Chapter 5: Curious
Jin looked down as he entered the office. He really didn't want to meet people's eyes after making such a big mistake yesterday. He got to his cubical and slid into his seat with a sigh, starting up his computer.
"Good morning Jin-Hyung." Jimin greeted with a soft smile, leaning forward into his cube slightly.
Jin smiled back at him, feeling touched that his new coworker seemed concerned for him still. "Good morning Jimin."
"You doing alright?" Hobi asked, joining the conversation.
Jin nodded, feeling like it was less of a lie than saying it out loud. "I'm just gonna try to focus more today."
"We don't blame you Jin, and that guy yesterday totally blew things out of proportion." Tae joined from next to him.
"Yeah He was way out of line." Jimin agreed. "Just don't worry about it, everything will be fine."
"Seokjin." A cold voice suddenly caught off their conversation. They looked over to see Namjoon standing there with a flat expression that was hard to read, but certainly didn't seem happy. "Can I talk to you in my office for a moment?" He turned and took long strides away without another word.
"I may have spoken I little too soon there." Jimin's face crinkled in concern as they all slowly turned their heads to watch their boss leave.
"Don't worry about Namjoon." Hobi smiled at Jin.
"Thanks guys, but I'll be fine." Jin gave them all a reassuring smile. Still as he stood from his desk he could feel his hands shaking and his legs go stiff. Despite that he managed to move around his desk and went in the same direction of his C.E.O. When he got to the office Namjoon had left the door open slightly for him, but he stopped just outside of it. He let out a sigh before quietly entering.
Namjoon placed his bag down and start taking off his coat. "Go ahead and close the door I have something I need to discuss with you."
Jin did as he was told feeling his nerves grow a bit despite him telling himself to calm down in his head. He took two steps forward but then froze, feeling like he was unable to go any more. His panic suddenly grew, almost feeling like he was in a similar situation. He tried to remind himself that he wasn't, that what he was thinking of was far behind him, but it didn't work, he felt far too overwhelmed. His breathing picked up, but he tried his hardest to hide it. The large office almost seemed to blur around him, making him feel even more trapped in his head.
Namjoon looked over to him and seemed confused. "Jin?" He ducked down to look at his face and noticed the genuine amount of fear in his expression, changing his confusion to slight surprise. He moved to stand in front of him slightly. "Seokjin please calm down, you aren't in trouble." He gestured lightly to the small couch. "Please, sit for a moment."
The words of reassurance allowed Jin to actually take a proper breath and he managed to move over and sit where he was directed, it also helping. Still, he felt himself shaking.
Namjoon moved over to a table pouring a glass of water from a pitcher before handing it to the older. "Here."
Jin took it. "Thanks." He muttered before bringing it to his lips and taking a somewhat large sip. He became more aware of his current surroundings once again. "What is it you wanted?"
"Just calm down a bit before I tell you." He responded.
Jin caught his breath a bit before nodding.
"Are you alright?" Namjoon then asked after a moment, leaning back on the corner of his desk at a slight distance to him.
"I'm alright I just-" Jin cut himself off. "haven't gotten much sleep lately..."
"I see." Namjoon nodded but gave a look like he didn't really believe that was it. He didn't push further however, even if he was obviously curious. "Anyways why I called you in here is because of what happened yesterday. There's been a new development."
"There has?" Jin asked eagerly.
"Yes, I was able to have someone check back to the original files you sent me and they were correct." Namjoon replied.
"They were?" Jin thought a moment. "I knew I entered them correctly..."
His boss nodded before continuing. "That means someone changed them in the system after I'd already checked them, and we also learned the file sent to the company with the wrong information was sent from your computer."
"I didn't change or send anything." Jin deafened quickly.
"Obviously, why would you sabotage yourself with nothing else to gain?" Namjoon stated. "I didn't think for a moment it was you. However, that also means that whoever did change and send it was targeting you specifically, and using your computer was to make sure we couldn't trace it back to someone else's."
"Targeting me? Who would do that?" Jin asked feeling his heart begin the race at the thought.
