Ruby's POV

"Bitch, I think I like his ugly ass"

I screamed into my phone. Yolanda wasn't here yet so I had to call her. Mr. Cruz disappeared a minute after we walked into the venue.

I can't believe my big dumb ass is out here having feelings for this clown. I thought my heart was made of steel but apparently, it's made of cotton candy.

"You like Noah? Oh"

"No bitch not oh. I'm going crazy"

"Ruby, I'm sorry to say this but Mr. Cruz and I are ......"

Before she could finish her sentence the phone cut off. I forgot to charge my phone before I came here and I've been on it ever since I've been here. If I feel out of place then I will just use my phone until it's time to go home.

I put my phone back in my clutch then awkwardly walked back to the party.  I put a fake smile on my face as I greeted the guest. I'm so used to fake smiling by now, I don't like half the people at that office.

It's now that I'm starting to see how everything turned out. The chandeliers dangled from the ceiling giving the look a classy feel to it. The light shined onto the white umbrellas hanging from the ceiling illuminating the room even more.

Every table had candles on them that had diamonds hanging off the holder. The room overall looked very earthly and heaven-like.

If I don't get a promotion for putting this banquet together I'm quitting.

Thought the whole night all I did was eat and drink. Noah never came back and Yolanda never showed up. I was left sitting at that table all by myself.

The night came to an end and Noah still didn't show up. The crew was already cleaning up the venue. I had to sit on one of the chairs and wait for Noah to come get me.

This is exactly why I need my own car. I'm tired of depending on people for things that I could easily do. I was waiting for more than half an hour before Noah decided to show up.

"Why didn't you call me? What time did this thing finish anyway?"

"I thought you were somewhere around here. And also, you hosted the event, how do you not know when it ended?"

He walked behind me in silence as I walked to the car. I kept some distance between him and I as we sat down in the car. I felt him move over every time I would move away from him.

Half of my body hung off the chair at this point. I was going to just sit on the floor when he lifted me up and placed me on his lap.

I quickly shut my legs as his hands ran up and down my thighs. His eyes roamed every inch of my body with urgency like I was just going to disappear. The heat that was going off in my underwear wasn't helping the situation either.

"Umm... Noah?"

I asked as his hands started to go higher from my thighs. He seemed to snap out of it for a while before he made me straddle his lap.

"I don't think I can stay away from you much longer. No matter how much I tried forgetting about you or distancing myself from you I keep wanting to kiss you"

He said above a whisper. I leaned in closer to him and smashed my lips on his. He didn't react immediately since he was in complete shock. Once it registered in his head that I was kissing him he kissed me back with hunger and passion.

I felt him squeeze my butt as he plunged his tongue in my mouth. Noah's grunts filled the car along with my moaning. His hard member was pulsing as I grinned my hips on him.

When the car came to a stop Noah pulled me closer to him and hugged me. I tried to get off of him but he pulled me back to him with a lot of force. My hand accidentally squeezed his dick as I was trying to balance myself.

"I really really like you"

Noah said as he stroked my wig. His hands ran down my back as I just sat down on his lap. I just sat there staring at him. The moment his eyes caught mine in started looking around the car.

When I like someone I can't look at them in the eyes for shit. The ceiling and the ground become so interesting at the moment.

"Are you sure about that? You do know that I'm Ruby right?"

I knew I shouldn't have worn so much makeup today. Not only that but the wig was a little too sexy for those people to recognize me.

"Yes I know it's you, Ruby. I want you to be my baby. Will, you be my baby?"'

"No"

I grabbed my purse and got off of his lap.  I opened the door and speed walked to my apartment. Yeah, I  like him but, I don't expect his playboy ways to just disappear in one day. 

I just got out of a relationship with a cheating ass nigga. Why would I hurt myself again? I'm not going to blame a clown for acting like a clown. But, I'm not about to join the circus again.

Someone can love you desperately with their feelings and still not know how to love you with their actions.

As I laid in bed all I could think about was Noah. Even as showered and washed my face I was thinking about him. I feel bad about rejecting him but, I had to protect myself.

I had to learn to be selfish with my time and energy. Being too available has put me in the situation that I'm currently in now. I refuse to date my boss.

Deciding that my sleep was much better than stressing out about Noah I went to sleep peacefully.

I put on my last earring then stepped back from the mirror. I was wearing a short sleeve top with the matching beige pants. I added that with a pair of red stilettos.

Instead of making weird between Noah and I in the car I asked him to not pick me up. Instead, I asked Yolanda to come by and bring me to work.

I thought that would save me from the awkwardness but, I was wrong. Yolanda was acting really weird. She hasn't said a word to me besides good morning.

"Yolanda, what were you going to tell me last night about Noah? My phone died"

"I don't remember actually just forget about it. It was nothing"

I could tell she was lying. Her hands started to shake on the steering wheel and there were beads of sweat on her forehead. She must've felt my eyes on her since her eyes widened with anxiousness.

Something is definitely up with her and my detective ass is going to find out exactly what's up.
