Chapter 48: Billionaire twins
Dominic's POV
He was quiet for a few seconds, then he hung up. Things were getting interesting. Whether they turned out good or bad was up to his boyfriend now.
I chuckled, lying back on the bed and lifting my phone above me. "Let's have a look-see at what's going on," I giggled, scrolling through social media.
It's ironic how we were twins, but we never blended from the start. I was the goofy one, always cheerful and jesting. Everyone thought it was funny—except for my brother.
Damian was quite the opposite. He was composed at all times and didn't talk much—except when Mark came to visit. I disliked his friend. Damian never smiled or laughed with me but would beam brightly and play to his heart's content whenever Mark was around.
I started pestering Damian frequently. That was the only way I could get my brother to look at me. He would glare or yell at me to stop—they weren't exactly pleasant, but they were my favorite memories of him.
It worked perfectly, even as adults. I'd keep it up as long as it meant he'd talk to me more often.
"Hmm?" I arched an eyebrow, my gaze falling on a post: Billionaire twins trending.
I didn’t pay all the news companies—just the popular ones—and the rest joined in for the engagement.
I tapped on the website to read more, my eyes skimming through the main gist: "Damian Giovanni secretly dating upcoming YouTube star chef, Bentley Kai."
I smirked, reading through the lines. The writer proved their point by comparing the background of one of Damian's pictures taken at home with the kitchen his boyfriend uses for his YouTube channel—attaching a video from Bentley's Recipes at the end.
The most solid proof was the fact that his account was one of only three Damian followed on Instagram.
"Busted," I laughed, scrolling to read more. My eyes narrowed to the second topic: "Dominic Giovanni seen with top model Mark Harmon at Maverick City's popular gay nightclub."
I stared wide-eyed at the attached video. I gulped, my finger hesitant to click on it. I withdrew my hand, my laughter becoming stiff as a dried stick. "It can't be that bad," I said, pressing play.
My stomach was tied in knots, my face mortified as I watched myself rocking against him with determination, romancing his skin with a burning passion.
"What the—I acted like this?" I muttered, a shiver running down my spine in disbelief. I shook my head and skipped to the comments:
User 1: OMG! Damian’s dating?
User 2: I subscribed to Bentley's Recipes; he's a cute guy. I think he's a good match for Damian.
User 3: What's Dominic doing in a gay club? I thought he was straight.
User 4: Guys, isn’t Damian dating Mark?
User 5: Another hot billionaire off the list.
User 6: After watching those videos, I ship Mark and Dominic—they’ve got chemistry. I'm sure they'd win Couple of the Year.
"What the hell is this?" I frowned, glancing through the fifty replies to that particular comment.
User 7: Not gonna happen. Mark’s a whore; changes men like underwear.
User 8: Shut up, don’t call him that.
User 7: Why? It’s the truth.
User 8: He might change; Dominic would change him.
User 7: Haha! Stop being delusional; this ain’t a fairytale.
Indeed, that person was being delusional. I had no use for that lecher anymore. He was an open book—easy to read and manipulate. Mark would trade half his years on earth for some dicks; he’s nothing but a dumb advocate of prostitution.
I moved from that lengthy banter to other comments.
User 9: Lol, not me Googling Bentley Kai right now.
User 10: Nooooo! Not Dominic. Please don’t come for me; I have nothing against who he chooses to date.
User 11: Mark hooking up with two brothers is just wild, lol. I love him.
User 12: I think I've heard the name Bentley somewhere.
I exited the page, smiling. Everything was going according to plan—I just needed Bentley to mess things up. As for the other matter, I’d paid the price for my actions with these rumors about Mark.
In the game of business, there are gains and losses. If the gains are higher, I go for them, ignoring the losses.
"Hmm, I wonder how long they’ll last."
I darted to the phone call notification—Dad was calling. I sighed deeply, predicting he’d called because of the news.
"Hey, Dad, what's up?" I greeted, faking a laugh.
"Son, I know you're an adult, but..." he paused. "Those videos of you and Mark... are they—are you gay?" he asked, worry lingering in his tone.
I burst into prolonged laughter; I didn’t stop until my stomach hurt and my eyes watered. "No, Dad. I'm not," I answered, wiping away a tear from the corner of my eye. "That was just a one-time thing; we made a deal. I just needed something from him," I explained.
"Really? What was it?" he asked, his curiosity piqued.
"Something important," I replied vaguely.
"Oh, okay," he said, pausing briefly before continuing, his tone more serious and firm. "You know you don’t need to keep things from me, right? If you like Mark—he’s wealthy and a family friend, so you have my full support."
"I know, thanks. But what I said about Mark is the truth. I was toying with him; now the game's over, and I don’t need him."
"Okay, if you say so," Dad chuckled. "I saw the news about Damian. I guess I'll just have to put up with Bentley since they’re official. His YouTube videos are becoming popular, so he might not be a problem after all."
"Right? He’s so lucky," I grinned.
"I’ll hang up now. As a retired billionaire, I have food matters to attend to," he said playfully.
I covered my mouth, giggling. "Okay, bye."
"Bye, son," he said before hanging up.
Author's note:
