After a strange lunch, time zoomed by, and before I knew it school was over and I was on my way to the grocery store to pick up a few items my mom needed. It wouldn't hurt if I pick out a few items for me as well right?

Some vanilla Oreos, another bag of Doritos, oh, and of course my sour patch kids.

I can't forget about those darn sour patch kids

I can't wait to shove my face in that bag of those sour kids.

First, they're sour then they're sweet

I went through every aisle and began tossing everything that was on the list in the shopping cart.

I felt like a baller
I felt like LeBron James

I got some looks from some concerned parents but that didn't stop me from throwing these three-pointer shots into the shopping cart. I looked at the shopping cart and noticed all the junk food I was going to buy. My mother told me to buy exactly eight items and I have at least 25.

I am one unhealthy son of a-

"Oh look some popsicles, great for practice," I said to myself before laughing to myself, I am a joke. I walked to one aisle in the back and began doing some jumping jacks and a few squats. You know just throwing in some exercises before I go stuff my face with junk food. Just so I won't feel bad for myself later when the food is all gone and it's in my system.

Once I got home I received a long lecture from my mother on how I shouldn't spend my money on junk food and save up in case of an emergency.

Well at least I spent my money on something that makes me happy

I quickly got to work on my homework and I finally realized that today is Thursday and tomorrow I will attend my first high school party. Part of me is excited and the other half is extremely nervous. And on top of that, Nina is the one who is picking out my outfit so I have no clue what I'm wearing until tomorrow night which is nerve-racking. I reached for my phone and texted Nina.

Me- hey girl by any chance can I see the outfit you picked out for me? Haha :)

Nina- haha no :)

Me- just a little preview best friend :) <3

Nina replied with a picture but I couldn't make it out to be anything.

Me- what is that?

Nina- what you wanted a preview of our outfit for tomorrow night ;) btw will it be cool if I go to your house straight after school and help you pack a bag?

Me- um I can't tell what my outfit is bestie :'( take a better picture, try zooming out! and of course, you can come to my house. What bag do I need to pack?

Nina- you're sleeping over hoe!! Great see you tomorrow. And don't worry your outfit is totally you, I wouldn't want for you to be uncomfortable at your first party. Let's leave that for the second party you go to ;)!

I finished up my homework and decided to look through my photos on my phone. Many are sad attempts of me trying to take a decent selfie and a lot are of Nina making funny faces to the camera when she secretly takes my phone, and some are of my family. I swiped to the next picture to be greeted with a picture of my brother and me just three months before he left. His arm was wrapped around my shoulders bringing me closer to him as we both smiled wide to the camera.

I decided to reach out for him which is something I haven't done in such a long time since I gave up. He didn't respond to any of my messages, Instagram messages, phone calls, emails. I opened up my phone book on my phone and looked for his name.

I pressed the button and held my phone to my ear.

"Hello..." I held my hand to my mouth, it had been so long since I heard his voice.

"Hey, Zayn, sorry I-" I spoke.

"Hey, it's you... I have not talked to you in a while..." he continued to say through the phone.

"Yes it's me, I've tried-" I tried speaking again but I was cut off.

"I have a secret to tell you..."

"What is it?" I asked desperately wanting to know if he was going to tell me why he left so suddenly.

"I'm not here right now so leave a message after the tone," he said laughing I then heard the beep.

That little fucker

Just as I thought he was going to pick up on the last ring I was sent to his voicemail. He still has the same number since he updated his voicemail. But did he change it recently?

Is he still alive?

Is he ok?

I then decided to send him a text message.

Me- hey Zayn it's me, Zoe remember me? It's been such a long time since I've spoken and seen you. Are you doing good? Are you ok? Please reply I miss you.

Well, I officially believe I must have the bad luck of not getting a text back. The night soon came and the morning came even quicker. Last night I spent a couple of hours DMing Julian. We had a lot in common. Our parents were strict with our education and lifestyle choices, we had the same taste in music and so much more. It felt nice talking to someone I can actually relate to. It was different and I liked different. I got out of bed quickly making it and took a hot shower and decided to wear school shorts and a long-sleeved shirt with some high-top Converse for a change.

I let my long hair down and started to apply my makeup before heading downstairs grabbing a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese grabbed my Arizona tea from the fridge and ran to get my bag and left to school.

Once I got to school I was walking to my picnic table and saw Alexander sitting there on his phone. Just then I got a notification. I looked down and saw it was from Julian instantly bringing a smile to my face.

