Neighbors and Trion Warriors

(A/N: I'm mainly going off by the sub version so anyone from World Trigger will be using honorifics to make things go by smoother.)

TW/CW: car crash

(Third Person PoV)

The three boys earlier were limping away from the scene. They couldn't believe what they just saw.

Then they came face to face with one person.

"What were you doing in there? Citizens aren't allowed to trespass here," he said.

"Y-you got to help us!" One of the boys yelped.

"Yeah we were being chased by a Neighbor!" Another said.

"Ren-san, we found three boys in the Forbidden area. They say that they found the Neighbor. Requesting, 'protection'" another person said who was behind the boys.

Meanwhile, there were two people standing around a crater from the destroyed Neighbor.

The one holding the spear whistled, impressed.

"Looks like someone got here before us. They must have done an impressive job. A-rank for sure," he said.

"Which squad did this?" His companion said.

"Let me see," a voice in his ear said.

There were some background clanking noises like someone was typing into a computer on the other side.

"Hmm, that's odd. No squad was around when this Neighbor was destroyed," they said.

"Hmm, then who could have done this?" He wondered.

The little that they know is that there were four people walking away from the place.

Two schoolboys and two adults.

"Hold on, Kuga! What do you mean that you're a Neighbor? That was a Neighbor!" Osamu pointed out.

"No no, that's a Bamster. It's a Trion Warrior and those are called/commanded by Neighbors," Yuma explained.

"Wait a minute, then did you called it?" Skeppy asked.

"Oh no, I didn't call it. Anyway, Neighbors are humans like me who have been living beyond the Gate," Yuma explained.

"Living beyond the Gate? Now I'm just confused! So that creature wasn't a Neighbor but instead something else? You're a Neighbor?" Niki asked.

"That's what I said," Yuma replied.

The three of them couldn't believe it!

The apparent enemy/what they are defending the city from is standing right in front of them.

In the form of a fifteen year old boy!?

They continued walking until they reach further into the city. It also turned nighttime.

During that time, Yuma explained a bit of the differences between Neighbors and Trion Warriors.

"But that's nonsense," Osamu said.

"I have to agree with him," Skeppy nodded.

"Hmmm, things are sure odd here in Japan," Yuma muttered.

"I think it's best we keep a low profile for now," someone whispered to him.

"Alright." Yuma stopped in his tracks.

"Forget everything I just said," he turned to Osamu, Skeppy and Niki and made an X with his arms.

"I'm not a Neighbor. I'm one hundred percent Japanese," Yuma said.

"That's even more suspicious!" Skeppy snapped.

"Nonsense if I'm a Neighbor. Suspicious if I'm Japanese?" Yuma muttered.

"Well which one is it?" Osamu asked.

"Neighbor....no Japanese," Yuma said.

"..."

Osamu stared down at him with a look that suggested that he was thinking long and hard about what he was going to do with this situation.

"Niki, what have we gotten ourselves into this time," Skeppy sighed.

"Too many things. Too many things," Niki explained.

Osamu turned to the adults and whispered, "I think we should keep a closer eye on him."

The two of them nodded.

"Say Kuga. Let's go and talk some more," Osamu said.

"Hold on," Yuma said.

They heard a small growling noises and it took them a second to realize that it came from Yuma.

He turned his head to them, making his usual duck face.

"I'm hungry."

"Well do you have any money?" Osamu asked.

"Oh no need to worry about that. I got money," Niki said and was about to reach into her satchel when Yuma said, "Yeah I have been saving up."

Out of his bag, he pulled out a whole stack of paper money.

!

"It's only paper though. Is that alright?" Yuma asked as he waved around the money.

"What the hell?!" Skeppy gasped.

He was too busy eye goggling the money that he didn't noticed that others were looking at the money as well.

However, Niki and Osamu did and they noticed some dangerous stares were coming from certain types of people.

"Hey put that way," Osamu took the money and placed it in Yuma's bag again.

The four of them left rapidly and didn't stop until they reached a vending machine where the only people there were themselves.

"How much do you have?" Skeppy asked but got hit in the head by Niki.

"Kuga, you can't just waved money around like that! It's too dangerous!" Osamu snapped.

"Hmmm...really?" Yuma asked.

"Yes really! People were staring at us and some not in a friendly manner," Niki replied.

"Ok then. Well no harm was done so I guess we're ok," Yuma said and turned around to walk off.

