4 Sneaking around is kinda sexy
The rest of the day was a breeze.
When I finally got back to my dorm I face planted onto my bed and almost fell asleep. I had so much on my mind I really just wanted to relax, I mean it's only the first day.
But unfortunately Tang walked in and I knew she deserved an explanation so I sat up.
She stormed in frustrated, throwing her math book onto her bed and then faced me. "Well I hope you've had an amazing day." She said with a tinge of bitterness in her tone.
I swallowed hard "I can explain, I didn't mean to ignore you."
Her eyebrows shot up "You read my text messages E, what could you have been doing that was so life altering important?! It's our first day and I had to eat alone like a complete loner."
I sighed "I'm sorry but not everyone's lives revolve around you. I met a guy..." I said in a soft voice hoping she'd be happy for me.
She sighed and sat down "You stood me up for a dude."
I shrugged "He's really cute though."
She rolled her eyes "Like, Jung Hoseok kinda cute?"
"Who?"
"Your Psychology professor duh."
"Oh" I laughed uncomfortably. I wouldn't tell Tang about how I felt about Mr.Jung. It was embarrassing.
"Cuter." I lied. Ryan was by no means any where near as perfect as Mr.Jung is.
Tang shrugged "Never thought I'd see the day."
I nodded and opened my laptop todo some research on all that profiling stuff he talked about.
While I was on it I searched up Mr.Jung's name. I know it's creepy but I just was too curious.
After almost giving up, since finding someone not famous was virtually impossible for someone who isn't good at computer tech, I finally found him.
It was an article from only six years ago about Mr.Jung winning some sort of dance competition, going to nationals, then loosing the title.
"What the heck." I mumbled as I pulled up the tab.
I studied the black and white photo of Mr.Jung, or Jhope as referred by in the article. He didn't look much younger, but he did look happier. He had a sparkle in his eye that is almost nonexistent from what I've seen of him.
I read the article on how he was the best in his school and won every single dance competition. There was no information on any family or friends. The writing shifted tones and started talking about how he was surprisingly defeated by another young dancer named Park Jimin at Nationals.
June 26 2013, Jung Hoseok, otherwise known as Jhope, lost the title to the young, talented, and popular Korean dancer Park Jimin! What a devastating loss for Jung Hoseok as this was his last chance to claim a spot on the World's Greatest Dance Team. The loss was unexpected and a complete surprise. It seemed like Jhope wanted to throw the match! We only wonder what Jhope must've been thinking while going against someone of less skills and loosing horribly.
"Dang." I breathed
"Whatcha looking at?" Tang inquired
"Mr.Jung was a completely different person six years ago. It's kinda sad his dreams were crushed. I wonder what drew him to become a Psychology professor." I kept digging. I was simply curious I understand it isn't any of my business but I got sort of excited having extra intel on the most popular professor at University.
I clicked on two more links. Seems as if he had a social media but it was all deleted. Another link gave me the bare minimum. It was from his high school and he was a notable alumni. It said he was a 'prodigy' and he was at the top one percentile of his class allowing him to graduate years early.
After highschool nothing. It's like he was completely wiped from the face of the public.
I finally closed my laptop and I leaned against the cool wall.
"This stuff is giving me a headache."
"Find anything?" Tang wasn't actually asking to listen just to entertain me. I knew because she was preoccupied with 90 Day Fiancé on TLC.
I shrugged "I'm gonna go get a drink."
I didn't want to leave the dorm in my pajamas that consisted of very short shorts and a tank top but this would be quick.
I dashed to the fountain to fill up my cup but it was too late, Ryan was talking with a friend across the hall.
I didn't know if I should slip away quietly or say hi but I figured either would be awkward in this state.
"Hey babe, what are you up to?" I heard his voice from across the hall as he and his friend were making their way towards me.
I recognized his friend from class.
"Just getting some water." I turned to his friend "Taehyung right?"
Taehyung nodded his head happily. "You're the class president huh."
"You know already? I haven't even made the website."
Taehyung shrugged "Some girls eavesdropped on your conversation with Mr.Jung and word got around."
I nodded. It made sense, girls will be jealous. Now that I'm the class president I should be spending plenty of time going over new ideas with Mr. Jung. It will be fantastic to know that they're eavesdropping and getting all mad but won't be able to do a thing about it!
"Crazy trick he did on me earlier." Taehyung mumbles "I didn't want to be in his class but I sure do now. That's some black magic. He knew all of that about me and I'd never seen the guy! I wonder what else he knows." Taehyung babbled.
I wasn't close enough to Taehyung, who was practically a stranger, to tell him the stuff I found out about Mr.Jung but I could tell Ryan.
"He knows what he knows I guess. Well I'm just going to get back, my friend's probably waiting on me." I smiled at the both of them and turned around.
"Me too," Ryan said from behind me. "See ya Taehyung, I'm going to walk Esme back to her dorm."
I turned around surprised he said that "Boys aren't allowed in the females dormitory hall after nine. It's nine eleven."
Ryan shrugged "No one will catch us, besides sneaking around's kinda sexy don't you think?" He smirked while pulling me close next to him so his arm was resting around my shoulders.
"What happened to the Ryan who always said 'I guess?' You seem to be so confident now." I smiled up at him.
He chuckled and matched his pace with mine "You told me to be sure, and I'm going to be confident around you....besides, who'd want to be submissive like Taehyung?"
We both giggled at his rather rude joke.
"Hey, I was doing some digging online and you'd never believe what I found out about Mr.Jung."
Ryan's eyebrows shot up as if peaked his interest but then de suddenly stopped walking.
"What's wrong?" I asked now stopping as well.
"Nothing, thought I saw a teacher. Now tell me all about the dirt you found on him." He started up walking again but abruptly stopped once more when we both heard "That you did." From behind us.
I knew before turning around it was Mr.Jung who'd caught us sneaking into the girls dormitory hall. He probably thought I was trying to sleep with Ryan! This is absolutely terrible.
I turned around already cringing to meet Mr.Jung's cold glare.
He wasn't wearing his teaching uniform anymore, just a dark grey sweater and black pants...not that it mattered.
"Esme I don't think you can be suitable for class president if you plan to sneak around with your friend." He didn't sound mad or disappointed, just sure of himself. I was a little disappointed I couldn't detect any concern in his tone.
"She's my girlfriend." Ryan spoke up noticing Mr.Jung had referred to him as a friend.
Mr.Jung's eyes didn't move from mine "Are you sure about that?"
I looked away from him realizing he could practically read my mind. Sure he was just studying our body language but body language reveals what you're thinking.
I saw Ryan as someone more than a friend, right?
"Please forgive me it won't happen again." I still wasn't looking at him although I was sincere.
"Have you no respect? Look an adult in their eyes when you're talking to them."
I swallowed hard. I had no idea why he was being so strict.
"Hey she apologized so stop harassing her." Ryan complained.
Mr.Jung ignored him again. "Don't let it happen again Esme." He warned me as he walked past us. "And we'll talk about your status as president after class tomorrow."
