6 - I'll Protect Her
Jason's POV
I threw on my jersey and kleets. The rest of the team was already out, but I was running late like always. I wasn't passionate about soccer, I was just good. It was a way to focus on something other than the struggle of life.
But now I was focusing on Piper.
She was outside in the crowd, waiting to see me play. I was nervous, even afraid of messing up. I-
"Yo Grace!" Dylan came into the locker room. He wasn't on the soccer team, so he wasn't allowed here right now.
"You do you want?"
"My girlfriend." Dylan wasn't alone. Two large dudes from the football team came in, both a couple inches taller than me, and buff. Okay I have abs, but mine are real. These guys were most likely on steroids or something.
"She's not gonna take you back if you try to hurt me," I said, emphasizing the word try. I bet I could take them on. Plus, I had some hard shoes on.
"I have my ways, Jason, and I won't hurt her if you leave her alone."
My heart basically stopped. "Her?"
"You heard me. I bet if I hurt you, she'd just love you more and like me less. Why not be there when you aren't? Just
stay away from her, and she'll keep that pretty face of hers."
"You can't hurt her, Dylan. I'll protect her."
"You sure, Jason? Because you can't protect her 24/7."
"Watch me," I growled. The couch chose that moment to walk in.
"Grace! Get your butt out on the field!" He hollered, kicking us all out of the locker room. Dylan and I shot each other one last glare, and I ran onto the field.
The game was a mess. Long story short, we lost. My head wasn't in the game, and I kept looking into the crowd for Piper to make sure she was okay. Dylan and his gang weren't here; they probably left.
At the end, Piper came running to me. "What happened to you? Were you hurt?" She asked tons of questions.
"I'm alright, Pipes. I just didn't get enough sleep last night," I lied. Piper bought it, looking sort of suspicious.
We went our separate ways after that, jumping into our own cars. I had the urge to go after her, but she would be fine at her own home.
That night, I got a text from everyone's favorite guy, Dylan. Don't ask me how he got my number.
One week, Grace, before she becomes my doll. Break up with her or I'll make her miserable.
He then wrote his name. I didn't get any more texts that night.
I guess I had one week to figure things out.
