06 ~ Friends

The three boys changed the topic that they were discussing amongst each other, but yet you couldn't seem to wipe the stupid smile off your face from what he had said.
He likes my smile, you thought.
"So, when will everyone else arrive?" Jimin asked the two.
"In the next few days" Taehyung answered. "They will definitely be here for your moms gathering" he smiled.
Jungkook then came up with a bright idea.
He leaned closer to Jimin and they spoke in a hushed tone.
"You should invite the love of your life over there" he said nodding toward you.
Jimin glanced toward you as you were busily at work, trying to balance the register.
"I don't know JK, I think I would just creep her out by doing that" he admits, before you turn around and cut off the conversation.
"Sorry to interrupt, But is there anything you would like?" You smile.
"No, it's only a quick visit so we are okay thanks"
"Oh, are you sure? Because we still have baked stuff and I'll only be throwing it away. It's on the house" you suggested.
The two look between each other and then turn their heads to you with a mischievous grin.
"We'll have it all" Taehyung smiled.
"To go" Jungkook added.
You nodded with a polite smile and left to pack up there orders.
They turned their gazes from you, back to Jimin.
"She's a keeper" Jungkook chuckled.
Jimin just shook his head.
"I'm going to use the restroom, I'll be back" Jimin excused himself
Jimin stood up and walked out of the room and Jungkook and Taehyung waited until the coast was clear to bolt out of their chairs toward to you.
You were alerted by the sound of their chairs scraping against the floor and next thing you know they're sitting at the stools at the counter.
"Spill the tea" Taehyung said.
"What tea?" You ask.
"With you and Jimin, duh" Jungkook explained.
"I don't know what to say" you admit truthfully. "There isn't any tea. I've known him for a mere two days" you laugh nervously.
"And yet, he is at your feet" Taehyung sighs.
Your eyes widen. "That's not true"
"Sure" Jungkook laughs. "When will you start dating him?"
You were taken by surprise.
"Eh- never?"
Both their jaws drop. "What do you mean never!"
"Yeah! You're like the Juliet to his Romeo"
"Well one, he has a girlfriend and I'm not his type. And two, why would I want my life to end up like Romeo and Juliet's did?" You chuckle at the boys playful manner.
"Well that 'girlfriend' is a sleezebag that everyone hates" Jungkook admits. "And you are the perfect example of his type" Jungkook admits.
"Yeah! Definitely!" Taehyung agrees. "You're pretty, smart and incredibly funny. Not to mention how strong, yet humble you are" he adds.
"How do you know if I'm humble or strong?" You quirk an eyebrow towards him.
"That's just how he described you to us" Jungkook admitted.
"Wait" your eyes widened. "He's talked about me before?" You ask confused.
They both nod.
Fuck.
Your friendship must be deeper than you thought.
You mentally cursed yourself.
It was never supposed to go far.
And now it has gone too far.
This was ruining your plan.
You were just supposed to get through high school and graduate. Then continue with your life. It was never on the agenda to make friends.
Friends just waste time.
"What are you all doing" Jimin asked, seeing as the two boys had magically appeared at the counter, facing you.
"Oh nothing" they said playfully, walking back to their seat. Jimin turned to you, awaiting your answer.
"Yeah- it was nothing" you say timidly and he just nodded gently.
You finished sealing their 'to go box' and you handed to Jungkook.
"You should eat the ones with cream first, otherwise they will go bad" you smiled gently and he bowed his head.
"Thank you"
"No problem" you then returned back to the counter.
Taehyung nudged Jungkooks elbow and have him a nod.
"We have to leave now" Taehyung smiled. "But it was really nice to meet you and I hope to see you again soon, y/n" he smiled.
"Ditto" you said awkwardly.
They gave one last hug to Jimin and then continued to leave and now only you and Jimin were left in the building.
Great.
You decided to lastly wipe the table that the three boys were just sitting at and then you would finish up for the day.
You began to squirt the disinfectant, but nothing was coming out so you sighed and threw the bottle in the rubbish and made your way over to a shelf to grab a new bottle.
You reached up for a new bottle as it was on the top shelf and your shirt stretched out, revealing your purple and blue wrist.
But of course, knowing you, you didn't even notice. You eventually got a grasp on the bottle and took it down.
And you were shocked to see Jimin behind you looking at you as if he had just seen a ghost.
"Holy shit, are you okay?" You make him sit down on a chair, seeing as he had paled a substantial amount.
"Jimin?"
"What the hell happened to you?" He asked, a voice full of worry.
Then you got confused.
"Huh?"
He took your hand gently into his and rolled up your sleeve and the moment that you caught onto what he was doing, you pulled your sleeve back down.
"Y/n, I already saw it" he whispered.
"Just forget about it" you whispered back, walking away from him over to the table to wipe it down, which was your original plan before you got....sidetracked.
"You don't actually expect me to forget I saw what I just saw, do you?" he asked.
"You didn't see anything!" You exclaimed. "You don't have to worry about me Jimin, I'm a big girl" you scoffed.
"But-"
"Please! For the love of all things, just drop it" you plead.
Jimin looked at you, his eyes glistening in an emotion that you could only guess was pity.
"Okay" he said under his breath.
///
You began closing up the cafe and cleaning the last bits and pieces.
Then, next thing you know, you were outside locking the door.
"Well thank you for everything" you smiled and waved.
"Why are you saying goodbye? I'm coming with you" he smiled.
"Okay that's not happening" you shook your head and began walking away.
Jimin tilted his head to the side but continued to follow you.
"Yes it is happening, it's common curtesy" he pressed.
"Jimin, you've been incredibly kind to me all day, but you're not walking me home" you press.
You stop beside a tree and start taking an apple from it.
"I could buy an apple for you" he suggested and you turn to face him before putting the picked apple into your bag.
"This is fine, thank you though" you smile weakly.
"Are you sure? I wouldn't mind-"
"Jimin, go home"
He looked at you momentarily and then he just smiled.
"No, I'm walking you home and you're going to deal with it" he grinned.
You shook your head and looked at him.
"Jimin, I don't think you understand" you begin. "Do you live in a big house?" You ask.
He nodded.
"And do you have a nice garden?" You ask.
He nodded again.
"And there aren't any roof tiles missing, is there? Or paint chipping from the walls? Or you have a door with proper locks, don't you?"
And yet again, he nods.
"Yeah, you see, I don't have that and that's embarrassing for me to say, nevermind for you to see it" you admit.
You then walk away from him, clenching the strap of your bag that was slung over your shoulder.
You were looking at your surroundings. The cars, the trees, the people.
There wasn't a lot of people or cars around, but there was a few.
And that's when a patter of feet running in your direction takes your attention and you turn toward the noise.
And of course, Jimin is running at you.
"How about I walk you to a house a few houses away from yours, that way we are both happy" he suggested, trying to regain his breath. "Please" he added at the end.
You were taken aback by what he said.
"I don't know-"
"Please~" he whined. "Otherwise I'll stalk you on your way home.
You take a moment to look into his eyes and you take note of how genuine he was being.
And surely enough, you find yourself saying-
"Fine"
///
"So how long have you worked there for?" Jimin asked as you walked along the road.
The sky was turning dark and the street lights illuminated the area.
"Nearly eight months" you admitted. "I actually worked in a restaurant before I worked in lava java. It was for wealthy people, snob central if you ask me" you laugh.
"So what happened there?" Jimin asked curious.
"I -eh-" you hesitated. "I fainted in the middle of the dining area" you shake away the embarrassing thought.
Jimin stopped walking and you turned to face him.
"And the fired you?" He asked, astounded.
"Yeah, pretty much" you nodded and kept walking.
"Holy shit" he murmured.
"Yeah, holy shit" you repeated.
Jimin noticed the direction you were heading in. It was notorious for being a very bad neighborhood. He knew better than to mention it, so he kept his mouth closed.
"So you walk home everyday?" He asked.
You nodded.
"All year round?"
You nodded yet again.
"Wouldn't you not consider taking a taxi?" He asked and you scoffed.
"Yeah, if money grew on trees I would" you shook your head.
"I could pay for your taxi fairs, I really wouldn't mind. It would be a pleasure for me" you side eyed him.
"Thanks, but no thanks" you said quietly.
There was a few moments silence until Jimin decided to speak again.
"You're really confusing" He said, taking you by surprise.
"What?" You asked confused.
"Well you have a badly bruised wrist and you won't tell me the truth about where you got it. You won't let me help you with money when you obviously need it you work harder then anyone else our age and you do all this with no help. Not to mention the fact that you are working even through you got physically abused today and you won't ask for help" he sighed.
"Jim-"
"If we are going to be friends I want there to be no secrets"
Friends.
"Jimin there's something's I wish could tell you, but it's me, I'm physically not able to tell you. I wish I could but the words won't leave my mouth" you said as a tear rolled down your cheek.
