Ch-7 ★Storms
Ch-7 ★Storms
[Aulaura]
Grey Mansion, Outskirts of London
It only takes a minute for snow to turn into a snowstorm. These storms were predicated, bond to come as they sweep all that was saved, tearing it apart. After every storm comes a rainbow but after ever snowstorm the land is left cold and icy.
We walked, entering the living room with cautious steps. My father was standing there underneath the chandelier talking to police officers and men in black suits with a grave, grave expression on his face while my mother sat on the golden loveseat with Sam on her side, she was crying, tears fell out of her grey eyes. Sam had her hand on my mother’s shoulder as she tried to comfort her.
This is when my father took note of my presence. Instantly relief washed over his face but the next minute it was replaced by anger. A storm was beginning to churn in his blue eyes. “Where were you?” he thundered.
“At the hospital,” I lied. I felt Jay stiffen beside me.
The police officials quietly walked out of the living, exiting through the front door.
“What were you doing there?” He loosened the checkered tie around his neck as the veins in his neck began protruding outwards. Damn, he was angry. This wasn’t good. I tried keeping my breath even and uncaring.
“I had fainted and Mr. Walter had taken me to the hospital,”
Mom came up to me, putting her hand on my cheek. “Are you okay, dear?” Her eyes were red and puffy.
I nodded my head. “It was nothing, just low blood pressure,”
“Which hospital?” my father spoke, standing in front of me. He gave me menacing look. Suspicious to the last, I knew he wouldn’t believe me.
“Oak General Hospital,” Too bad, I was good at this lying game.
“How come your name isn’t in the records?” he tapped his foot impatiently with his arms crossed over his chest.
Urgh! What the hell, He wasn’t going to let this drop. “Why are you being so difficult? I fell sick, went to a hospital. End of the story,” I yelled.
“Difficult you ask,” he let out a frustrated laugh. “Look Amanda,” he spoke to mom. “Look at what your daughter is saying,”
“Charles-“mom started out but I stopped her.
“Don’t drag her into this,”
He crossed his arms over his chest. “Fine, I won’t only if you tell me the truth,”
“That is the truth,” I let out an exasperated sigh.
“I had the entire police force searching for you. They couldn’t track your name in any hospital,”
“Mr. Grey,” Jay spoke, coming to my rescue. “I had taken her to the emergency ward that’s why her name wasn’t in the records,”
My father pointed his finger at Jay’s chest. “You should have not taken my daughter to the hospital without my permission,”
“I asked him to take me to the hospital,”
My father raised his eyebrow at me. “I thought you were unconscious,” He had caught me in the trap of my own words.
“I was feeling sick before I became unconscious and I had asked him to take me the hospital” My father pressed his lips into thin line.
I turned to look at Jay who looked a bit tensed. “Mr. Walter thank you for helping me. I’ll handle myself from here,”
“Are you sure?”
“Just leave,” My voice was stern. I turned back to look at my father. I didn’t want a stranger to see the broken condition of my family.
He didn’t say another word and left through the main door.
“Dad, Can we stop this? What are you trying to prove?” I spoke once Jay was out of the door.
“You’re asking me that,” he gave me an incredulous look. “My daughter was gone for an entire night,”
“I’m not a kid anymore. I don’t have to tell you about every damn thing I do,”
“You left your own birthday party without informing anyone,” he turned his back towards me. “You could have at least informed someone. You know how badly our reputation has been affected,”
“It’s not like we have a good reputation anyways,” I retorted.
He turned to face me with his hand clenched in a tight fist and his eyes burning with rage. “It took me years to build this reputation you’re trying to ruin through your reckless actions,”
“Whoo hoo!” I clapped my hands loudly. “You don’t need me to ruin your so called repo, congratulations you guys have ruined it yourself,”
He narrowed his eyes sharply at me. “What do you mean?”
“The whole world knows about divorce between Mr. and Mrs. Grey,” My voice was beginning to break as tears stung in my eyes. “Except for me,” I pointed my finger at my chest.
Tears were beginning to fall. I must be strong. I will not cry in front this man called my father. I will not let him see my weak side, never.
“Divorce? You heard?” my mother gasped, her face devoid of any color.
I didn’t reply in the fear if I said one more word, I’d fall apart. I ran out of the living room, leaving my parents to solve the tangled web of lies they had created to protect me.
~*~*~
I sat in my bedroom, the pale green walls of the room comforting me. Jay's jacket was wrapped around my shoulders as I held onto it stubbornly.I didn't want to let go of it. I don't know why. It felt nice to have it close to me. It was like having a piece of Jay by my side.
The quilts were pulled up till my knees. I stared at the poster opposite to my bed. It was a poster of Jay. I still couldn't believe the fact I had spent an entire night with him.
