MENDES' POV:

It's finally 8pm, I'm waiting for Nath in front of her house; we decided to go at Nash's in one car and that probably means that she's ready to drink tonight, since I'm not very into parties I'm used only to drink at home or family parties.

We also decided to match our outfits, at first I wasn't sure about why she would ask me to do this but then she confessed that her ex is likely to attend the party since he's friend of Hamilton as well and I was going to be her date for tonight, now I can understand why she was very insistent about this party.

Actually I don't care about pretending to be her partner, that means I'm going to spend the night next to her and our friends and I won't be the loser who's alone sitting on the couch, and meeting new people isn't in my plans anymore.

Arriving at Nash's new place I get impressed at his enormous entry hall, the dude really worked hard for this, he studied architecture and saved every penny since school to build as he says the house of his dreams.

"Mendes! Welcome to my house, our house bro." He says embracing me.
"Nash this is huge! Congratulations, you made it bro" I say hugging him back.
"Means a lot that you're here with us, like the old times" we pull out of the hug and he handed me a red solo cup I refuse showing him my keys.
"I'll got you water or soda later but let me hug you again" and we hug again.
"I missed you man, we missed you here" he says making this hug more friendly.
"I missed you all, I'm back" I say and he smiles.
"Can I join the hug? I'm feeling excluded" Nath jokes and we made a big hug together.
"We are back" she says and we all smile.
Nash and Nathalia are my best friends.

"I'll get you something, feel like home Shawn, Nathalia!" Nash says going to the kitchen to get some drinks.
"Let's explore the house" Nath says and we start our tour.

We are now chatting in our group of friends, they are telling me stories that happened when I was at college; some of those are pretty crazy let me tell you.
Suddenly I feel Nathalia getting closer and interlocking our hands, seems that our scene has already started.

Minutes later of keep talking I decide to look around and maybe visualize Nath's ex but another person got my attention, Cameron.

I notice him at the other side of the living room with a couple of friends, my students with red cups on their hands, that really let me curious and worried.

I have to admit that seeing him out of school makes me feel empathy for him, it's not that I don't like him; we just didn't have the best start of a student-teacher relationship.

Also notice that he looks more mature with casual clothes, maybe he isn't just the popular captain of the team that believes he can do anything he wants, maybe I should start again my relationship with him.

Nash handed me another cup of soda and I thanks him, I look up to Cameron again and realize that he was looking at me, I lifted my cup in form of saying hello and he just nods.

DALLAS' POV:

Finally here we are... Matt, Hayes and I. We are at Nash's party ready to have fun and maybe get some phone numbers of the stunning girls that are around, they might be a bit older but maybe their experience can help me to find what I'm looking for.

Few minutes later I noticed a big group talking, laughing and drinking next to the chimney, Mr Mendes is there as well, what is he doing here? I started to feel tense just looking at him.

Impress me that teachers even laugh!

He is next to a girl, half hugging her at her waist with one of his arms, she might be his girlfriend; they do look good and happy together.

Hayes' brother handed him a cup and he lifts his gaze to my direction, he greeted me from the distance and I just nodded.
I hope he doesn't feel weird after caught me staring at him, but I just couldn't help it, he is haunting me since day one.

Matt and Hayes are already talking with some girls, I just haven't found anyone interesting tonight.

Heading to the kitchen to fill my cup again I notice Mr Mendes entering the room as well.

"Nice party, isn't it?" He asks opening the fridge.
"Kinda" I reply shortly.
"Aren't you young to drink beer Cameron?" He is drinking water from the bottle, even doing that he looks perfect.
"This is not the school" he looks at me and smiles.
"Are you ready for the home game tomorrow?" He asks again crossing his arms, I hate when he does that.
"I would have practice more if I haven't spent my time doing a report, but you know. School things" I say and he laughs.
"Yes, that teacher must be annoying" he keeps laughing but then he notices my serious grin and stops.
"I know you're capable Cameron" he adds and I feel the warm of his word.
I was about to respond but...
"Here you are Shawn" his girlfriend interrupts us.
"I was looking for you" she adds.
"I was having a convo with Cameron, my student" he introduces me and I just nod.
"Oh hi" she says and I wave at her.
"Let's go" she's pulling him out of the room.
"Get a good rest Cameron, so we can start in a different way the day tomorrow" he says leaving the room.

Lying in my bed already, I left the party early after talking with Mr Mendes, I was supposed to sleep over Hayes' but he was very occupied with a girl so I decided to come home with a Uber.

Since his last words I couldn't stop but thinking about him, not everything related to him seems wrong. But yet again he's probably just testing me.

He has a cute smile and a good sense of humour and he really looks happy with that girl.

I wish someday I would be as good as Shawn is.
