Ruby's POV

Today is Aaron and I's eighth month anniversary. We've come a long way but, the journey has been worth it.

All the blood, sweat, and tears that went into this relationship has finally paid off. We're way stronger than I thought we would be.

Since today is our special day I decided to make it memorable. That's the longest I've ever spent with someone. Aaron has been with me longer than some of my foster parents.

Today is Friday but, Aaron wasn't at work. He said that he had a business trip to attend. Even though he's gone now he will be here later tonight, just in time for my surprise.

I stared at the clock that hung on my wall in anticipation. It's like time goes by slower when you want it to speed up. But, when I need the time to slow down that bitch speed up.

Like rent is due, lights due, health insurance due, Mountain Dew, baby shark do do do do do do. Everything due.

"Ms. Carter, please come to my office"

Please? He has manners? I thought all he did was eat ass and talk shit.

I took my pencil and notepad and made my way to his office. For the first time in forever, I didn't hear moaning coming from his office.

None of his little squirrels asked for nuts today.

The moment I walked in he started throwing orders at me. The banquet was slowly approaching and I was stressed. All I have for now is the type of flowers that are going on the tables.

Apparently, the whole venue can't be decorated with only wooden tables and fake flowers. These people boujee as hell.

"These files are for Mr. Aaron. Since you guys are dating and you see each other twenty-four seven you could give it to him"

He said the last few words with jealousy laced in his voice. I smiled widely at him as I took the papers from his hand. He's about to blow a fuse just because I'm happily in a relationship.

I took the last few instructions from him that I needed them I left. I placed Aaron's folder on my desk then went on to do my work.

Today I didn't even bother wearing professional clothing. I had on a white crop top, a nude skirt, some sandals, and a nude purse.

Yes, I'm wearing the same outfit. Money don't grow on trees and not enough people saw me when it wore it the first time.

Noah didn't comment on my clothes so I'm happy about that. All I've been doing today is run errands and get him food.

I swear Noah has a black hole in his stomach. There's no way someone could eat so much in one sitting.

As time passed all I could do was wait in anticipation. I wanted to leave here so bad. Aaron is most likely getting home now. I can't make him wait or he will fall asleep.

I know this because every time we Netflix and chill he always falls asleep with food in his mouth before we can even makeout. Sometimes I punch his chest then pretend like I was sleeping. He thinks that his apartment is haunted now.

When the time for me to go home came I threw all my work behind my desk and ran out.

I popped my head in and said goodnight to Noah then I left. All you saw was my little ass legs running for the bus that was at the stop.

It's time for me to go surprised my man.

"And done"

I said as I placed the last ballon on the ceiling. I decorated the bed with red rose petals that were shaped in a heart.

After I examined my room in awe I went downstairs. I picked up the chocolate covered strawberries and regular strawberries.

I went up the stairs two at a time. When I got to my room I placed the fruits on the table and took a step back. This is going to be a magical night.

The alarm I set on my phone went off causing me to snap out of it. I quickly put on my shoes and walked out of my room.

I speed walked to the door after grabbing my keys that laid on the table. After I made sure that the door was locked I turned off the lights to set the mood for when we come back.

The trip to his house only took me about a twenty-minute walk. When I got to his driveway all the lights were off and his car wasn't there.

I guess he's not home yet.

I happily walked up to his front door and lifted up the welcome mat. I opened the door and placed the key back in its place.

Voices coming from upstairs made me stop in my tracks. Aaron isn't here so I know that's not him. A crash coming from upstairs made me jump back in fear.

I grabbed the first thing that I could get my hands on. Unfortunately, it was a dildo. Don't question why it's in his house.

I slowly walked up the stairs, trying not to make any noise. My hands gripped on the dildo as I got closer and closer to the source of the sound. I stopped in front of the door and slowly opened it.

I froze as I saw what was happening. Aaron had his traveling assistant sprawled out on the bed with him on top of her. His lips were connected with hers as he thrust himself in her.

I watched in pain as he threw away everything we had. Everything that I planned for us tonight is useless now. Tears ran down my face before I decided to look away.

I closed the door and made my way downstairs. I put what was in my hand on the couch and left his house.

The walk to my apartment was long and painful. The tears coming from my eyes couldn't help from rolling down my cheeks. All of the time we spent together flashed before my eyes when I walked into my apartment.

I turned on the lights and got to cleaning up the surprise that I spent hours to put together. I blew out the candles and threw away the rose petals.

There's no such thing as happiness in my life.
