After five days, dozen of phone calls and uncountable texts it was time for Cameron to leave his so called comfort zone, he told Shawn he was ready to go home and talk to his mother. Shawn agreed with him, putting aside his desire to ask Cameron to stay one more night, just one more.
No one can blame him, living with Cameron was a daydream and he wasn't fond to woke up just yet. There was no schedule to follow, no responsibilities to comply, they slept till noon, made breakfast together, play games and watch sports and tickling fights during the afternoon and evening, went for late night driving through the city looking for something different to eat and sex, of course, blissful sex every night before a fresh shower and go back to sleep.
It was not, for sure, the best plans of all but they were together, carefree and happy.
Cameron decided to spend the afternoon with his friends first, he needed to talk with them, he wanted to open up and face the storm all at once. He hoped both Matt and Hayes would accept him. He wasn't sure how things might end with his mom so having his best mates to support him is all he could wish for.
For his luck, Matt got a scholarship for the Toronto University as well, but with a different major, software engineer. Hayes in the other hand got an scholarship for the York University, also located in Toronto, not so far yet not so close form Matt and his university. Hayes is going to follow his mother's major as a psychologist. So it was in the plans to hang out the three of them as much as they could before parting their ways.
When the time had come and Cameron confessed his sexuality to his friends, he didn't expect to see the reaction coming from Matt and Hayes. The first spitted his soda all over the table, they were having some snacks and watching some videos from the last game of the finals, their championship, Hayes' mom recorded the game. Hayes just looked at Cameron without saying a word, wide opened eyes.
"What?" Matt said trying to catch a breathe.
"Do I really have to repeat?"
"No, Cam. Of course not- but.. how?" Matt asked surprised.
"I'm definitely not going to tell you how I've found out" Cameron said chuckling, there's no way for him to explain that he fell over heels for their history teacher, or said that he cursed before sleep hugging Shawn's shirt when the realization hit him in the night after one ruined party.
"Yeah, you're right. That sounds weird to explain" Matt said and stared at the TV, his mind was clearly somewhere else, Cameron assumed he was processing the news.
Hayes broke the not so comfortable silence minutes later. "I knew it"
"Excuse me, what? How?"
"I meant, not that you're gay. I knew you were hiding something from us. You always seemed busy at school" Hayes explained. "I also tried to talk more with you at some point but you were secretive so I let it be. Thought you'd come to us and talk when you were ready" Hayes finished.
Cameron agreed. "Well, you were not wrong"
"And the fact that you didn't dated any girl after Hannah, that too" Matt said out of blue. Cameron held his laughter. "Yeah, that seems pretty obvious" he said shaking his head in disbelief.
"That's fine mate" Matt said.
"Really? You two are okay with that?" Cameron asked, he had to. It wasn't him seeking a validation, he just needed to be sure.
"Of course Cam, why wouldn't us be okay? We are friends. Friends support each other. Right Hayes?" Matt said.
"Right" Hayes nodded.
"Right" Cameron repeated. He actually wanted to thank them for being supportive with him, even more after what happened with his family but he decided to keep it for another time, another conversation. The three of them continued on watching the videos normally and remembering the best night of their lives thus far.

After a couple of minutes hesitating, Cameron twisted the knob and enter his house after almost a week. He felt odd, not like something changed in his absence. Everything looked right exactly the same, however he felt different because there were now bad memories attached to his house, no matter the time or even if he fix things with his mom, the memories of that day will forever live with him, not haunting him or he wished so, but it happened and he can't change that.
"Cam?" He heard Gina's voice. A bit raspy and broken, like she was crying for several days. He walked into the living room.
"Mom..."
"Oh Cam" Gina sobbed. "My baby" She ran to embrace him. Cameron reciprocated the hug immediately.
"Mom don't cry" Cameron said feeling a knot in his throat. All he never wanted is to see his mom crying.
"I'm so so sorry baby, I'm sorry. I love you. Please believe me. I love you baby" Gina said in their embrace. Cameron couldn't reply. He didn't find the words to be honest. He was expecting in his best bet a serious Gina trying to talk without another fight. Not this, not a broken Gina in his arms.
"It's okay mom. Please quit crying"
"Please listen to me, I really need you to forgive me" Gina pleaded.
"Fine, let's talk".

After what seemed hours of listen his mom saying her I'm sorry, Cameron also apologized for not coming home earlier, he said that he needed to cool off and it actually helped. That he probably have forgiven her days prior. The time away helped him to accepted himself as person, an adult per se.
Gina said she wouldn't lie saying that it was still a huge difference in their lives but she offered him endlessly support and promised she would bring Dan, Cameron's father, into his senses or else she might prohibit him the entrance of the house. Cameron really tried to not think about his father at the moment. Having his mom and sister's support is more than enough.
What surprised Cameron was that Gina was really into being supportive, like she wasn't in mood to waste time and she looked ready to be the mother Cameron actually needs. They were having pasta for dinner, just the two of them on the dining table since Sierra went out with her friends, Cameron and Gina were talking and eating peacefully when she said something that Cameron wasn't expecting.
"Did you know Shawn? Karen's son? He's gay too..." And Cameron choked on his food, he wasn't sure what was air for several seconds. He hurried and drank some water to finally be capable to breathe.
"What?" He asked. Not that it was brand new information for him. He questioned actually why his mom decided to talk about Shawn.
"Your teache- well, ex teacher. He is gay. Karen told me"
"Oh, right" Cameron's mind went white. No thoughts.
"Karen is really proud of him, you should hear her talking. He is young and already achieved what he wanted to be"
"Well, I- I didnt know that" Cameron lied, he hated doing it again but it was needed.
"I think with should invite them for a dinner here or at somewhere else. Us four" Gina looked at Cameron, he was astonished and speechless. "Don't you think its a good idea? She came when you left and really helped me to understand"
"Yeah" Cameron responded. "It's fine"
"Seeing them as mother and son that live the same can help us" Gina said.
"I guess so" That was all what Cameron could say, there wasn't more or he didn't wanted to think so much about it. He just sighed looked at his mom whom was grinning and eating. He just wanted to know if Shawn was okay with the idea because that dinner can be end in a good way or be a complete disaster.

A/N: Plot development again.
It sucks, I know.
However the next few chapters are going to be very important ones for this story but I'm afraid I won't be able to post soon, I will be a bit busy the next couple of days and I don't want to rush my writing. They're really important chapters and you guys deserve my best, which isn't too much but I'm trying. So bear with me with the time and thank you for sticking up.
Loads of love.