He then sprung into protection mode.
"Okay, okay you can tell me when you're ready" he said as he pulls you into a hug. "Now we need to get you home so that you can rest. You've had a long day" Jimin said as he broke the hug and you nodded and you agreed
"Yeah I will" You said quietly.
You dried your tears and began to continue walking side by side with the schools popular hot guy Park Jimin.
"It's funny" you started. "Three days ago, I thought you were the biggest dick in the world and now you seem completely different to me" he looked toward you.
"You really thought I was a dick?" He laughed.
"Well I mean when you see it from my point of view, you weren't even here two weeks and you already had a girlfriend who just happened to be the popular girl of the school. Then the minute you came all the girls loved you because of your looks and all the boys hated you because the girls loved you. So I guess that just kinda left that impression of you to me" you shook your head. "How stupid of me"
"What changed your opinion of me?"
"Well I guess the beginning of getting to know you in a few days helped" you said smiling.
"Oh yeah that would make sense" He said. "So what's your opinion of me now?" He asked, looking down at his feet.
"Looks like someone is thirsting for compliments" you chuckled.
"Maybe" he cheesed.
"Let me see" you sighed, thinking of what to say. "You're persistent. Like, extremely persistent" you shook your head.
"What do you mean?"
"When I tell you I don't want you to do something, you keep pushing until you get what you want. For example, I didn't want you to walk me home, yet, here we are" You gestured to the area around you.
Jimin eventually turned in. "Okay, that's fair. What else?"
You glanced at him before saying the next point.
"You're surprisingly a nice guy" you begin.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Well think of anyone else in your position. You have no money worry's and everyone loves you. You have everything you could ever want laid at your feet before you and yet, you don't let it get to your head" you explain.
"So when you said that everyone loves me," he began. "Does that include you?" He smirked.
"Oh sorry! Let me re-phrase" you laughed. "Everyone, besides me, loves you" he then kicked your behind playfully.
"Okay, I do not know you well enough for you to do that" you said, shock evident in your voice.
He then began laughing so hard that his eyes began to tear up and you couldn't help but join in the laughter.
Jimin began to wipe his eyes after be calmed down.
"So what do you think of me?" You ask and Jimin went quiet. "You don't have to answer-"
"I think you're a girl who holds a lot of problems and is too stubborn to ask for help" he admits openly. "You're incredibly strong for going through what you have gone through and not saying a word to anyone about it. That's fascinating to me"
You opened your mouth to speak, but closed it again as you didn't know how to reply.
"Not to mention you are undeniably pretty and funny" he added onto the end.
"Wow" you laughed. "You definitely are a ladies man anyways"
"No I mean it y/n" he stopped walking as he spoke. "You should step back some time and just witness what you do everyday. It's seriously incredible" he admits and you blush as he takes slow steps toward you.
He was now directly in front of you, the both of you just glancing into each other's eyes.
You could've swore that you saw him bend down a little, as if he was going to-
No, he would never, you told yourself.
What stopped him, from whatever he was going to do, was his phone ringing.
His eyes widened. As if realizing what he was going to do.
He took his phone from his back pocket and he shook his head.
It was Alex.
And all he said then was- "I have to go" and then he ran off down the street you came down.
He left you alone.
You were so shocked that you just stood there, watching him run away.
You couldn't help but let tears well in your eyes. You then scolded yourself.
"He's not worth it"
You couldn't believe that he left you stranded.
Or were you over reacting?
Because you aren't his girlfriend, he shouldn't have been with you anyways.
Maybe you were being dramatic.
But you're a sensitive person!
But you couldn't help but let an overwhelming sadness take over your body.
He never wanted you, you're pathetic, the voice in your head said.
And with that, you continued to walk home alone, in the dark, in a bad neighborhood, with tears prickling in your eyes as you heard car alarms from afar as well as glass breaking. That's just how you lived.
///
When you arrived outside your house, you saw your dads car outside.
You knew that you physically couldn't handle any more pain at that moment. You walked around the side of the house, toward your bedroom and opened the window as quietly as possible.
You threw your bags inside and crawled in afterwards.
Once you were inside you closed the window and then made your way over to your door and you locked it before collapsing on your bed.
You snuggled into your flimsy sheets.
You cried yourself to sleep that night over incidents that happened throughout the entire day and the bed squeaking in the next room certainly didn't help.
Your life officially sucked.
TBC
