Chapter 2: Obnoxious

Jin sighed at his desk placing a paper into the stack to his right. Since it was only his first day he was just entering data, so it wasn't too much of rigorous work, but it was painstakingly tedious nonetheless.

"Hey Jin," Hobi stated excitably walking up to his cubical. "Since you're new here anyone on the floor is invited to a welcoming dinner at a restaurant not far from here. Are you free tonight?"

"Um... yeah I'm free, but really you don't need to go through all the trouble just for me." He frowned in response.

"Nonsense." Hobi waved it off playfully. "We hardly ever get new employees here, so we do this every time. You have to come it's your dinner."

"Alright then," Jin agreed with a polite smile.

"I'm there!" Tae suddenly stood pointing at his two older coworkers.

Jin had only been there a few hours and was already getting used to his outbursts.

"Of course you are." Jimin joined the conversation casually. "You'll use any excuse to get a meal. Meanwhile, I'm not sure I can afford to go..." he sighed.

"Of course you can." Hobi shook his head but a smile remained on his face. "The company pays for everything."

"Then I'm definitely in too!" Jimin smiled.

"Great, I'll tell NamJoon it's all set in stone then." Hobi started to walk away.

"Wait-" Jin stopped him. "NamJoon is coming?"

Hoseok nodded in slight confusion. "Mhm, he's the C.E.O. So technically he planned it. Is that okay?"

"Um... yeah that's fine," Jin replied quickly. Of course it's fine. He's the C.E.O. Of the company after all. He has to go to these events for the company's image, so why wouldn't it be fine? Still Jin had a bad taste in his mouth.

Hobi just smiled at him before walking away to tell his supervisor.

-&-

Jin was now sitting around a table as a small group of his  new coworkers clanked their drinks together.

"Welcome SeokJin to our company!" Hobi shouted joyously.

"Welcome SeokJin!" They all mimicked before drinking from their assortment of glasses and bottles.

Jin found himself smiling, he wasn't much for parties, and still didn't know many of the people there, but he appreciated the time everyone took to make him feel validated in his new workplace. "Thank you everyone," he stated politely bowing his head.

"You don't drink alcohol SeokJin?" NamJoon, who just so happened to choose the seat directly next to him, asked eyeing the older male's glass of water.

Something about the way he said it rubbed Jin in the wrong way. It sounded highly judgmental He tried to brush it off and struggled a bit to keep his tone calm. "I will on occasion, but I try not to make a habit of it."

NamJoon simply nodded before looking across him and to the right at Hana who had engaged him in conversation.

"Hobi~hyung~!" Jimin scolded, catching Jin's attention. "That's mine! Keep your chopsticks on your own damn plate!"

"Awe, c'mon Jimin, I just want to try a little. I didn't get any of that." Hoseok whined slightly swiping another bite.

"Hey-! Fine, then you have to give me some of yours." Jimin quickly took some food off of the older's plate, shoving it into his mouth and chewing it with a smile.

"Not cool!" Hobi debated trying to protect his food.

"Didn't you start it?" Tae asked amusingly.

Jimin simply laughed while continuing to victoriously eat the bit of his coworkers food, causing Jin to laugh as well.

"Jin, it's nice to see you again, scooch over." Someone addressed sitting down next to him in his other side, with a plate of food.

"Yoongi, I'm glad you could make it!" Jin expressed excitedly.

"Like I'd pass up a free meal." He stated simply, taking a large bite of his food.

"Hey! You work on the sixth floor don't you?" Tae asked pointing at Yoongi from across the table.

"Uhuh." Yoongi nodded, still seeming more fixated on the food in front of him.

"Then Jin, how do you know him?" Hobi asked curiously, using his chopsticks to point between both of them.

"We went to the same high school, and college." Jin responded. "We actually roomed together."

"Really, small world." Namjoon suddenly joined their conversation. "Min Yoongi correct? From the purchasing department?"

"That's correct, sir." Yoongi replied after swallowing his food.