"Now hold on a sec-," Osamu said but Yuma slightly bumped into someone.

"Oh sor-," Yuma began but then that someone dramatically fell down and held his knee up, acting like he was hurt. Like a really really dramatic soccer player.

"Owwwwwwee!"

"Look what you have done, shortie! I'm pretty sure it's broken," he said.

His companion nodded with a grin.

What kind of acting was that? Mega cringe, Skeppy thought.

Oh sh*t, this isn't good, Niki thought.

They saw the money! Oh no, Osamu thought.

Yuma just stared at them with no fear in his eyes.

"Oi pay up so I can pay for my broken leg," the guy said and held out his hand.

Yuma just looked at it before looking back at the guy.

"You need money? For the doctor?" Yuma asked.

Apparently these guys never heard of health insurance.

"Yes. I probably need it amputated or something," the guy replied.

"Hey knock it off!" Osamu snapped but that turned out to be a bad idea.

The guy punched Osamu in the stomach before looking back at Yuma.

"Osamu!" Niki yelped.

"Hey what the hell is the big idea!" Skeppy snapped.

"If I say my leg is broken, my leg is broken," the guy said.

"You need to pay five thousand. No wait, ten thousand!" His companion shouted.

"So ten sheets? I guess I can do that," Yuma murmured.

"Huh? Why not give it to someone who is poor?" Skeppy cried.

"Skeppy, we're not poor though," Niki said.

"We are! We're not going to survive on minimum wage!" Skeppy cried.

Yuma ignored this interaction and just stared at the guy.

No one else noticed but Yuma's pupil turned black as he continued staring at the guy.

He went to reach for the money before lifting his leg and kicked the guy so hard on the leg that the guy's leg was actually broken.

This time the guy actually fell down and held onto his leg and was crying out in pain. For real this time.

"There we go. Now it's broken," Yuma stated.

Everyone was in shocked and just stared as Yuma took out the money.

"Here's your ten sheets." Ten sheets of money was tossed at the guy and he just looked up at Yuma who smiled at this.

The two guys left in a hurry.

Did they take the money with them, who knows?

"Problem solved!" Yuma said, cheerfully

"No it was not!" Osamu shouted.

"Solved my a*s!" Skeppy also shouted.

"Yuma, you can't just hurt someone like that. Even if they were trying to mooch off money from you, it's not ok to fight fire with fire," Niki explained.

"But he kind of asked for it," Yuma said.

"She's right. You can't just do that to people," Osamu added on.

Yuma just shrugged.

"Alright, let's go and find something to eat!" He tried walking away.

"Hold on! I'll go find something!" Osamu exclaimed.

"Huh?"

"I think it's best if I can go find something for us to eat. Just stay out and stay out of trouble. No breaking people's bones," Osamu instructed.

"Is this how it's done in Japan?" Yuma asked.

"You don't do that!" Osamu said.

"Wait, Osamu. I'm coming with you. I feel bad if I'm the adult and I don't pay for the food," Niki said.

"Oh there's nothing to worry about," Osamu tried to assure her but Niki shook her head.

"Skeppy, stay here and watch over Yuma," Niki said.

"Why me?" Skeppy asked.

Niki just glared at him and her and Osamu left to find some food for the four of them to eat.

"Ok, shortie. Guess I'm watching over you," Skeppy sighed.

"Hey, what's your name again?" Yuma asked.

"My name is Skeppy. Her name is Niki," Skeppy said.

"Hmm. I have a question, Skeppy-san. Only ten sheets for the doctor? That seems like a lot," Yuma noted.

"In some places, health care is expensive although I honestly doubt that they actually wanted to use that money for the doctor," Skeppy explained.

"I see," Yuma noted.

What they didn't know is that there were three people watching them.

And they were looking at the money that Yuma had in his hand.

"Hey shortie. Mind if you can give me some money?" One of the guys asked as the came up to them.

Skeppy narrowed his eyes while Yuma just stared at them.

"Money? Is everyone in Japan poor?" Yuma wondered.

"Why should he give you the money?" Skeppy asked.

"My parents are dying of a deadly disease. Even a small amount of money can save them," that guy said.

"Oh really? Guess I can give them this," Yuma held up his stack of money.

"Thank you! They're at death's door," the guy grinned and his companions snickered.

Then Yuma looked up, frowning.

"But if you're lying, I'll smack you," he said.

"Yeah, he broke someone's leg once," Skeppy added on.

They didn't seem to believe him.

