3. Rescue Training
Welcome back~
_____
You stood with your class, listening to the Pro Hero, Thirteen, greet you all. The USJ looked just like an amusement park!...or Universal Studios Japan...
"We should get started." Aizawa grunted as Thirteen began explaining their quirk and quirk regulations.
"Today, you're going to learn how to use your quirks to save people's lives." Thirteen said. You thought back to your mother and how she used her quirk...but this was no place for that, you concluded, pushing those nostalgic thoughts away.
You adjusted your new wrist-cuffs as they finished, wondering how you would be grouped up and such, before a sudden chill racked through you. Your body tensed in anticipation, E/C eyes snapping towards the center of the USJ where a dark portal had opened up, a hand coming out of it...
"Don't move! Stay where you are! Thirteen, protect the students!" Aizawa barked orders, as more villains come through the portal.
'Those are definitely not decoys' You thought, Aizawa confirming you're suspicion not even a second later.
'It looks like we're the ones in danger, now.'
3rd Person
Class 1-A gasped in shock. Real Villains?? Y/N softly grunted, looking at the various low-level villains pouring out of the portal. This was going to be no easy battle, even with two pro heroes present.
"All Might should be here as well." The shadow-like villain spoke first. 'So that's what they're here for'
"So you scumbags used the press as a cover and sneaked onto campus." Aizawa concluded, causing the Earth Manipulator's eyes to widen some. Hell, even she wouldn't have suspected anything.
Aizawa released his scarf pieces, the fabric encircling him as he did so.
Y/N found herself looking at Midoriya's stunned expression, and suddenly feeling uncertain about how'd he fare again. Judging by what she's gathered today, she knew that the boy was the nervous type.
The teen once again focused her gaze on the villains below, trying to gather as much information as she could, even if she wouldn't be fighting. It was either the shadow-like one or grey haired hand villain running the show, perhaps the latter as he seemed the most worked up about All Might, and the (who she assumed was,) brain dead creature standing with them was likely the strength. She pulled her eyes away from it's deformed face as quick as possible, not being the prettiest sight.
"What? Real villains? No way." Kirishima uttered, gaining the attention of the H/C female. "How could so many of them get into a facility so secure?"
"Yeah, why aren't the alarms going off?" Momo anxiously asked Thirteen. Y/N answered this one, "I wouldn't be surprised if one of the villains down there had some kind of quirk to do with disabling the alarms or other electronics." Her eyes narrowed at the horde of villains below, analyzing them, "If they planned for the reporters to distract us then they must've planned to keep us from escaping and alerting the outside world, as well."
Class 1-A's expressions varied from awe to surprise...to envy ("Just who does this smart-ass newbie think they are!?"). For many, it was the most they've heard her say all day.
"Good observation. That's a sure quality of a pro in the making." Thirteen praised the girl, who simply nodded in return.
"Is the entire campus under attack? Or is this their only target?" A certain dual-haired boy questioned aloud. Y/N, who was standing beside him, drew her gaze from the villains to him. "It's likely that we're their only targets, seeing as those two down there running this entire scheme seemed to be fascinated with All Might." She hummed, "...not to mention, if they've disabled the alarms they likely know that they're not strong enough to take on all of the Pro Teachers at once." She concluded again, once again earning the internal wowed reactions of her classmates.
'Smart..!'
Todoroki nodded, looking down at the wise female. A quick mind like that would be great to work with, he wondered if Y/N perhaps had a scholarly quirk as well as a telekinetic one. Did the new girl have two quirks as well? He grunted, "Right. They specifically chosen this isolated facility as an entry point at a time when a class was being taught. They're fools for trespassing here, but they've clearly thought this out...as Chikyū stated."
Said female mentally corrected him with a 'Y/N, actually'. She made a mental note to remember to correct him again later, as right now was not the time.
Aizawa ordered Kaminari to contact the school with his quirk, something else Y/N took note of: the loud one from earlier had an electricity quirk.
Midoriya, catching on to what Aizawa was plannin, began to protest, "What? You can't fight all of them on your own!"
The Pro Hero looked back at the green haired boy, goggles on. "You can't be a pro if you only know one trick." And with that, he was off into the horde of villains, and doing quite well despite Midoriya's worries.
Y/N watched the fight intently, mentally taking note of her teacher's every move. He was good, really good. She wondered if she could use some of those moves on her father...if only she could manipulate the earth to be as versatile as Aizawa'a scarf...
She watched for a moment longer before jogging towards the main doors with the rest of her class and Thirteen. Just as they were getting close, a similar portal to the one before opened up in the floor, as the shadow-villain, Kurogiri emerged from it. He began to introduce himself and the League of Villains, ending with saying the USJ would be a nice place for All Might to take his last breath. Yeah, like that was ever going to happen.