"I'm not sure, you just got here and already making enemies? That is another thing I wanted to ask though; do you have any idea who it might be?" Namjoon looked to him expectedly.
Jin thought for a moment but then shook his head. "No. I haven't had any problems with anyone, and as far as I know I never knew anyone outside the office but Yoongi and he would never."
"Plus he's in a different department, so even if you two weren't friends it'd be hardly likely." Namjoon sighed. "Back to square one then. For now just try to remain calm. We'll figure out who it is and I'll have Hoseok keep an eye on your work when I'm not around, so don't stress yourself too much over it ok?"
"Yes sir." Jin replied finishing the water in the glass and standing. "Should I go back to work then?"
"Actually I have a task for you, but first..." he pulled his phone out of his pocket, unlocking it and swiping through a bit before holding it out to him. "Put your number in, in case something happens and I can't reach you at your desk."
"Is it really that serious?" Jin asked. "I mean they, whoever they are, just tried to hinder my work performance, not kill me."
"Just do it. It'll make things easier for me." Namjoon sighed slightly, but kept the slight smirk on his face. He pushed the phone towards him again. "Go on."
"Okay." Jin replied snatching it out of his hand, inputting his number. "Jeez I'm not a dog...Here."
Namjoon chuckled slightly at the response, but was really glad Jin seemed to be acting more normal again. He then clicked the call button causing Jin's phone vibrated in his suit pocket so he pulled it out. Seeming satisfied he hung up. "Add my contact too."
"Whatever, What is the task you need me to do?" Jin asked, doing as he was told.
Namjoon walked over to his bag getting something out before returning to him and holding out a paper and the familiar card. "This is my coffee order and a shop nearby, I didn't have time to get anything this morning."
Jin looked at him in almost disbelief. "Are you serious?"
Namjoon nodded. "Yes."
Jin sighed taking it and putting it in his suit pocket before turning around and heading toward the door.
"And Jin." Namjoon stopped him before he opened it. "Don't forget to get something for yourself this time too."
"Ok sir." Jin replied simply before leaving.

Later into the day Jin was sitting at his desk when his phone chimed in his pocket. He got it out to see a new message.
Namjoon: meet me at the elevators. There's a bit of progress.
Jin sighed saving his work and locking his computer before typing back.
Jin: be there in a second.
He then stood up, smiling at Hobi and telling him he'd be right back, before heading across the office toward the elevators. When he got to the hallway he could already see Namjoon standing in front of them.
"What is it, did you find who is sabotaging me?" He asked as he got closer to his boss.
"No, not yet but there's someone here I'd like you to meet. Please." He gestured for him to enter the elevator first.
The older complied stepping in and waiting as Namjoon hit the lobby bottom and they rode down together silently.
When they reached the lobby they both got out to be met with a man in a brown tartan suit smiling at them. "Namjoon, good to see you again, and this must be the new employee you told me about, Jin right?" He held out his hand to shake.
Jin looked at it for a moment but Namjoon shook it before he had the chance, causing the man to give a slightly strange look, but then seemingly ignore it seconds later.
"Seokjin this is Seungsik, he's a cyber investigator, and he's going to try and help find who changed the files." Namjoon explained.
"A cyber investigator? That's a thing?" Jin asked.
"It is." Seungsik chuckled lightly. "I am a normal detective too, but cyber investigation is my specialty."
Jin nodded. "I see."
"Let's go somewhere else to discuss shall we?" Namjoon suggested.
"Yes, let's" Seungsik agreed before Namjoon led them both through the lobby to a small empty meeting room.
"Have you found anything out yet?" Jin asked once they were all settled.
"Well, as you know, the tampered files were sent from your computer, but all employees gain access to their computers with a unique user ID and passcode right?" Seungsik asked.
"That's correct." Namjoon replied.
"So if we can figure out who other than Jin has his passcode we can narrow it down. " Seungsik pointed out.
"Well me, and the only other person in the main office who would have it would be his supervisor Hoseok." Namjoon explained.