Julian-good morning beautiful I hope you woke up today with a smile on your face because that's one of the prettiest things I've ever seen in my life. I hope you have a great day today.

I stopped walking and read the message the smile on my face grew wider.

Me- thank you, Julian you are very sweet :) I hope you have an amazing day as well

I heard a notification sound go off similar to mine as I settled my bag on the table and sat down next to Alex. 

"Good morning you're here early," I stated the obvious, Alex normally gets to school just a few minutes before the bell rings.

"I wanted to meet up with you early. Spring break is next week and I wanted to show something and see if you like it," He reached into his bag pulled out his notebook, and flipped it open to where a blank sheet. And then reached back into his bag and pulled out a ziplock bag that had small folded sheets of different color paper.

"So I was thinking the first day we should go to two places. To start off the week, on Monday we can visit the Museum of Moving Images and maybe hit up a different spot after to grab a bite to eat maybe Town Square if we're up for it. I also think Central Park Zoo would be nice since you have never been to the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum because that sounds very cool. And then for the rest of the week, we can pick them out of this bag so it's completely random and every place has an equal chance of getting picked." He said. I looked at him in awe. 

What a thoughtful hunk of a man

"Yeah, that sounds good," I said moving closer to him to see him filling in Monday. A couple of minutes later I saw Nina head our way with her partner and they sat in front of us, they discussed what they were going to do as well until it was time to go to our first period.

After school, I met up with Nina and we both headed to my car. "This is so exciting, I'm going to dress you up, do your make-up and hair. AHHH!" She yelled loudly swigging her bag and running to my car like a crazy woman.

Once I got in I buckled myself up and turned my car. "Nina, isn't it weird that Alex and his friends sat with us at lunch?" I asked lowering the volume to the radio that I blasted this morning. "I mean we aren't close friends with them heck, we never were so why are they getting close to us all of a sudden?" I continued looking over at her once I stopped at a red light. "It is a bit strange but maybe they want to get to know us. I mean we are pretty awesome and we're cute as hell. Puberty did hit us like a damn train. I lost my double chin, got contacts, and I don't have braces anymore you grew into your body getting some meat in your ass and growing some boobs, and don't forget you got rid of your unibrow that was ready to fly away at any moment. That really scared guys away, your aunt did you good with that waxing strip." She said laughing.

"It wasn't that bad," I said remembering how my aunt ripped off my unibrow.

That shit hurt

After making a quick stop at McDonald's almost buying everything on the menu we arrived at my house. "Hey, Mom," I said walking into the kitchen. "Hey, sweetie how was school?" She asked kissing me on the forehead. "It was good finally on break," I replied as Nina entered the kitchen holding the food. "Nina my dear how are you? I haven't seen you in such a long time." My mom said pulling her to a bone-crushing hug.

"I know I missed you so much!" Nina exclaimed hugging her back. "Would it be ok if Zoe spent the night at my house?" Nina asked with puppy eyes. My mom looked at me then at Nina "I don't see why not sure, another girls' night?" She asked thinking we were only going to pig out and stare at a TV. screen. 

Not today mama we got plans

Nina squealed and told my mom yes before hugging her mom again and then she proceeded to pull me upstairs to my room and then locked the door. "Ok Zoe you cannot and I repeat cannot tell your mom you're going to a party. She will lose her shit and she will not let you go. So let's quickly eat this delicious junk food that will definitely bring harm to our body, so we can then pack our bags and get on the road. The road called Zoe's first high school party." Nina said and again she said it with rapid arm movements. I'm guessing that's her new thing.

Within 20 minutes we ate our meals and Nina helped me pack. We said goodbye to my mother and left her house.

After a 20-minute drive, we arrived at her house and we rushed in. She pushed me into the bathroom and threw a new razor my way "Here shave everything and I mean everything please don't miss a spot, I don't want to see a patch of hair you accidentally missed." She said grabbing a towel and hanging it by the shower. "Now you go shower I'm going to do my eyebrows they look like damn caterpillars." She turned around as I stripped down and hopped right in. I made sure to apply shaving gel so I wouldn't cut myself, those razor cuts hurt like a mother trucker dude. "I need to talk to you about something. Now don't be mad, OK?" Nina said as I started shaving my right leg.

I knew whatever was going to come out  of her mouth was going to be bad

"What did you do?" I replied knowing I was not going to like what she was going to tell me. I've known Nina for eight years I know her very well, something bad is coming. "Well, you see um it's what's best for you, I promise! You'll end up thanking me later." She said walking closer to the shower. I popped my head out of the shower "What did you do Nina?" I said glaring at her. "I promise you're going to laugh, it's all going to be good. I kindofgotyouadatetogotothepartywith." She rushed out all at once without taking a breath but I understood exactly what she said.