"It's the truth, I promise," the guy said.

Yuma stared at him even longer and his pupil turned black.

Meanwhile, Osamu and Niki were walking out of a fast food restaurant.

BOOOM!!

Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked around to see where that loud boom came from.

Immediately, Osamu and Niki knew what happened.

Back with Yuma and Skeppy.

The guy who asked for money went flying and landed in a slump position.

He's not dead, just knocked out.

Yuma just stood there, moving his arm around while Skeppy just clung onto the vending machine in shock.

"What the hell!?" One of the other guys cried.

"Ok who's next?" Yuma asked.

The two guys lunged at Yuma only to get the tables turned on them and flipped up in the air and landed with the other guy in the same position.

Osamu and Niki just arrived on scene.

"What the-?" Osamu asked.

"Ah, you two are back!" Yuma said.

"Skeppy! I thought you were supposed to keep an eye on him?" Niki snapped.

"I did! He just decided to smack people trying to steal his money in the air," Skeppy explained as he stopped holding onto the vending machine.

"But it's ok! No broken bones this time....I think," Yuma held up a thumbs up.

"NO ITS NOT OK!" Osamu shouted.

The four of them went to the park after this, the incident still fresh in their minds.

"Mmm, this is good," Yuma murmured as he bit into the burger.

"Listen Yuma. You can't just smack people like that. It's against the law here," Osamu explained.

"But it seems like a lot of people don't follow those rules here. So what should I do then?" Yuma asked.

"Well there are alternative ways instead of resorting to violence. More legal ways to deal with these sort of things. Self defense isn't illegal per se but you shouldn't always resort to it unless they attack you first," Niki explained.

"Hmmm, so I should defend myself if they attack me first?" Yuma asked.

"More complicated than that but yeah I guess," Niki said.

"Guess that is complicated," Yuma sighed.

"Now I'll be the first to admit that violence is usually the first that comes to mind but it doesn't always have to be that way. There are rules that strengthen that even if certain others don't follow them. You shouldn't follow their example," Skeppy said.

"Yeah and there are rules that frown upon that time of behavior," Osamu added on.

"Hmm I see. But rules aren't meant to protect you. They are there to keep order. What can protect you in the end is your own strength. That's what my dad used to say. Rules are kept in order so bad guys don't go around and messing things up but that doesn't that it can't happen. Only you can protect yourself in the end," Yuma explained and continued eating his burger.

That reasoning...it's very child like but he seems to actually believe in that. He may be naïve but he's not stupid. If only he had someone to guide him, Osamu thought.

"Do you want to learn the rules of Japan?" Osamu asked.

Yuma tilted his head.

"Look. If you keep smacking people in the air, you're going to bring in a lot of unwelcome people like the ones from today. If you understood the law better, then you'll have a better time here," Osamu explained.

"He does have a point," Niki shrugged.

With Yuma, a voice said, "I agree with Osamu. I think it would be bad if we're found out by being reckless."

"So should I follow him?" Yuma asked in a whisper.

"That's your decision, Yuma."

Yuma took a final bite of his burger and wrapped the wrapper tightly and threw it in the trash can.

"Alright," he jumped down from the sphere thingie and looked at them.

"Show me the ways of Japan," Yuma said and sipped on the soda.

"Ok!" Osamu said quickly.

Glad that's resolved quickly, Niki thought.

Yuma nodded and walked off.

Skeppy noticed a car that was coming and Yuma was walking right into it.

"Wait Yuma!" He called out.

Skrrrrrit! CRASH!

The soda cup splattered onto the ground and Yuma's hand fell limp.

"Kuga!" Osamu ran towards him with Niki and Skeppy behind him.

Yuma lifted his head slowly.

"I forgot about the cars," he murmured.

Their eyes widen in surprise.

On Yuma's face, there was a black crack and it faded away, disappearing in his eye.

What the hell?!! Skeppy thought.

"Oh my god! Oh my god! Call an ambulance! Are you ok?" A woman from the car asked worriedly.

Yuma got up quickly, "Yep, I'm ok!"

The woman's eyes widen and she gasped.

"Sorry about your car," Yuma went to grab his money, "here."

"Oh no no. I'm just glad you're alright," she assured him.

Guess he truly wasn't kidding, Niki thought.

He wasn't lying after all, Skeppy thought.

He's the real thing. He's...a real Neighbor! Osamu thought.

A/N: whooooh! Let's go, finished this very epic chapter!