Y/N was at the front of the pack, between the explosive blond known as Bakugo, and Kirishima. She watched, indifferent but vigilant as the villain spoke, eyes narrowed.
Just as Thirteen was about to use their quirk, said redhead and blond jumped towards Kurogiri, quirks activated. Y/N covered her face with her arms as Bakugo's explosion went off, her brows furrowed in annoyance as the smoke cleared. What an annoying quirk...
"Did ya think we were just gonna stand around and let you tear this place to shreds?" Kirishima chuckled. The Earth Manipulator got into a fighting stance herself, stance wide and low to the ground, ready to summon earth is she needed to.
"You live up to your school's reputation, but you should be more careful children..." Kurogiri warned darkly, unscathed, as the smoke cleared fully. "Otherwise someone could get hurt."
Thirteen warned for Bakugo and Kirishima to get out of the way, but it was too late. Kurogiri enveloped Class 1-A in his smoke, causing the students to scatter all across the USJ...
.
Water. The cool sensation of landing in the deep blue was the first thing Y/N felt. She didn't open her eyes until she reached the top of the lake, taking a generous gasp for air as she did so. One hand brushed back H/C strands of hair from her forehead as she looked around for any familiar faces. 'The shipwreck zone, of course', she realized as two of her green haired classmates resurfaced as well.
"Y/N." Tsu greeted simply, tongue wrapped around Midoriya. Y/N, somehow not fazed by the odd scene, simply nodded and replied, "At least we're in this together." It was then, looking at her green clad classmate, who much resembled a frog, she remembered something she overheard in the classroom.
"Tsu...you said your quirk excelled in water, correct?"
Tsuyu nodded and ribbited. "Great, we can use that to our advantage, then."
With that settled, Tsu launched Midoriya onto the "sinking" ship.
"For a frog you got pretty big boobs, Tsu"
'Just who is that?' Y/N frowned in confusion, before coming face with a purple...munchkin? resting his head on Tsu's boobs. With how short said munchkin is, she hadn't noticed him yet...all day...
Tsu blushed and ribbited, before wrapping her tongue around Y/N and lowering her gently onto the boat as well, followed by Mineta, and then herself by scaling the sides.
"This is turning out to be a terrible day of class." The frog quirk girl sighed.
"Yeah," Midoriya agreed, "I keep thinking about what that villain said."
Y/N stepped closer to the two, joining into the conversation. "They knew our entire schedule and that we would be here, so they've must've gotten that information sometime in which the majority of the school was distracted...the breach."
The freckled boy suddenly blushed, looking at the other girl with a sense of amazement. "A-ah, yeah! Th-that's what I was gonna say." He shook his head, trying to regain composure. "Which means that they were planning this attack, just like Todoroki and Chik-you said."
"Hey wait a second! They can't really kill All Might!" The purple clothed elf...Mineta was it..?, shouted. Y/N looked down at him, arms crossed over her chest. "I doubt that...judging by their army, every villain around is a low-level criminal, aside from that one with the warping quirk and the other with the hands all over him." She sighed softly, eyes shut in thought. "But who knows what that creature with the brain exposed could do..."
Midoriya was caught off guard by the insightful addition, and paused for a second, before nodding. Mineta on the other hand...
'Y/N TALKED TO ME!! TAKE THAT KAMINARI'
"Then again, if the villains planned the attack, they probably found out a way to kill him." Tsu added. Y/N simply nodded, as it was possible, even for low level villains to cause a ruckus. Midoriya gasped quietly.
Tsu then continued with her explanation of the possibility that All Might could be defeated, and may not make it out in one piece, as a something stirred in the waters.
E/C eyes narrowed on the ripple of waves. "They're here." The girl concisely said to her peers as she unfolded her arms from her chest.
"I'll enjoy eating you!" One of the water villains taunted, causing Mineta to shriek even more. Y/N internally sighed, almost wishing that she could have an area to herself to fight in.
More villains circled the boat, causing the Earth Manipulator to clench her fists in apprehension.
She got ready to use her quirk, and attempted to make a barrier wall of earth between her friends and the villains, but stopped as she sensed a weak pull. "Wh-" Y/N started, before looking down. 'Of course!' She scowled at her own ignorance 'I'm on a boat, my quirk is near useless here'.
While it wasn't impossible to use her quirk through water, it was a hell of a lot more difficult to get a good sized piece of earth. Not only would she already be fighting against gravity, but then came the added water pressure and weak connection through water that made it difficult to for Y/N to use her quirk. The deeper the water (and farther she was from the earthy bottom), the more difficult is was for her.
