Takes place 1 week after "Goodbye Oscar"

Ruby Rose age 18 stood in the Office of the former headmaster of Beacon Academy, Ozpin.

Flashback

Ozcar: It is done.. *closes eyes sadly*

I looked up at the body of Oscar Pine and touched the facial cheek gently.

Ozcar looked back at her with sad eyes. Ruby held back the tears the back she could.

Ruby: This warmth.... It's different.... He's gone...

Nora dropped to her knees and cried loudly. Jaune had ran out the room to who knows where.

Neo had used her semblance and disappeared. Whitley looked away in pain and anger. Penny clutched her hands together as tight as possible.

Yangs eyes had gone red but returned to lilac when Blake grasped her hand.

Weiss had come and grasped my shoulder. I turned to face her as I felt the tears escape my eyes. I hugged her tightly as I cried over Oscar.

Things were not the same without Oscar. We, we're not the same without Oscar.

We tried getting back to normal the next day.

Nora: *eats whole stack of pancakes in one go*

Ren: Nora, you need to slow down, you're gonna get sick..

Nora: Oh don't be silly Ren! I'll be fine!

Jaune: *chuckles slightly* C'mon Ren, you would think after all the time you two have spent together, you'd realize slowing down and Nora don't match

Ren couldn't help but crack a small smile.

Weiss: I for one think that Nora should eat in a more Civilized manner. *cuts a small piece of a pancake*

Whitley: Of course you would sister. We grew up that way. But may I also remind you that we ran away?

Weiss: While dear brother it is true we have adapted to this new lifestyle, it doesn't mean I don't appreciate the moral teaching of our previous one *eats piece*

Whitley rolled his eyes and went back to eating.

I couldn't help but giggle slightly at Weiss and Whitley's sibling relationship. I'm happy they're back together.

It continued like this for the next few minutes. Eating, cracking jokes and just being kids ( With Qrow and Maria here of course). But you would be surprised how quickly that mood can turn.

The door leading to the cafeteria opened. It was Ozpin. I was still adjusting to seeing Oscar like this, but it was very strange.

He had walked in an entirely different outfit! He wore glasses? And a greenish- Black suit! Ozpin had changed Oscar's style!

Ozcar: *sits down* Good morning everyone.

Everyone had remained silent. Ozcar had looked around the table.

Ozcar: Is something wrong?

Qrow: Oz... What are you wearing?

Ozcar: My clothes? Is there a problem?

Yang slamming her hands on the table.

Yang: Yeah! Actually there is!

Ozcar: Then please Ms. Xio-Long. Elaborate me on what the issue is.

Yang: You're not wearing Oscar's clothes!

Ozcar: Oscar's clothes? Why I am wearing Oscar's clothes?

Yang: No that's your style not his!

Ozcar: Ms. Xio-Long, might I remind you that there is no longer a me, or Oscar. I am Oscar, and Oscar is me.

Whitley: Oscar is Oscar...

Ozcar: *places hands on the bridge of his nose* Poor choice of words-

Qrow: No. We know what you mean. *stands up and walks to door* Doesn't mean we have to like it.

Before Qrow could leave, I activated my semblance to beat him to the door first.

Ruby: Where are you going? There's no bar here!

Qrow: Look kiddo, this past 24 hours have been... stressful. I need to think.

Ruby: Uncle Qrow, we need to stick together-

Qrow: Ruby. Don't worry, I'll be coming back. *smiles at her*

Ruby: *looks at Qrow and then hugs him* I can't lose anyone else...

Qrow: *hugging her back* I know kiddo.

When Ruby released him, Qrow left the cafeteria.

Nora: I just... I can't right now... *gets up and leaves*

With Nora leaving, Ren followed as usual.

Yang stormed off to who knows where.

Blake went to go read in the library.

Weiss and Whitley went to the courtyard to train.

Penny and Neo went on a scouting mission.

Jaune left without saying anything and Maria headed to her room.

It was just me and him now. Me and the boy who we had lost yesterday. I didn't know what to say.

Ozcar: If you are uncomfortable, you are free to leave, Ms.Rose

Taking his suggestion, I left.

I had followed Maria's choice and headed back to the dorm I previously shared with my team.

When I got there I saw Yang crying.

Ruby: Y-yang?

Yang looked up at me with slightly teary eyes

Yang tried playing it off with a smile.

Yang: H-hey rubes. *sniff* What's up?

I went to go sit next to her.

Ruby: Yang... what's wrong?...

Yang: Oh you know. Just one of those days....

I could tell Yang was lying, she couldn't even look me in the eye.

Ruby: It's Oscar... isn't it. Yang be honest with me. How bad has Oscar and what happened yesterday affected you?...

Yang looked at me with a pained face.

Yang: I keep failing Ruby....

Ruby: What?

Yang: You, Blake, Weiss, JNR... and now Oscar.

Ruby: You didn't fail us Yang, I-

Yang: Ruby... Stop. When I lost my arm, I left you alone. At the fall of Beacon, I let Blake get hurt. I couldn't save Pyrrha. I didn't try to contact Weiss. I wasn't there for Jaune, Nora or Ren. And when the attack on Haven happened, Weiss got hurt!

