Ch-26 ★Bullet

Ch-26  ★Bullet

            [Jay]

A loud deafening scream jolted right up in bed. My eyes adjusted to the sparse light in the grand room. I heard it again that same sharp scream. It was coming from the room next door. Aulaura.

God, something was wrong. Something was deadly wrong.

My feet carried me away from bed; in an instant the comforter slipped off my bare chest- cold floors hit my feet.  I could feel my hands tremble terribly as I unlocked the door to her room.

There she sat in tangled bundle of sheets. The lights were on.  I approached her cautiously. Her entire body shook with sobs and her eyes they were bloodshot red- the same color as her highlights.

I sat down next to her, taking her shoulders in my hands. I made her turn to face me. She took me in, unsettling fear in her eyes as tears left them faster with each passing second.

I wound my arms around her. She sunk into me, resting her head on my chest. I could feel her tears against my skin. Agonizing pain encompassed my heart. It took each and every fiber in my body to bear her torn state.

She wound her arms around my neck. “Jay-ay” She croaked.

“I’m here,” I whispered in her ear. “It’s going to be alright,”

Her grip tightened, she rose to sit on her knees with her entire side pressed against mine.  She shook her head. “It’s not. It’s never going to be alright,”

I brought lifted her in my arms, so she would be sitting in my lap, slowly I unwound my arms from her-she let me go as well. I titled her head so she would meet my eyes. “What happened? Bad Dream?”

“I’ve made big mistake,” She rambled, staring at her hand as though she had committed a murder. “I’m a monster. Monster! What have I done? I’ve gone insane. This isn’t what I was supposed to do.” She began shivering with each and every word the jolts of terror would increase. What in the world was she talking about?

Panic crawled under my skin. I had no idea on how to calm her down.

“How could I? How? I- I” She cried on.

I have to do this. I have to calm her down before she loses it.  I cupped her face in my hands. She stared at me but she wasn’t looking at me, no, her mind was still trapped in that dream she had.

I have to bring her back. I have to bring her back before it’s too late. Before my mind could restrain me, I smashed my lips against hers.

For a moment, I felt her freeze in my arms. Slowly, I could feel her lips move against mine. The dead weight like heart sped inside my chest. She placed her hands on my chest. I think she could feel it. I know that’s what made her respond with more force.

My arms lowered her onto the bed, the silk sheets getting caught in our legs. I lay on top of her, my eyes shut, her body underneath. I placed my arms on either side of her face, not wanting to choke her with my weight.

She hands fell off chest and began wondering on my back. It was getting harder and harder for me to control myself. A moan escaped my lips before I could stop it, her lips parted letting me gain entrance to her mouth. A sweet vanilla like taste entered my mouth.

My senses were in overdrive. This was pure heaven. I don’t think I’ve ever felt like this before. My heart was wild, an insane beast pounding wildly in my rib-cage.

I lowered myself, closer to her. Her entire front side was pressed against mine. I don’t think we realized the enormity of the situation.

Before thing got out of hand, I pushed myself away from her. In a second, I was sitting next to her.

She didn’t make move to get up and just laid there on the bed, breathless and flustered. Her cheeks were stained a light flush pink and her eyes they were less red then before.

She titled her head to look at me with a smile so small that I would have missed if I weren’t watching her so closely.  “Damn,” She breathed out. “You make everything feel so right,”

I smirked. “Now you understand what I feel,”

She furrowed her eyebrows together, in confusion. “What do you mean?”

I moved a strand of hair from her face, my fingers lingering on her cheeks for a second longer. “I should go now,”

            “You didn’t answer my question,”

I sighed, shrugging my shoulders. “Some questions don’t have answers,”

She didn’t press further. Instead she just watched me with a solemn expression. “Or you just refuse to tell me,” She finally whispered.

            “Why do say that?”

It was her turn to smirk. “Some questions don’t have answers,”

            “Touché”

[Aulaura]

Jay had left me few hours ago. My nightmare still replayed itself vividly in my mind.  After wresting with the bed sheets for hours I finally gave up and tossed the blankets on the floor.

I literally couldn’t breathe. Perspiration stuck icily to my skin. Every small gust of wind from the open window would cause me to shiver.

I closed my lids in the hope of making my pulse return to normal.

Instead I felt it hike up as the scenes from the nightmare began flashing in front my eyes.

A black gun was pointed in the direction of a shadow. There was loud bang and the shadow collapsed. All I could see was blood and more blood. My eyes shifted to look at my palms. They were soaked in blood. Jay held my hand, smiling at me brightly.

He leaned down, his breath falling against my cheek. “Now it’s your turn to pay,”

And then another bullet was fired. It hit me right in the gut.

I gasped as my eyes shot open. I looked down at my hands. They were covered with sweat.

I ran from the room. I ran far from it. Before I knew it, I was inside Jay’s room which was surprisingly unlocked. It was like he was expecting me to come.

When I stepped inside the dark room, I saw his body shift on the coral shaped bed. He got up and turned on the bedside table lamps.

“Couldn’t sleep, huh?” he smiled, sitting cross-legged on the bed. I didn’t notice earlier that he was shirtless. There was a long thin scar running along the front of his chest.  Beneath it the words, Muse were scribbled in a neat cursive.

Averting my eyes from the tattoo, I ran up to him and wrapped my arms around him. He leaned into me, burying his head into my hair. “What’s wrong Aura?” It felt after years he had addressed me by my nickname.

My nails dug into his raw flesh. The image of a bullet getting wedged inside my gut still fresh in my mind.

“Seriously, tell me why are you so scared?”

I closed my eyes, not finding the words to say. “Just a nightmare,” I finally whispered.

He pulled back, angrily, his sharp jaw in a tensed line “Just a nightmare. Right? Well you’re stronger than that. The Aura I know doesn’t get scared because of just a nightmare,”

His brown eyes that were usually warm and sometimes dark, now they looked so terrified and frustrated. He looked frustrated.

I placed my palm on his cheek in the hope of calming him down but it had the opposite effect. He placed his hand on top of mine, clutching it tightly.

“Aulaura, what are you hiding from me?”

Everything. “Nothing,” My hand dropped from his cheek.

His smirked, it wasn’t a pleasant one. Literally it felt like he look beneath my skin and see each and every lie slipping through my lips.

“Ah, the way you lie,” He lips gazed above cheek, placing a fluttering kiss there. I felt my heart go in over drive. Goosebumps rose on my skin as my stomach churned in a strange manner. Shit.

“Come on,” He moved back, smiling. “I’m tired and I really wanna sleep,”

“Okay,” I sighed, leaning into him. “You don’t mind me joining. Do you?”

I got my answer as Jay turned the lights off and pulled me to his side of the bed. He wound his arms tightly around me.

“Never,” He whispered into my ear before I fell into a dreamless slumber.
