Lillian's P.O.V
AT CAFÉ
"Good morning, Paula!" I chirped as I tied the black apron around my waste.
"Good morning, Lil! Did you have a good afternoon yesterday?"
"Yes, I did thank you!" I pushed through the short swinging barrier that led behind the counter.
Charlotte stood there with a smirk on her face and her arms crossed in front in her.
"Yes Lillian, did you enjoy your afternoon yesterday?" She grinned with expectancy and I took a deep breath.
"I'm moving in!" Cheering, I opened my arms to the girl.
"That is so awesome! I'm happy for you, Lil!" She cheered back and ran the short distance to me for a hug.
"Okay so tell me everything that happened." She turned around to wash the small pile of dishes that piled up beside the sink.
"Well we walked to his place; it's on the fifth floor and has an amazing view over the beach. It's not right on the beach but it's pretty close! You'll love it Charlotte, I can't wait to show you!"
"It sounds heavenly! What happened next?" I could hear playfulness in her voice and it was then I realised that she already knew I spent the night with Niall.
When I had gotten back so late to Manny's, he naturally asked questions. I didn't tell him about Daya but I told him about the beach. My guess is that he called Charlotte up this morning and filled her in.
"Oh my god, Manny told you?"
"Yes girl! And lucky he did, it's not like you would have!"
"I would have but I mean it's nothing!" I shrugged and began cleaning the coffee machine. The boy that does the early morning shift never cleans it.
"Oh yeah nothing, a romantic walk on the beach with a cute guy at sunset. You're right, absolutely nothing." She spat sarcastically.
Well when you put it like that.
"Oh hush." I whipped her lightly with the wet cloth from my apron pocket, "but we do have a bit of a problem."
I bit my lip at the thought of telling her. I know she would never judge but would she disapprove?
"Shoot."
"Well last night Niall offered me a deal. He said that if I could find him a really good job then he would pay for my rent. I immediately declined but..." I paused, "he had some persuading points and I agreed. The place is so perfect for me, Charlotte and I didn't want to lose it!"
"So, what's the problem them?" She flung the tea towel over her shoulder and looked at me.
"I haven't told my dad. I haven't even told him I'm moving from Manny's let alone allowing someone to pay the rent for me!"
"Yikes! Girl, good luck with that." Charlotte turned around quickly and pretended to dry the already dry dishes.
"Nooo, Charlotte you have to help me, please?"
She sighed and I grinned. That was her agreeing sigh!
"Okay, what if you take him around there to see the place and, you really have to sell it, maybe even meet Niall. Don't even mention anything about money until after he's fallen in love with it."
My grin went from ear to ear. That was great!
"That should work! Thank you!"
"Yeah well, I've gotten out of my fair share of predicaments." She joked and went to the counter as the bell to the door sounded, indicating someone had entered.
"Well, isn't that a sight. Lillian Finn working? Never would have guessed." I could hear the venom dripping from each word she spoke and I knew it was her before I even saw her.
"What do you want, Daya." Charlotte snapped.
Had the zoo accidentally left the snake exhibit open? Or did one just escape?
"Oh, I just came here to fill your friend in on some information I found on her friend, Niall." Charlotte turned to me confused.
I huffed and walked over to the counter.
"What?"
"Well, I have been doing a little research on your boyfriend, Niall Horan, and my sources tell me he is not a good guy." She leant forward, resting her elbows on the counter.
"What do your sources tell you then?" I raised a brow; she is so full of shit.
"Where's the fun in telling you, right away? How about you do some digging yourself and get back to me." She blew me a kiss and strutted her way out the door; her hips swaying like a damn tree in the wind.
Once she was gone, Charlotte stared at me baffled.
"Okay two things. One: how did she become an even BIGGER b*tch? And two: how does she know Niall?"
I groaned and grabbed the clean dishes from the drying rack. I started packing them into their correct spots in the cupboard to distract myself from the question.
"Lillian."
"Niall and I went to the club last night to celebrate and we ran into Daya. That's it."
"It's Daya! That's never it, keep going."
"We may have gotten into a bit of a fight."
"Verbal?"
"Physical."
"Hellssss yeah. Did you win?"
"Niall kinda pulled me outta there before I could." I smirked cheekily at her which Charlotte returned with a grin.
But my happy attitude disappeared when I remembered what Daya had said. Was Niall really a bad guy? Or was she just being her usual self?