Y/N sighed and lowered her fists, the pitiful blue light on her wrist cuffs powering down. She clenched her fists, frustrated at herself. She didn't want to be a liability to her team.
"What do you mean fight? Are you crazy!" Mineta screeched, tears streaming out of his eyes.
Y/N was was taken out of her self-criticizing to find that her peers had came to a conclusion without her.
"Think about, those villains down there clearly have an advantage in the water." Midoriya mused. Disappointment once again filled Y/N's mind. "And I'm assuming that's where we'll fight."
"Are you even listening!?" Mineta cried.
"Then they must've known what was inside the USJ, before we warped in." The Earth Manipulator added, more quiet than she usually was, this time. Midoriya nodded. "But with all this careful planning, something isn't right...they sent Asui here..." Midoriya choked, and went red at the cheeks as Tsu looked at him curiously. "Whoops - I meant, Tsu! Yeah! They warped her to the shipwreck zone!"
"But why does it matter that she's here!?"
Y/N softly grunted. "Which must means that they don't know anything of our quirks."
Tsu ribbited and agreed with her classmate. "You've got a point Y/N - we could use that to our advantage." The H/C girl nodded.
"So for all they know, the three of us could be super powerful." The green haired male said. "None of them are trying to climb into the boat, that proves they're a little unsure."
"But they won't underestimate us either." Y/N finished for him, fists clenched as she walked to the boat's railing and gazed down at the villains. A sudden feeling of relief came over her. She had a fleeting hope that she could use that to her advantage and not slow her team down in the process.
"-we can probably only use my jumping and my tongue here, forget about the other things."
Y/N then realized that admist her thoughts she was zoning out...again. Her teammates were discussing their quirks now. She stayed silent until her turn came.
"You have a telekinetic quirk? Right Y/N, seeing as your father is Mind Grip we could use that to our advantage to get out of here. Ribbit." Tsu questioned the other girl.
Y/N hesitated...before shaking her head.
"No, actually I have my mother's quirk..." She shut her eyes and sighed. "She was a Pro Hero as well, not as well known as my father of course but either way...I'm useless here."
Midoriya's eyes widened. He swear he learned the name Mind Grip's spouse not too long ago! 'Come on, what is it...!' He went on mumbling about all possibilities, a strange aura surrounding him as he did so...before being shut down by Tsuyu.
"Or at least," the E/C eyed girl looked her peers in the eyes, usual calamity now filled with a never before seen, fiery determination, "Until I get onto land. My quirk is weak when it comes to water, but on land..." Her gaze fell onto the area in which Aizawa was fighting.
Tsu, Midoriya and Mineta all shared the same feeling of awe from the girl's determination - as well as fear from Mineta.
Tsuyu nodded. "Well then we'll try to get you out of here as soon as possible.
Y/N looked her teammate in the eye, a ghost of a smile on her face. "Thank you, Tsu." Tsuyu blushed and ribbited.
One shipwreck battle later...
The four teens were flying out of the shipwreck zone, courtesy of Tsuyu. Y/N couldn't help but smirk excitedly, ready to use her power.
'I've already been dead weight for my teammates once...I won't do it again!'
She was as well shocked at Midoriya's powerful quirk. Who would've known that the timid kid actually had a quirk that strong?
Said boy then launched one last parting punch while in air, which caused a whirlpool to form where it hit, and the water-villains circling towards the center with it. Y/N's eyes widened at the sight. 'Woah...'
Now that was powerful.
The four wadded out of the water onto land, Y/N nearly sighing in relief. She wasn't much of a fan of water and all of it's...wetness, to begin with.
She then noticed Midoriya's broken fingers and internally winced. Guess with a quirk that powerful it was bound to have some major setbacks.
"It we follow the shore entirely, we should manage to get to the exit while avoiding any villains." The boy said. Both Tsu and Y/N nodded in agreement.
"But...if Mr. Aizawa doesn't get some backup, he'll only end up over exerting himself...he'll only get defeated by those villains trying to keep us safe..." He then added thoughtfully.
Y/N looked at the battle in the center as her peers continued talking. How long had Aizawa been fighting now? He surely couldn't go on for any much longer soon, and who knows if any pros were on their way yet? But if he had some a little help...a pensive expression appeared on her face as she thought of the best way to use her quirk while she and her peers peaked over a ledge and spectated the battle Aizawa was having.
Huh. He was actually fighting Shigaraki - the leader - now. And seemingly winning! The four - minus Y/N - grinned excitedly for their teacher, oblivious to the distraer about to strike. Shigaraki had found out how to predict when Aizawa was and was not using his quirk, and as a result, managed to catch him and begin turning his body to stone.
