daffodils
Yumi's POV ~
Looking back I guess you could say I was a plain person. Nothing about me said cool, dramatic, fun, exciting, thrilling, or even looking alive.
That was until I met him.
"I'll be home in twenty minutes. Calm down please miss." My landlord snapped over the phone as I tried calming her down. I was one week late paying my rent but it was only because I was finally able to pay off my late father's loan. Finally and forever I was done with that pervert Jimin. Finally I could move on with college and trying to find some more friends. At the moment the only friend I have is Jungkook but he's overseas in Thailand for a business trip. So I'm all alone.
I'm actually really quite and really scared of the world. You see when I was seven years old I was actually kidnapped. It was the most scariest moment in my life. The one moment I never thought I would survive from, but I did. A woman original from overseas saw me being kidnapped and called the police. I was found two days later unharmed but scared. My kidnaper end up being a old man who's been running from the law for years.
But after that my mom became paranoid and locked me inside for years. I never went to school, had friends or really talked to people. After my mom passed away my father let me be free. I became wild and almost got my self killed when I started drinking and ran in front of a car.
After that my father took out loans to pay my hospital bills and died not that long after. Since then I've been taking care of his loans so maybe Jimin can leave me alone. I'm finally free of everything.
"You piece of shit! You can't even pick up a stupid package. That's it Jay, just go home for the night. We'll figure it out in the morning." I heard as I was coming across a alleyway. Two guys around my age looked up at me before going back to their business. Thank goodness!
"Actually, miss!" A deep voice shouted making me stop in my tracks. I turned around slowly for him to start shaking his phone. "May I use your phone for a quick second. My brother has to pick up a package before my uncle gets here or I'm dead. Can I use your phone to call and remind my brother?" He asked flashing me a gaint and adorable smile. I wanted to say no but something about that smile made me want to say yes also.
"Sure." I spoke handing him my phone. I pulled my black coat closer as he dialed on my phone. The other guy just stood in the corner staring at his ring on his finger. Once I heard the deep voice guy in front of me click off he handed me back my phone. That was quick!
"Thank you angel! You're a lifesaver!" He said before giving me that smile once again. I gave him a small smile back before I started to head on my way.
Angel? Something about that makes me like it.
~
The next day came and went like usual. Nothing different happen. I woke up took a shower and ate some breakfast before getting dressed. After getting myelf dressed in a grey t-shirt, a pair of jeans, and my white sneakers I was out the door and heading for my first job. So I guess in total I work three jobs. One of my jobs is at a fast food restaurant. The second job is at a flower shop. And my third job is only once a week which is checking up on this house that this lady owns. She only comes to South Korea onces a year and she pays me around fourty dollars a week to clean and check up on her house. Easy money there.
But today the only job I have is going to the flower shop. It's my main job and the only one I really like. The fast food restaurant I only work on weekends, I couldn't find myself working there all week. It's already hell working there just two days. Let alone a week. No thank you.
"You here Yumi?" My coworker Soyou spoke as she grabbed her things. I just walked inside and she's already trying to leave. Great.
"Yeah-"
"Good. I've got to go. I'll be back in a few hours." She completely cut me off making me a little angry.
The hell!
I closed my eyes taking in a deep breath as I heard her leave. Calm down Yumi. It's fine. You like working by yourself. Actually now that I think about it I can take my own breaks. "Have fun Soyou!" I shouted while smiling. I started walking into the back when I noticed a stack of papers.
"FUCK YOU SOYOU!" I shouted back before rubbing my hands through my hair. She knew what she was doing when she left me with a huge stack of papers. I have to put these flower reservation in the computer or our boss will fire us. Or more like me. She won't fire Soyou because Soyou is her granddaughter. This is my life. This is life.
Four hours later~
"He can't do that to her after all this!" I shouted at my phone as I watched the latest Korean drama. I found myself watching more than one epiodes as I waited for a customer.
Ding!
I slammed my phone down thinking my boss was here. But to my surprise it was a man. He looked around in his forties with shaggy black hair. He wore a black suit making me wonder why he was in a flower shop. Does he need directions?
"Can I help you with something mister?" I asked in a friendly voice as I walked from behind the contour.
"Uh. Yes-" He cut himself off as he looked down at my name tag. "Yumi. I need some flowers for a old friend of mine. Today something really bad happen to his girlfriend and maybe if I send some flowers it might cheer him up." He flashed me a huge smile and as I stared into his dark cold eyes. Something...something about him felt off.
"Okay. What kind of flowers do you want?" I asked trying to knock off the creepy feeling.
"Oh I don't know. What's your type Yumi? What would be something you would like? Maybe if a young woman as yourself picks them out it might make my friend feel better." He added before giving me another smile. Okay maybe if I just pick something out this man can quickly leave. He's creeping the hell out of me.
"How about some daffodils? They often mean new begins which can mean something happy is coming." I mumbled grabbing some yellow daffodils.
"Perfect." His voice was loud and cheerful reminding me of my father for a second. Maybe this man isn't as bad as I'm thinking. Maybe I'm blowing things out of proportion.
As I was placing the flowers in a vase he told me if he could write a message on a card. It took me a few seconds to find a pen and card but once I did he seemed a little to happy for me to write a message.
"Can it say something like this. Dear Taehyung. I'm sorry I kidnaped your girlfriend Yumi. Here's some flowers to give you because once you receive them I'll done beat her to a bloody point. Sincerely Daesik." I looked up slowly as he started laughing.
What the hell? There's no way he's talking about me, right? I mean there could be another Yumi. But then why and the hell is he telling me he's going to kidnap a girl named Yumi.
So is he talking about me or not?