Sam entered the room, looking a bit worn-out. She closed the door behind her.
“Everything alright?” She asked taking a seat next to me on the bed.
I nodded my head, not meeting her eyes. I wrapped my arms around my bare knees.
Sam stroked my hair. “Mr. Grey was really worried about you,”
“I know,” I sighed, burying my head into my arms. “I really didn’t think this through,”
“It’s okay bud, all of us make mistakes,”
“Jay took to me to dancing festival,” I spoke, the memories of our dancing drifting through my conscious.
Sam shook her head slightly. “I figured you hadn’t gone to the hositipal,”
“Yah, I need an excuse to cover up,” I muttered, embarrassed. I wanted to tell her about Hunter but I decided against it. I’ll just handle him by myself.
“So,” Sam dragged the word, bumping her shoulders with mine. “How was your date?”
I rolled my eyes. “It wasn’t a date, Sam,”
She gave me a mischievous smile. “Sure, that’s what they all say,”
“Seriously Sam,” I chucked a round, cream-colored pillow at her, knocking her smile off. “He was just trying to cheer me up,”
Sam got up from the bed and grabbed a pillow, smacking my head down with it. “Oh looks like someone fancies you,” She teased.
“It’s nothing like that,” I took a large, feather pillow and chased after her around the room.
“Jay Walter fancies you,” She chanted as I blushed into a pink plum. “Aulaura Fancies Jay,”
“Sam, stop it,” I hit her back with the pillow, causing the pillows fabric to tear open and sending feather flying everywhere.
Sam clicked her tongue disapprovingly. “Now look at what you’ve done,”
I crossed my arms over my chest. “If you hadn’t teased this wouldn’t have happened,”
“Aww,” Sam came to my side, giving me a hug. “Little Aulaura is angry,”
I pulled away. “I’m not little,”
Sam pulled out a feather from nose. Both of us burst into laughter.
“But I still think Jay fancies you,” Sam spoke catching her breath.
“He does not,” I stuck my tongue out at her.
“Whatever you say,” She shrugged her shoulders, climbing into my bed. “I’m tired, Good night!”
“Hey, get out of my bed?”
“Nope,”
I sighed, looks like I’ll have to sleep in her room. I grabbed Jay’s leather jacket from the floor, not wanting to leave it alone. It’ll keep me company through the night.
~*~*~
“Shhh,” a pair of honey colored eyes entered my vision. He grabbed my neck, pressing me against a wall. “Give her to me,”
“Never,” I barely forced the word out of mouth.
His hand ran across my face. “You’re not giving me choice but to-“His hold on my neck tightened painfully. It was getting difficult for me to breath. “I really don’t want to hurt you,” His voice dipped to a lower tone.
“Then don’t,”
I felt a cold blade being pressed against my neck. I let out a strangled cry. “Stop please,”
“I will, give her to me,” He pulled back the blade from my skin.
“No,” The blade was being pushed deeper into my skin. In few minutes I would be dead but I was wrong.
Another pair of eyes entered my vision. They were brown, warm and comforting. They shed the fear away from my heart. “Are you okay?” he whispered, placing his hand on my cheek.
I nodded my head, falling into his arms as he held onto me tightly. I rested my head against his shoulder. Sobs shook my whole body. He stroked my back.
“Don’t leave me,” I murmured.
“I won’t,”
“Promise?”
“I promise,” He wrapped his arm around me and I-
Suddenly the ringing of a cellphone broke my dream. I got up groggily from the bed -my eyes adjusting to the dark surrounding me. The moon’s light streamed in through the blinds.
The sound was coming from Jay’s jacket. I was holding onto his jacket tightly, it helped keeping away the nightmares. I checked the pockets. Something hard hit my fingers. I pulled it out. It was his cellphone.
He had forgotten his phone with me; I’ll return it to him the first thing tomorrow. I flipped it open. It was an unknown caller id (a private number). What if it was important call? I’ll just tell them that he had forgotten his phone with me.
I placed the phone next to my ear cautiously. A dark, deep voice came through. “Ye finally picked up,” the man spoke to probably someone beside him. I was about to tell him that I had Jay’s phone but he started speaking again.
“Ey’ where’s the money? Bring it the usual place by tomorrow or else,” the man’s voice grew aggressive. “Your secret will be out?” What secret? Was this man blackmailing Jay?
The call ended.
I checked the time. It was three in the morning. What secret was that man talking about?
I fell back onto the bed, burying my head into his jacket as the distinct smell of his clone encased me. I tried falling asleep but sleep refused to dawn upon me. What was Jay hiding from the world under his pretty face?