"I can't imagine Hobi doing this." Jin furrowed his brow. "He's probably been the kindest to me the whole time I've been here."
"I don't think it's him either, not to mention he's been one of my longest and most trusted employees, plus my friend." Namjoon agreed.
"Then not likely him." Seungsik replied. "Is there anyone else who would have it? Did you leave it lying around somewhere Jin?"
"No I memorized it quickly and even before that I had the paper Hobi gave me on me in my pocket at all times."
"The only place it is, is in Seokjin's file in my office." Namjoon added.
"Has anyone had access to your office?" Seungsik questioned.
"Not that I know of, but if someone snuck in while I was away I likely wouldn't have noticed. They would've had a pretty small opportunity window though because it is locked at night, and during the day there's almost always one of my secretaries watching from the counter just outside."
"Almost always?" Seungsik asked.
"Yes, well their job isn't exactly to sit there and babysit, so if they had stepped away to take a phone call or go the restroom it's possible someone could have gone past them." Namjoon admitted.
"What about the security footage?" Jin asked.
Seungsik and Namjoon looked at each other before the detective spoke, "I checked before asking you to meet me. Someone hacked into the system and deleted the footage from that day."
"Hacked into the security system??" Jin asked in disbelief. "Just how serious is this person? And why are they threatening me of all people?"
"We aren't sure." Seungsik admitted. "But with all these new developments it's probably best you be on high alert. Stick around people you trust and check your computer for anything suspicious."
"I understand." Jin nodded. He suddenly felt a lot more uneasy about the situation. causing him to mess up at work was one thing, but stealing his file and hacking into the security system to do it? How intense was this person?

The workday had finished so after most people had already left Jin headed towards Namjoon's office as he was instructed to do at the end of the day to see if there were any developments while they were working. He knocked on the office doors and heard Namjoon speak.
"Come in."
Jin walked in seeing his boss and Hana in the middle of the room.
"Thank you Hana, that all seems correct. You're free to go, and get home safe now okay?" Namjoon told her, handing her back a few files.
"Yes sir." Hana replied before leaving, looking at Jin like she was confused as to why he was there as she left.
"Anything?" Jin then asked when they were alone.
"Unfortunately no." Namjoon sighed. "Would you mind helping me put these away?" He referred to the various files scattered across his desk.
"Sure sir." Jin replied, putting his suitcase down on the small sofa. "How do you want them arranged?"
"Most of them are already in alphabetic order, so just put them where they fit the pattern." Namjoon instructed.
With both of them working the work was put away in no time.
"Thank you Jin." Namjoon spoke up when they were finished and he was putting his coat on to leave.
"You're welco-" Jin stopped mid phrase.
"What is it?" Namjoon asked.
"You called me Jin, just Jin." the older pointed out.
Namjoon chuckled lightly moving to lean back on the corner of his desk near him. "Yeah, I did. We aren't exactly on work hours so I suppose it's alright isn't it? Hyung."
"That's still really weird coming from my boss." Jin replied getting his bag from the sofa.
"How do you usually get home Seokjin?" Namjoon asked.
"The subway if I can catch the last train, if not, I get a cab." He replied.
"I'll drive you from now on." The younger said it sounding more like a statement than an offer.
"No. you really don't have to-"
Namjoon cut him off. "Someone is targeting you right now and we don't know for what reason or how far they are willing to go. It's best if you don't put yourself in potentially dangerous situations, so please, let me take you home."
"Yes sir." Jin replied, even though he hated to admit it, he was right.
"Then let's go." Namjoon reached to casually put a hand on his shoulder causing Jin to retract away quickly. The younger stared at him for a moment.
"Sorry sir." Jin muttered, looking down to hide his face and gripping his bag in front of him.
"You don't have to apologize." Namjoon stated. After a short moment of silence he sighed slightly. "Seokjin... I apologize if I'm overstepping, but may I ask you a question?"
Jin looked up to him slowly feeling nerves continue to shoot through him. "Yes, go ahead sir."
Namjoon's tone suddenly took a more serious tone as he looked at his new employee. "Jin do you have Haphephobia?"
