Ch-6 ★Untold stories
Song: Kiss me slowly by Parachute
Ch-6 ★ Untold stories
It was snowing. The snowflakes with small, beautiful designs floated from the grey sky above to the ground. They surrounded us like white shimmering confetti. The moon shone in the sky smiling at London. Jay was about to move back until I grabbed his hand. Hesitantly, I held onto his hand, my fingers wrapped around it. His hand was warm, providing me comfort in the cold night, shedding away the fear from my heart. It was him and he was all I needed-for now.
He looked at me, his eyebrows furrowed together as his memorizing brown eyes studied my face. “Dance with me.” I whispered. There was an indecisive expression on his face. “Please,” I urged him.
He finally gave in, nodding his head slightly with a small, wavering smile on his lips as his eyes shone with in the scanty moonlight.
A soft, melodious tune started playing from the speakers. Jay shook off his jacket in one shift motion, tossing it over to Dale who caught it with both his hands. Silence entwined the mellow tune of the song stirred the icy air.
He held both of my hands, placing them on his shoulders while he placed his own hands on my waist. Bringing me closer to him, he wrapped me in his body heat. I don’t know what we were doing. I don't know what I was doing.
I lost myself to music in its sweet sound, my body flowing with its tune. We were two birds in the sky, soaring through its expanse endlessly and beyond. Chasing after the sun for it was the hope that kept us going.
Then we parted ways, we had different pasts, different stories to tell. We separated from each other and moved on our own accord. The stories we were about to tell were the untold stories we had hidden inside our insecure hearts, burdening our souls. They were the things we feared to share with others.
Jay’s hands bolted high above his head telling a story of fame and glory. I reached forward signaling my attraction to his fame as a fan. His hands spread wide and above finally closing upon his heart, his eyes became bright with an joy unknown to me, the joy of love. Then suddenly his moves became rapid, labored and his eyes became misty. It was the story of his downfall. The things he had lost while gaining fame.
He brought his hands to his heart, slamming his chest telling me a story of betrayal. Jay curled up within himself in a sharp, quick gesture as he withdrew from me in a swift moment. It was the story of loneliness and gloom that had haunted him. Finally he leaped forward, reaching forward for something but there was this strange horror in his eyes as he realized he could not grasp it, he had lost something that could not be regained.
But that wasn’t the end of his story, he moved both of his hands upwards towards the sky, his arms were slanting sideways indicating the arrival of hope. Then his eyes darkened, there was a storm stirring inside of them, a storm of questions because that piece of hope was in reality a hidden curse for him. And that was the end of his untold story. The story I understood. It wasn’t spoken out loud but I understood it. In each and every gesture, the underlying scars of sorrows. I could see them. I could feel them under my skin.
The beat dropped. He wrapped his hand around my waist moving slowing to the music. He reached for my cheeks, cupping them in his warm palm as he wiped the tears that had somehow fallen from my eyes. His thumb gently stroked my face. I placed my hand on his chest, above his heart in the hope of taking away the burdened from his heart. I felt the steady thumps of his heart as an unknown feeling emerged through my soul. It was strange. No-words could describe it. My heart began beating faster than usual while mind spun in circles.
I stepped back. I didn’t like this feeling. It was irrational, confusing. It was scary for it loosened my control over myself. I didn’t like it. No, I didn’t need this feeling.
The music picked up its beat. I placed my foot by my knee doing a single wavering pirouette. It was the beginning of my existences. It showed wavering love of my parents. I brought one arm upwards and let the other arm drop showing the support of my mother when my father left. I spun around myself and jumping upwards indicating the gain of money. At this moment both of arms dropped because I had lost both of my parents by now. I brought both of my arms in front of chest like a defensive position. Those arms were my cage in which I lived, protecting myself from others, love, and anything that could hurt me. It was a strong cage which no-one could break.
Jay took hold of my arms bringing them down; he was trying to break through my cage. He held onto both of my hands and gave them a reassuring squeeze. He was trying to console me. He was asking me to trust him but I couldn’t trust him, not yet and maybe never.
Sharps notes of the viola echoed through air. Jay closed the gap between us. The gap was larger than the largest ocean and smaller than the smallest pebble. The gap was between two broken hearts which could only be joined by a little bit of love, the biggest healer in the world.
He held onto me, dancing through shower of snow. Snowflakes sat on his hair, sparkling in the moonlight.
We danced together like two swans on a frozen lake, gliding across the floor. Unconsciously each and every stepped matched, it clicked. Harmony was there. It wasn’t there because we were equally matched dancers. It was there because we understood each other. Our hearts had been linked through an unbreakable string. If I was the moon, he was the sun. We reflected the same light of the same origin.
“Beautiful, marvelous. What a heartfelt performance!” The Dale complimented us entering the circle. The crowd cheered and applauded loudly. We broke apart. The moment that had tied us together had been broken. Both of us had snapped back to reality. “You ‘all these two are the true definition of dancing soul mates,”
What had just happened? This couldn’t be real. All of this was nonsense. For a moment I had lost myself in the dance. For a moment, I had accepted Jay into my world. This couldn’t be right but did I know what right was? No! No I must stop myself and control all these stupid, irrational thoughts.