"'Sir' isn't necisarry outside the office." Namjoon told him.

"Fine with me..." Yoongi muttered causing Namjoon to chuckle slightly.

"The purchasing department?" Jimin asked a smile stretching across his face as he folded his hands on top of each other and rested his chin on them. "They have a new intern don't they? How is he?"

Yoongi still didn't look up form his food. "Well he damn well knows how to get on your nerves sometimes, but he's a good worker."

"Yoongi, everyone gets on your nerves." Jin smiled semi-teasingly.

"That's besides to point..." he responded.

"He must be young. Is he cute?" Jimin asked referring back to the intern.

"Jimin." Hobi and Tae both scolded.

"What? Just curious." He defended only to get debates from both other males.

Yoongi looked to Jin who was quietly picking at his food with a small smile. "Hyung, normally That plate would be gone by now, are you feeling sick?"

"Hm? Oh no, I'm just not very hungry right now. I'm fine." Jin replied simply, taking a proper bite of his meal.

Yoongi nodded going back to his own food, but Namjoon on the other hand still continued to watch his new employee throughout the meal.

After everyone was finished and the restaurant was paid properly Jin was standing outside on the side of the street, waiting to flag down a taxi. About everyone else had left, Yoongi being the first, saying he wanted to sleep longer that night. Everyone else soon drifted out after that. However, now it was somewhat late and the streets were quiet besides a few normal cars.

Just as he was about to give up and walk home a black car pulled up on the side of the road in front of him. The tinted window rolled down revealing Namjoon in the driver's seat. "Need a ride?"

Jin looked at him a moment before turning away and starting to walk down the sidewalk. "No, it's a nice night I think I'll walk."

"What are you talking about, It's cold. What district do you live in?" Namjoon asked taking his foot off the brake to slowly roll along with him.

Jin told him, but continued walking stubbornly.

"That's pretty far." His boss pointed out.

"I'll be fine." He responded. God just please, please just leave me alone.

"Jin get in the car. That's an order from your superior." Namjoon stated authoritatively.

Jin stopped in his tracks upon hearing the words, causing Namjoon to also hit the brakes before putting his care in park. The older didn't move, but just stood there looking forward, seeming lost in thought, and oddly, slightly frightened.

Namjoon watched him in confusion before sighing, his voice softening. "Jin, please get in the car."

Jin seemed to snap out of it and turned slowly to look back at him. He then slowly moved to step off the curb and walk around the vehicle to get into the passengers seat. He closed the door behind him before putting his bag on the ground and buckling his seatbelt. He then shifted uncomfortably, glancing at Namjoon before looking ahead out the windshield. His voice came out quiet, "My building is near the ice skating rink, do you know where that is?"

"I do." Namjoon nodded simply changing the gear and driving away from the sidewalk. Soon they were speeding down the city streets.

-&-

Namjoon pulled up in front of Jin's building and stopped. The entire car ride had been silent except for the older's few directions.

"Thank you for the ride." Jin bowed his head before unbuckling his seatbelt.

"Goodnight Jin." Namjoon stopped him before he got out of the car.

"Goodnight." Jin replied simply before getting out, closing the door, and walking around the car toward his building.

"Jin." The CEO called rolling his window down again.

Jin tried not to show how much he really didn't want to be there anymore and turned to look at him.

"Your bag." Namjoon stated holing it out to him.

"Oh, right thank you." He replied taking it from him.

"Geez no alcohol, hardly eating, spacing out, and being forgetful? Are you sure you aren't sick?" Namjoon asked.

Jin folded both his hands on the handle of his bag, looking to the side. "No, I'm fine."

"Good." Namjoon suddenly smirked. "I don't need useless employees." And with that he rolled up his window and drove off.

Jin scoffed a bit before turning around and stomping into his building. When he got to his room he took off his shoes and jacket before collapsing face first onto his bed, feeling it had indeed been a long day. He took his pillow and wrapped it around his face yelling his thoughts into it, "He's so obnoxious!"