Ruby: Yang, it's no-

Yang: And then after the train crash, I basically SCREAMED at Oscar! Because of Ozpins lies! I alienated him, glared at him, and even let Jaune and Qrow hit him! He got shot by Ironwood because I told Robyn the truth too!

Ruby: You didn't-

Yang: And the worst part is!... I never apologized directly!.... I probably effected him the most! I should've protected him more! I should've hurried up! I-

I saw Yang begin to cry harder. I hugged her while burring my head into her shoulder.

Yang: I should've done better.... Pyrrha is gone, Raven is gone and now Oscar too....

I kept hugging Yang as she sobbed.

After Yang had calmed down, I decided it was best for her to rest. I left the room and headed to the courtyard.

There I saw Weiss teaching Whitley.

Weiss: Focus Whitley! Just a little more and you'll get it

Whitley concentrated as best be could to summon a lancer like Weiss. Mid Completion, he had stopped.

Weiss: Why'd you stop?!

Whitley: It's just... hard okay...

Weiss: You can do it if you just try!-

Whitley: Not today Weiss...

Whitley packed his gear and had walked away.

Weiss had sighed and sat by the fountain. I joined her.

Weiss: He's stressed about Oscar....

Ruby: It seems everyone is...

Weiss: I think he's trying to suppress his feeling of Agony. Oscar was his first friend.. and his best.

Ruby: The whole team is taking it hard. Penny hasn't said one word.... It's odd. And Neo is...

Ruby and Weiss in unison: Neo.. *giggles*

Weiss: Ruby. How are you doing? Outside from his team, you were the one who relied on Oscar the most?

I looked to my feet after Weiss's question. It's true, I relied on Oscar the most. I needed his support when making leader like decisions, I needed his advice on how to unite the teams. When I felt down, Oscar would always come to mind on who I should talk to. Me, Him and Jaune always spent late Saturday nights up together, laughing and telling stories about our teams.

Ruby: I'm... holding on.

I felt Weiss gently grasp my hand.

Weiss: It's okay to be sad over Oscar. Let out you're emotions more. Me, Yang and Blake are here for you. *smiles*

I smiled back at her.

Ruby: Thanks Weiss.

Weiss had decided that she needed to talk to Whitley. I knew it was time for me to train more. After some training, we all met back for dinner.

The dinner today was silent. Ozcar was nowhere to be found.

We had left him a plate. When I came down later that night, I noticed it was eaten with no scraps left.

It was beef-stew and Pumpkin pie.

It was Oscar's favourite.

The next day breakfast was... quiet to say the most.

Qrow had returned to eat dinner last night but had left again after eating a few bites. Yang didn't look up from her food. Weiss and Whitley didn't converse, Penny again didn't speak, Neo was Neo, Jaune looked sadly at his food, Blake was reading and Maria was sleeping in her room.

Jaune: Ren.... these pancakes... they have fruit in them.

Ren: Yeah. I got a tip on infusing fruit into them.

Yang: From who?

Ren looked away: From Oscar.

I didn't think it was possibly that the mood could lessen.

Nora: I'm not hungry... *pushes pancakes away*

I was shocked by this comment. Nora, not hungry? Let alone for pancakes?

Nora got up and left the room. Again.

This time Ren did not follow.

Everyone ate in silence. After 20 minutes of silence and chewing, everyone left to do the same thing as yesterday.

Except Ren, Ren had remained at the table with me.

Ruby: Ren... how's Nora holding up?

Ren looked at me with sad eyes.

Ren: Bad... She hasn't smiled since yesterday's breakfast.

Yesterday. I haven't even bothered looking for Ozpin.

Ren: Last night while we were asleep, she was clutching her pillow. She kept saying Oscar's name, over and over again.

Ruby: They had a really strong relationship...

Ren: We all loved Oscar. He contributed the best he could to the group. Even when we didn't see Oscar for Oscar.

It was true. Oscar gave the most to this group. Not once did he consider giving up.

Ren: I think. In due time, Nora will go back to normal. But this will take the longest.

"This isn't the first time she's been broken".

After my conversation with Ren, I had to isolate myself somehow. Naturally I went to the library.

I was surrounded by what looked like Miles of books

Blake: Ruby?

I turned my head to find my cat-eared teammate and friend.

Ruby: Oh.. hey Blake.

Blake: What are you doing here?

Ruby: Oh, I just came to find some way to occupy my time.

Blake: Oh. Okay.

Blake then went back to reading.

I sat there looking down at my scroll, hoping to see news of the world.

After a couple hours I had got up to go train.

Ruby: See you later Blake.

Blake: Mmm

Blake didn't even bother looking at me.

Before I exited, I took a closer look at what she reading. It was called

" The man with two souls"

Oscar's favourite book.

We had followed the same routine as the previous day, we ate dinner together and headed to bed. Everyone except Ozpin was there.

I had done the same thing as the previous night and left him dinner.

Tonight it was cream or broccoli soup with a chocolate chip muffin.

Ozpin's favourite meal. And no scraps were left.