I looked over to Jay who looked just as shocked as me. His brown eyes briefly flickered to my face, Nostalgia covered his face. It looked as though he was going to fall sick any moment now. He shook his head for moment. There was confusion on his face. He ran his hand through his hair, looking a-lot older than he really was.
The crowd wouldn’t stop cheering for us. They chanted our names together loudly. Tepica came up to me, she looked star-struck. “You guys killed it, that was the best duo performances I’ve ever seen,” Her smile seemed to be getting bigger. “You were lying to me earlier weren’t you? There is something between you guys,”
I wasn’t paying attention to her. My feet collapsed beneath me as I lost balance. Jay caught onto me in time, holding me upright. He held on tightly to my shoulder for my entire side was pressed into his. “It’s time we head back,” His voice was layered with concern. “You’re worn-out,”

[Jay]
Newbury Highway, London
I pushed accelerator forward, driving cautiously through the large traffic. My car zoomed through the slippery, frozen road. I briefly looked to my right. Aulaura was sleeping soundly with her head leaning against the window as she held onto my jacket, which was draped across her bare shoulders, with the tips of her finger. In her sleep, she shivered slightly. I quickly reached for the heater’s knob turning it up. She was really tired.
I returned my attention to the road while my mind kept on reverting to my dance with her. What had happened to me? I had lost it completely letting Mr. Grey’s daughter come so close to me. What was wrong with me? I couldn’t afford to hurt her. Why did I bring her to dance fiesta? My fingers dug into the leather covering of the steering wheel. Because her tears had made my heart wrench in pain, I couldn’t see her cry. It was her birthday for god’s sake she should be happy but she wasn’t. I thought I had it bad. In her somber blue eyes, I had seen shattered pieces of hope. Someone or something had broken her only piece of hope. But why did I care? Who was she after all? Some rich man’s daughter?
No, she was so much more. She was someone who hid her pain and smiled for the world. She was someone who was trying to gain the things she had lost. She was someone who had a kind heart. Her friend, Sam that was her name, the girl who looked exactly like Melody had told me: that Aulaura had saved her life and had given her a roof over her head. Who does that these days? People barely have time to save themselves rather saving someone else.
“You don’t really have a choice when everything falls apart,” her words were echoing through my mind ever since. The same thing I said to Melody when she came to me. Damn it why was Aulaura so much like me. She was just as lost as I had once been. This was binding me to her, hooking my flesh and bones with her. I wanted her to be happy. I wanted to take her tears and make them vanish.
The stars were shining brightly that night when Melody stood my side on the terrace. She was there with me but she wasn’t there for me. The person I had known all my life was now a stranger to me. The distance between us could never be erased, we were worlds apart now.
“Why do you this?” she spoke, her eyes darting everywhere but me. “Just stop it. Why are you killing yourself with alcohol?”
I laughed. She was the reason that toxin came into my life. “You don’t really have a choice when everything falls apart,”
“Everyone has a choice,”
“Give me one,” she remained silent for a moment.
“Move on,” her voice was rigid. “Find someone new for yourself,”
“I can’t,” I whispered, clenching my hands into a fist. My fingers dug into flesh tearing it open as blood fell out of them. I was embarrassed to confess that I still need her as much as before.
“Or choose not to,”
“Why did you leave me?” This one question had stolen my peace, my sleep, and my everything.
She had no answer. Her silence haunts me till now. She had chosen not to give more pain by telling me she had fallen in love with someone else. That was why she remained silent then, sparing me a whole lot of pain.
“Hunter,” Aulaura murmured in her sleep. The way her was face contorted told me she was having a nightmare. Her chest was rising and falling rapidly as beads of sweat trickled down her forehead. “No, you-Sam...stay away from her,” she continued. Suddenly she started screaming. “Don’t hurt her! Keep away,” She was crying in her sleep. “You killed Sam. You monster! “She sobbed.
I steered the car to the side lane, parking it there. Unbuckling my belt, I reached for her, shaking her shoulder. She stirred, shifting her body towards my side. Few strands of her brown hair fell in front of her face, hiding her striking features.
Cold shivers ran down her body as she tightly gripped my jacket. I shook her shoulders again, placing one hand on her arm. Finally she peeled her blue eyes open, there was frozen terror in them. Her skin looked ghostly, pale.
“Are you okay?” I asked shifting back into my seat, removing my hands from her body.
She nodded her head, not meeting my eyes. She turned to look out the window, watching the snow slide along the tinted glass. Her small, childlike fingers traced the melted droplets of snow.
I started the car again, steering it back into the lane. “Were you having a nightmare? You were talking about Hunter,”
Her finger froze on the glass. She remained silent leaving me to guess the details. I saw him dancing with her at the fiesta in very vulgar manner, I saw the way she stopped dancing for a moment looking as though she had seen a ghost.
“I understand you don’t want to tell me. But you should stay away from Hunter.” He was a regular at the fiesta. There many bad rumors going around about him. Some said that he had been criminal who had escaped from jail. Others said he was the leader of some gang. Whoever he was, he was not the right type of guy. He was someone from whom Mr. Grey’s daughter should stay away. “He’s a dangerous man,”
“I know,” She whispered, letting her hands fall.
I hesitated before asking the next question, this was none of my business but I couldn’t stop myself. “Have you guys met before?”
“No,” She sighed. She closed her eyes, resting her head on the window. I didn’t bother her anymore.
Silence was our companion for the rest of the journey.
