2 - the End of the World
Jason's POV
The day after I met her, she came to my house. Piper was wearing a blue blouse and black pants. Her brown, choppy hair looked really good.
"Hey Piper." I opened the door to my house, letting her in.
"Hi. I brought the poster paper."
"Great. Let's go up to my room."
My house was filled with noise. My sister Thalia and her all girl rock band, the Hunters of Artemis, were practicing in the basement. My dad, Jupiter, was on the phone in his study. I led Piper up the stairs to a large, sky blue colored room.
"What's that music downstairs?" Piper asked.
"Oh that. That's my sister, Thalia."
"They sound pretty good."
"They are. Now come on, let's start the project."
After an hour, we were done with the painting. There was a lot of red, different shades were splattered across poster paper. Little people were running, but no one could escape. Everyone dies at some point. It felt nice, in a way, seeing the picture. It felt like a nightmare, but at the same time it felt like reading a storybook. Buildings collapsed, crumbling down on innocent people; men, women, children. But no one's actually innocent. No soal is totally pure.
"Earth to Jason?"
I snapped out of my awkward trance, shaking my head. Piper smirked.
"What happened?" I asked, slightly embarrassed.
"You sorta zoned out. What happened to you?"
"Oh, I was just thinking."
"Sure, if you say so."
"Um yeah. Do you want something to eat?"
"Sure."
"Okay, I'll be right back," I said, heading down the stairs. I grabbed a bowl, microwaved some popcorn, and ran back up the steps. Piper was looking at her phone with a confused expression.
"Oh I didn't see you," she said.
"What's wrong?"
"It's my ex. We broke up yesterday and he keeps texting me."
I was sort of relieve to hear she didn't have a boyfriend. Me hanging out with her alone wasn't as awkward.
"What happened?" I asked, handing her the bowl of popcorn. She took it thankfully, and we sat back down on my light grey carpet.
"He cheated on me, with Drew Tanaka. He's such a jerk." A few tears fell from Piper's multi-colored eyes, but she wiped them away.
"It's okay to cry, you know."
"Sorry, Jason. I gotta go."
With that, Piper gathered her things and left me, the popcorn, and the painting alone.
What kind of sick person would cheat on someone as amazing as Piper?
