CHAPTER 31

I look over at Heeseung as we get off the train back home, biting my lip. His glasses slide down his nose bridge again as he checks our things, making sure nothing was stolen. These days, my heart has been beating quickly—maybe because we're dating now, or because he looks hotter now that I've admired him more.

"Okay, everything's here, let's go?" He inquires, causing me to nod happily. He chuckles before grabbing my hand, intertwining our fingers as I swing my arm. I hum as we walk out of the station, looking on my phone to see where Jungwon and Soo-Ri are.

"Surprise!" I hear, causing Heeseung and me to flinch. There the two are, holding signs. My grin immediately falters as they freeze, looking at our hands. Heeseung and I widen our eyes before looking at each other, clearing our throats. "D-Did you..."

"Hyung, did you ask her out?!" Jungwon grins immediately, hopeful eyes. I glimpse over at a smirking Heeseung, the boy holding back his laugh before closing his eyes, stifling a smile with biting his lip. He tilts his head instantly to the side, shaking his head.

I thought I was about to faint from the expression he made. My god, is he beautiful.

"Of course," He whispers, making me blush and hide my face in his arm. I hear the two squeal, shaking us.

"What'd she say?! Iseul, what did you say?!"

"Of course... I said yes," I nod, laughing as I shake my head at their constant fanning. "Alright, alright! Let me at least show you our phone cases." I nudge Heeseung, making him nod. He pulls out his clear case with the cute bunny on it, mine clear as well. I hold one half of the heart with the bear as his bunny holds the other—and as we put them together, they form a cute, little heart.

Jungwon and Soo-Ri clap hands with each other as they stare and point at the cases (as if they've never seen them before), gossiping to each other. "Okay, that's enough," I add, crossing my arms. "Did you bring the car?"

Soo-Ri nods, beckoning us to follow her. She throws me the keys which I humbly catch, getting in the front seat. Jungwon joins me at the front, but as he does, someone clears their throat—causing all of us to turn their way. Heeseung eyes Jungwon as the boy freezes, slowly taking off his seatbelt and jumping out of the passenger seat. Jungwon pouts as he sits with Soo-Ri in the back, arms crossed.

"She's still my best friend!"

"And she's my girlfriend, beat that," Heeseung intertwines his hand with mine, making me chuckle. Jungwon groans as I turn on the engine, putting the car in reverse. With my super cool driving skills, I drive Heeseung back to his home—and the rest of us to mine.

Yawning as I sling my keys into my bag, I hang it over my shoulder. It reminds me of Heeseung—maybe that's why I do it. Texting him last night, we agreed to keep it pretty low for now, but knowing Jungwon and the rest of the school, it's probably been leaked already.

And as I'm fully correct, people eye me from the entrance, rumoring and gossiping about how a normal girl has taken the heart of Mr. Socialite. I try to listen in as I take out my phone, pretending to do things.

"I'm not surprised Iseul had taken his heart—and they do look pretty cute together."

"I agree... but what will Ji-Hun say? Do you think she already knows the rumors?"

"Probably—they didn't look that good together anyways. I support Iseul and Heeseung more!"

"Agreed."

I chuckle softly before putting my phone away, looking over at them. They quickly notice, waving slightly. I wave as well, walking past them. "Thank you," I whisper, watching as they giggle to themselves about my short answer.

"Jae Iseul!" I hear, causing me to turn around. The seven boys have already gathered at the other end of the hallway, waving at me. It was embarrassing to be the center of attention, oh my gosh... People have stared at me the moment I came in, but now they're really at it. I wave back slightly, seeing Heeseung wink at me.

I sigh, shaking my head. "Of course he's like this..."

I stroll over to them, looking up at these giants. "Hello, do you mind not calling me from afar?"

"Hyung asked us to," Sunoo shrugs, pinching my cheek. "You look awfully sweeter this time around. Is it because you and hyung are dating?" I frown, pinching Sunoo's cheek as well. He hisses, letting go of mine.

"No, nothing has changed except me being in a relationship—wake up!" I huff, letting go of him as Jake pats my back. For once, that feeling of loving him was completely gone.

"Congrats, Iseul!" He smiles widely, chuckling to himself. "I knew you'd pick him."

"Thanks... I guess?" I chuckle awkwardly, scratching my head. Sunghoon comes through as my eyes take a glance towards Heeseung—who warns him with his eyes.

"I'm not going to bite her, hyung," Sunghoon replies, shrugging. "I know I've lost. That doesn't mean anything's changed between us. I'm still going to be her best friend."

"I don't know about that," Heeseung narrows his eyes, crossing his arms. "Just keep your distance for a while—then I'll trust you."

Sunghoon puts his arms up, making me shake my head. "Stop intimidating him—Heeseung and the rest of you, I'll see you at lunch—I need to go talk to an old teacher. Sunghoon, come with me."

"How come he gets to come?!"

"He knows who I'm talking about, now, adios!" I wave, the six frowning as Sunghoon sticks out his tongue. As we walk upstairs, I see Mr. Jung in the distance. He reads his book, leaning against the administrative board.

"Mr. Jung!" I yell, waving. He instantly hears me, his eyes sparkling as he waves back. Sunghoon and I run towards him, Mr. Jung hugging Sunghoon.

"My, Sunghoon!" Mr. Jung gawks, checking him up and down. "You've grown so tall since I last saw you. Have you been doing well?"

"I have, thank you," Sunghoon chuckles, straightening his clothes. "Is our school still okay? You still work there, right?"

"Yes, of course," Mr. Jung chuckles, pointing at me. "She came to visit me and had a reminiscing session about that window you all signed. It's good to see both of you close."

"Yes, she's helped me lots over the years," Sunghoon nods, his phone starting to ring. "Oh—give me a second, I'll be back!" He jogs to the wall, answering a phone call that's not worth listening to.

As I look back, Mr. Jung is nudging me, smirking. "So, how did it go with Romeo?"

"We're dating, thank you very much," I chuckle, causing Mr. Jung to gasp. "Of course, Sunghoon took it well. It took a while for Romeo to ask me out, considering we're both quite new to the "love game", but it worked out."

"When did you both start dating?"

"Just about two days ago," I nod, showing him my phone case. "We're matching phone cases—but I'm surprised you haven't heard about it. The rumors spread like wildfire."

"Well, is he popular?"

"Quite."

"Then I probably heard but chose to forget," He shrugs, crossing his arms. "I'm glad you finally found love though, and hopefully nothing goes wrong."

"Whenever you say that something does."

"Some kind of butterfly effect, I guess," He shrugs, shaking his head. "Just know that it's okay to argue and have fights. If it gets toxic, you know when to step away, right?"

"Of course, from all the relationship advice you gave me in high school, there's no way I can forget," I chuckle, hearing a door open. "Oh, the lecture is starting, you should go inside."

"Okay, well, say bye to Sunghoon for me, okay?"

"Okay, bye Mr. Jung!" He waves to me as he enters, leaving me to wait for Sunghoon.

I have a weird gut feeling. It doesn't feel good. Was something going to happen?
