CHAPTER 49
Yawning, I wait for the gig to start. Ever since their audition with that entertainment agency, more and more people have come to their gigs, hoping to say that they were a fan of the group long before their debut.
Soo-Ri types furiously against that phone of hers, eyebrows knitted together. I chuckle at her anger, poking her slightly. "Is Jungwon picking a fight again?"
"If he was a man, he'd come out here and talk to me face-to-face," She mumbles, stuffing her phone in her pocket. Facing me, she scoots her chair closer to the table. "We're supposed to go on a date night after this, but he suddenly can't decide whether to go to some fancy restaurant or go to an amusement park."
"Amusement parks sound better than a restaurant," I comment.
"That's what I said!" She agrees, exclaiming. "However, he claims that "I deserve the best service" or whatnot. He's cute, but too cute sometimes—It upsets me that he's indecisive about these small things. With him—"
"Don't, don't you dare—"
"With him," She recites, clasping her hands together. "I'd do anything he wants."
"Gross," I gag, turning away. I hear her angry sigh before she perks up, the lights fading down. "Shh, it's starting!"
I chuckle as I hear the soft footsteps of the seven boys on stage, everyone quiet as they await the group's appearance. Suddenly, the light pink light places itself against their physiques—and everyone starts to scream.
"Hello, we are ENHYPEN!" I smirk, seeing them bow as everyone claps at their band name. Jungwon takes the front mic, smiling at the crowd as his eyes hesitate to find somewhere to look. However, when his eyes land on sis and me, a slight wave makes its way to us. "Hello, everyone. Our band name is officially ENHYPEN—and hopefully, while you're here, you'll enjoy your stay."
Soo-Ri cheers for her boyfriend as my eyes land on my own significant other, my arms immediately crossing as he can't seem to pry his eyes off the lingering crowd. He seemed nervous—maybe because it was his first time seeing a big crowd like this.
However, if he ever decides to go on tour, he'll see way~ more of it.
Finally, his eyes find mine, so I wink at him. Heeseung stifles an ongoing laugh, winking back at me as he can't seem to hide his blush.
Mr. Socialite has certainly become someone different.
He's more social, of course—but in a way that he's able to express more. Usually, it's just his popularity and mature looks that kept him at the top, but now, it's his personality that grows each day. I wouldn't say I thought him how to, nor would I take the credit, but I think it's interesting how love can take a toll on someone's life.
"3, 2, 1, Let's go!"
"Do I really... have to touch grass?" Heeseung pulls me along with the group, his hand wrapped tightly around one hand as his free arm wraps well around my waist. "It's literally five days before graduation. I'm supposed to be helping my literature major plan our graduation speech, and you're—"
Kissing me to shut up, he pulls away seconds after, smiling at me softly. "Shut up."
I scowl, shortly pushing him off of me. His chuckle doesn't go unnoticed, the boy attracting back to me like a magnet. He kisses me all around my face as we walk back to the campsite with food in my hands, the grass growing thicker as I hear the cheers of the group. "Do we have to go to them, love?"
I raise an eyebrow, halting my steps. "What do you mean?"
"We could just have our own little campsite. You and me."
"As if," I scoff, pointing at him despite the heavy luggage. "You can't even control yourself at my house these days. I'd doubt this camping trip, you'd do any better."
We continue to walk, but the boy doesn't stop persisting. "Well, Jungwon isn't living with you guys anymore, and since I'm helping you pay rent, I should at least have some property over the house," He rolls his eyes, stopping me in my tracks again. "I should at least have some ownership over you."
"Are you calling me property?"
"Your lips are."
"You're getting quite bold these days, Lee Heeseung,"
"All for you, Jae Iseul," He whispers, kissing me again before shuffling my hair. "C'mon, it was smooth enough."
"Sure, I'll give that to you," I move around him, continuing to walk towards the campsite. "Anyway, how's graduation preparation going? Don't you have to make a speech for foreign languages as well?"
"Yeah, but remember? We aren't in the same area for graduation," He frowns, crossing his arms. "I do get to do some big speech or whatever, but we're going to be on opposite sides of the university."
"Yeah, at the same time," I sigh, rubbing my temples. "No one else is graduating with us—they all have around one or two more years. I wonder who they will visit for graduation."
"Me, obviously," He says confidently, crossing his arms. "We are a band! Bands stick together."
"True," I nod, agreeing. "I bet you Soo-Ri will not come to my graduation. She'll probably be with Jungwon—and my parents aren't coming."
"Oh, why not?" He inquires, making me shrug.
"They have business plans or whatever, no big deal to be honest," I shrug it off as always—it always happens every graduation that I start to think either they don't want to come—
or their boss is just unnecessarily rude.
"So... nobody is coming to see you do your speech?" He asks, eyes full of worry. "Or see you take that flag down the aisle since you're a part of the high-GPA graduating thing?"
"Yes, neither of those will be seen—only with my own pair of eyes," I chuckle at his worry, patting his shoulder. "No worries, though—who needs a photographer to capture a few things when you've got memories."
"You're shrugging off your biggest graduation ever like it's nothing."
"I always shrug off everything like it means nothing," I blink, swinging my head back and forth as I see the tents not too far. They started to light fireworks—without us!? "Just like I shrugged off you."
"Rude, rude! But also, Iseul—don't shrug it off. I'm sure people will come," He frowns, pointing to the fireworks. "Now, let's hurry up. C'mon, I want to go play with fireworks. Give me the food."
"No, it's okay—" And~ he takes it out of my grasp, running away with it. I chuckle as they all laugh at him stumbling around, leaving me behind.
But maybe he was right, it was a big part of my life...
Nah, it's alright.
For now, I'm living my best life! Everyone's here, besides Juyeong. I still wish to meet her someday again, when Sunghoon brings her along. However, knowing that Sunghoon wouldn't want her to meet crazy people like us (to him, she's a gem probably), he won't bring her to meet us anytime soon. Whatever though, I'd do the same.
However, Jungwon and Soo-Ri get along more often, all while they live separately because Soo-Ri is like Heeseung—out of control.
Jake and Ji-Hun have been getting closer—but it seems like there's another competitor that has caught the interest Jake. I can't go into it because I simply know nothing about it, but let's just say that's a story that'll never end.
Besides that, these fireworks bloom high in the sky, and as I watch from afar because I've been frozen this whole time, I reminisce for a quick second.
Everyone went from loving to hating, back to loving—and at least now, we're living.
Of course, as cliche, as it sounds, there was always going to be a happy ending, even in a short story as messy as this one.
I wish I could run away right now as well, but on the topic of indecisiveness, I think it's best to stay positive and tread forward towards them.
But... the fireworks. The stillness, the loneliness I missed...
The solitude that I hated yet loved, I think it's been taken away from me by the title of Miss Socialite.
However, again, I wouldn't mind holding up that title as long as I help Heeseung out of the burden of it. A pair of socialites can cause chaos, but I guess this time, we chose to love.
Anyways, I'm spiraling at this point, sorry for having you listen to my nonsense. Reality hit for a second.
"Iseul, get your ass over here!" I hear, causing me to look up. Soo-Ri beckons to the fire as everyone continues to run away from the fireworks, my sister groaning before she runs over to me.
"I know you like your space, but right now, we want you to stick around," She wraps her arm around my shoulder, poking me with her finger. "And even though I hate you, I'd prefer if you didn't stand there like a creep and come sit down."
"Alright, alright," I blink, removing her arm from my shoulders. "I got the memo. Let's go."
"Yay~"