"What the hell did you just say?" I asked so she could repeat herself again and so I could process that through my big head again. She looked down at her feet and then spoke "I kind of got you a date to go to the party with. He's a nice guy, I'm sure you will love him." She said looking at me apologetically. " Why will you do that?" I yelled. "What in your right damn mind will allow you to do that Nina! Who the hell is this guy anyway?" I shouted.

"Well.... you remember my friend's cousin who has a brother? Well, he has a friend and he's single and he's ready to mingle and he was going alone third-wheeling his friends and you're going alone so I kind of put y'all two together, and here we are. He's coming with us tonight. You're going to meet Joshua tonight" She said giving me an awkward smile.

Cheese jerky say what?

I turned off the water and got out of the shower still with shaving gel all over my legs and grabbed the towel. "Nina my dear best friend why would you do that? Why don't you go with him since you felt the need to pair him up with me since I don't have a date? From my knowledge you do not have a date yourself, so he's your date for the night." I said walking past her into her bedroom. "But Zoe." She started off saying stomping her feet and walking over to me but I cut her off before she said anything else. "I'm not going to the party with him," I told her strictly.

"But you're his date!" She said loudly plotting down next to me. "No, I'm not. I didn't agree to it, I had no say in what you promised him, so you can go to this party with your date, Joshua. Now please show me the outfit you chose for me tonight." I told her smiling wide at her.

She walked over to her closet stomping as the child she can be sometimes and grabbed two hangers. "I know you want to be comfortable of course, but I also really want you to look good so I picked out two different outfits that are super cute and I'm going to let you pick." She mumbled and turned around and showed me both outfits. They both had the same color scheme.

"Woah these are super pretty," I said walking towards her. "I know I'm amazing at this. So which one of these popping outfits is going to be the one?" I chose the first outfit and laid it out on the bed and hopped in the shower again to finish shaving. After shaving I grabbed the lotion from her dresser and started to apply it to my skin and got dressed in my outfit while Nina got dressed in an edgy outfit.

She played music as we finished getting ready she did both our hair and makeup since she enjoyed being a stylist, and that is what she plans on doing for the rest of her life. It was now around 8:30 when Nina rushed to her front door leaving me behind as I slowly went down the stairs not wanting to bust my ass tripping down the stairs.

She pulled open the door and started waving at someone. I finally stood next to her to see three people get out of the car. The couple, Ruby and Victor, walked ahead of the guy and they hugged Nina and said hello. They moved on to hugging me giving me a clear view of the guy behind them.

A wide grin took over my face as I looked at him, he grinned back at me and I went to hug him.

"Well, Joshua seems like I will be-" Nina started of saying until I cut her off. "She means we should start going to the party. Let's go, Joshua, you are my date after all." I said dragging him to the car I turned my neck and shot Nina a big smile which she questioned.

We were in the car for about half an hour almost 45 minutes and Joshua hasn't said a word yet.

The party was being held in upstate New York where all the big houses were. We arrived and found parking then started to gather our things to head inside. "Let's go party!" Nina yelled pulling my arm. I turned back to look at Joshua looking at the house where loud music was coming from.

"Joshua are you scared or what?" Victor said as he stopped walking and turned to him.

'Heck we can get killed together' I wanted to say. But I chose to stay quiet. "I'm 15 I shouldn't be here I should be home working on homework that was given to me for spring break." He shouted before Victor clammed his mouth shut with his hand.

I turned my head quickly to face Nina as she gave me the 'oh shit' look. And mouthed 'I didn't know' giving me another apologetic look.

"What in your right mind would give you the idea to bring a 15-year-old kid to a high school party where there will be drinks and so much more!" I yelled at Victor as I looked over to Joshua who was looking at the house with fear.

I was crushing on a damn 15-year-old boy.

I have to say I love a classic cheese pizza and if I have to chose to put something on top it will be ham! I know I'm lame but it is what it is. :)

I STRONGLY believe pineapples do not belong on pizza that is disgusting. #sorrynotsorry
And anyone who disagrees with me we can fight!

My brother loves it and a lot of the time we order half of cheese and the other half  Hawaiian and if I get a slice of pizza that was next to the Hawaiian my slice will have a few pieces that fell onto my side when they were making it and it's so nasty! I always end up spitting it out and my appetite is gone like the wind :(