The next few mornings had been the same. No one spoke. On Wednesday, Nora at else where while Maria remained upstairs with Qrow leaving again. The following morning, Jaune had disappeared, so had Yang. The morning after Whitley and Ren had joined the tradition. Then the Saturday of that Week it was just me and Blake and Neo.

On Sunday only I had stayed.

This was one of those times I needed Oscar the most.

I had cleaned my dishes and walked away from the academy. I had entered the town and entered an abandoned shop. This was the same shop I had first encountered Roman in. Of course I found none other than Neo.

She was just sitting on the cashier desk twirling her Umbrella.

Ruby: How have you been?

She just shrugged at my answer.

Ruby: Same here. Haven't had anyone to really talk to lately.

Neo rolled her eyes and pointed at her mouth.

Ruby: Right... Sorry.

Neo gave me a thumbs up and continued what she was doing.

Ruby: Neo. Why did you join Oscar even after we left Atlas.

Neo looked up at me questionably.

Neo had took my hand and lead me outside.

She had me sit on a bench as she went to grab something.

She grabbed, a bow tie, a gear, an ice cream label and a pine cone.

She had put on a play for me.

It started off her the ice cream running away from the Pine cone.

It then showed the Pine cone and bow tie meeting and laughing.

I chuckled slightly at this scene.

She then made the gear soar over pine cone and Bow tie and had landed in between.

She then moved the ice cream cone move in closer.

Next she picked up a lighter. The ice cream label and the lighter appeared to have fought. The lighter scurried away.

She then brought the 4 objects together. Then, the bowtie and gear had left, leaving the pine cone and Ice cream label.

Neo took off Romans hat and placed it in front of them. It was in between the pine cone and ice cream label.

The pine cone had moved closer to the label as the label moved back.

The pine cone didn't stop however. Gradually, Romans hat had moved as well. Both had moved close to the ice cream label who had stopped moving.

Eventually the three objects we're together. Neo then brought up the pine cone and Romans hat up to her chest and hugged the pine cone, hat, Bowtie and gear together at her chest.

The play was over.

I never realized how much not just Neo, but all of team OWPN we're hurting.

I returned to the academy to find Penny. She looked up at me with pain in her eyes. I hugged her tightly. She hugged me back and cried onto my shoulder.

Tonight for dinner, everyone had showed up. All but Ozpin once more.

But something was different tonight.

Jaune: May I get everyones attention?

Everyone looked up at Jaune who had stood up. He placed his scroll in the center of the table and pressed a button.

A 3D hologram popped up. It was of Oscar over the 2 years they had known him.

Oscar was recording a video of him and RNJR training.

Oscar: You guys are doing great!

Nora: Come here and join us! You can't sit on your bum all day!

Oscar positioned the camera so it was of him and RNJR sparing. Nora had just shoved him a little to hard causing him to tumble over.

Oscar: *giggles slightly as it evolves into full blown laughter*

RNJR: *laughs with him as the video ended*

Jaune giggled slightly at the sight of the video. He continued to giggle until you could hear small chuckles from everyone.

It was heart warming to say the most.

But, under every laugh,

Was a sob.

Present Day

I turned around to see professor Ozpin walk in.

Ozcar: Ms. Rose! May I ask what pleasures you bring coming to my office.

Ruby: I wanted to ask you some questions.

Ozpin sighed as he had already guessed these questions would be about Oscar.

Ozpin took a seat in his chair and I stood in-front of him.

Ruby: Can he still hear us?

Ozcar: Figuratively... yes. Oscar can hear us.

Ruby: I-is he alright?

Ozcar: I am fine yes.

Ruby: Not you. Oscar! Is Oscar okay?! *Becomes more desperate*

Ozcar: Ms. Rose. I have already explained that I am Oscar, and Oscar is me.

Ruby: You... will never be Oscar... Oscar was himself! He had his own identity! Things that you could love about him! THINGS I LOVED ABOUT HIM! *drops onto knees*

Ozcar: Ms. Rose....

I looked up at him with Anger and tears.

Ruby: Give him back....

Ozcar: I can not

I grabbed him by the collar and stood back up as I cried harder.

Ruby: GIVE HIM BACK! GIVE ME BACK MY OSCAR!

Ozpin had looked at me with the same fear Oscar did when Jaune had assaulted him.

I continued to shake him violently.

As I felt the rage boil up inside me, I felt a chill down my spine.

This is exactly how Salem had reacted when Ozma died. It had pushed her to edge. It lead her and humanity to demise.

As I came to this revaluation, I had slowly hugged the body.

Ozpin being the kind soul he was, hugged me back.

Ozcar: I am so sorry, Ruby.

We had stayed like this for what felt like hours.

When I released I looked at him with eyes full of determination.

Ruby: We have to stop her.

Ozcar: Indeed. It is what WE want.

I let go of him.

Ozcar: Ms. Rose. Could you ever find it in you to move on.

Ruby: *sniff* I have. But there is a difference.

Ozcar: What is it.

I waled to the balcony of his office.

Ruby: I'm going to move on for Oscar.