Y/N clenched her fists angrily as it happened, brows furrowed and jaw tight. She couldn't just sit here and watch!
Luckily, Aizawa managed get away from Shigaraki before he was totally at mercy at the others quirk, until the brain dead creature from before had gotten a bloody grip on him.
Y/N's eyes widened briefly, before her shock turned into fury as she saw her teacher's beaten body face down, the creature's - Nomu's - gigantic hand on his face.
'So this is the real evil pros face...'
She then looked around the USJ, remembering all that her classmates and done, and felt an overwhelming sense of shame again.
'I've been standing around doing nothing all day...' She softly sighed.
E/C eyes narrowed murderously at the creature holding her teacher down.
'I won't be a liability this time!'
With that, Y/N leapt out of the water and onto shore, hidden behind the foliage of a bush, eyes closed in concentration.
"Eh? Y/N what are you-"
Tsu didn't even get to finish her sentence before a spike of earth rocketed out of the ground and towards Nomu, throwing the creature off of Aizawa.
Shigaraki and Kurogiri - the latter who apparated to tell Shigaraki the news of one of the escaped students - fervently looked around the USJ for whoever could've done the attack, especially of such power and speed.
Y/N's three classmates gaped at her.
"I got it!" Midoriya suddenly gasped, causing Tsuyu and Mineta to look at him in pure confusion.
"Your mother, Y/N,"
Said girl opened her eyes, E/C filled with apprehension upon hearing mention of her mother.
"Was she Fuji? The pro hero that managed to save an entire stadium of civilians about ten years back?"
Y/N simply looked at Midoriya, her eyes conveying a strong emotion that he'd never seen before from her: mourning. It made the previously strong girl look vulnerable in the given situation. "Yes, Midoriya. My mother was Fuji...and she was the strongest woman I've ever met."
With that, her previous wistful expression returned to pure determination as she leapt out from her hidden post, in the blink of an eye, as Shigaraki did the same. Her classmates gasped. The Earth Manipulator met the other's wide eye, before a wall of earth shot up from the ground, between them. Shigaraki swore and fell back as Y/N shot back towards the water from the force of the earth she used to protect her classmates. Her landing was strangely soft...cushioned...and warm?
"You okay?"
She looked up to meet the green eyes of Midoriya. Y/N nodded, and made an attempt to get up before she couldn't and relaxing again.
"Midoriya?"
"Yeah, Y/N?"
"Could you please let go of my waist?"
Midoriya looked down to find that his arms were, indeed, still wrapped tightly around the girl's midriff from when he broke her fall. The green haired boy immediately turned red and stiff, arms shooting to his sides.
"S-sorry Y/N!"
The impassive girl didn't have time to respond before Shigaraki jumped over the wall, it crumbling as he did so and Y/N lost concentration. She frowned at her own rookie mistake, now frozen as the grey-haired villain lunged towards her.
Shigaraki outstretched a hand towards Y/N, quirk activated. The girl hadn't had enough time to react, and landing on her bottom, was unable to flee. She shielded herself with an arm, awaiting the agonizing pain of her own skin peeling off of her, jaw clenched as her body stiffened.
The pain never came.
E/C eyes hesitantly opened to find a gloved hand in front of her face, not even an inch in front of her. Y/N quietly gasped, and then scrambled to stand. Her gaze traveled backwards to find Aizawa, barely standing, but restraining Shigaraki from moving.
"You really are so cool." The villain rasped. "...Eraser Head."
Midoriya then shot up, fist cocked back as he leapt towards Shigaraki. 'I gotta save Y/N and get her out of here!'
" You let her go now! Smaaaash!"
Y/N shielded herself with her arms as a gust of wind from Midoriya's punch nearly sent her flying back. 'That power...'
Unfortunately, Nomu had blocked Shigaraki from the punch, unaffected by it. Midoriya looked up, stunned, at the creature that towered over him.
Nomu then raised his hand to get a deathly grip on Midoriya. Y/N got up, ready to use her quirk to stop the fist as Tsuyu extracted her tongue to get the boy out of Nomu's grip. Shigaraki reaches towards Tsuyu and Y/N as it all happened, and then...
BOOM!!
Everyone looked towards the entrance of the USJ, where the sound had came from.
"Have no fear students...I am here!"
Tsu paused, tongue wrapped around Midoriya. Y/N stopped her summoning earth, shoulders dropping and green on her cuffs powering down to a dormant grey, as relief overcame her.
"He's here...All Might." Midoriya murmured in astonishment.
All Might stood at the grand doors of the USJ, his usual smile a foreboding grin. He was still dressed in a white button up and yellow suit.
Shigaraki smirked.
"Look's like our game is getting a continue..."
