Ten

"Hey, brat, get in."

Kazue rolled his eyes at the typical greeting, standing at the curb beside the black car that had screeched to a stop in front of the school, the tinted passenger window sliding down to reveal the Kimura family's driver.

Fueki Shun, former leader of an underground fighting ring and a woman that owed his father roughly fifty-seven separate favors, one of which was paying him back for keeping her out of prison.

Ignoring the stares of the other students leaving and a few whispering about him being a 'rich kid' and something about Dreynen, Kazue pulled open the back door and slid into the car while stifling a yawn. He'd had another sleeping episode in his last class of the day, but thankfully, it was one of the shorter ones and had only lasted twenty-two seconds.

"So, how was your day?" Fueki asked sarcastically, both of them knowing that the ravenette didn't care in the slightest.

"Wonderful," Kazue deadpanned as she pulled away from the curb, recalling all the events of the day. For the most part and besides homeroom and who his teachers were, it was just a normal high school. Nothing special, really, meaning that he could sleep or read in all of the regular subjects since he'd already either learned it or could memorize it by absentmindedly hearing it once. "My homeroom teacher is going to be a pain in the ass."

"Want me to kill him?" the woman queried, completely serious while pulling a knife out of her sleeve.

"It's not going to get rid of a favor," the teen replied with a small snort, staring out the window. It never got old; her offering to kill anyone he so much as mentioned had irked him.

"Never mind," Fueki shrugged, putting the weapon away and doing a sharp right around a street corner.

"Stop for a second," Kazue suddenly ordered, the woman not even hesitating to slam her foot on the brake. He rolled down the window opposite him to meet the eyes of a certain boy walking home from school. "Hey, Midoriya-san," he greeted flatly. "Get in. There's something I want to ask you in private."

The green-haired teen stared with wide eyes back at him, clutching the straps of his backpack tightly. "Erm... What?" he stammered, taking a hesitant step back.

The brunet sighed. "You know I know, because I know that you were eavesdropping on my conversation with Zero Gravity," he summarized briefly, hearing a snort from Fueki before she closed the partition between the front seats and the back. "Do you want me to help you or not?"

Midoriya gingerly gripped the handle of the car like he was afraid of breaking it, pulling the door open and carefully sitting down beside Kazue before closing it. The car drove away from the curb, the shorter boy visibly fidgeting in his seat. "I... What's your name?"

Oh, right... Kazue hadn't introduced himself before telling the other guy to get in the car, rather rudely to bat. "Kimura Kazue," he said, holding out a hand that was shaken after a second of hesitation.

"Mi-Midoriya Izuku, but, uh, you already knew that, right? Are you... kidnapping me, Kimura-kun?"

Kazue squinted his eyes at the absurd question, glancing at Midoriya out of the corner of his gaze. "No, I'm not kidnapping you. You made the choice to get in, and you can leave anytime you want."

Midoriya looked away and out the window like he was considering asking to stop the car, before suddenly blurting out, "All Might told me about you!"

The brunet quirked an eyebrow at the exclamation. "He did, did he?" Kazue mused, turning his head to fully face Midoriya. "Makes sense, considering I know what he really looks like, and that I'd know he passed on One For All to you if we ever met."

"Can... can you really help me control this power?" Midoriya asked after a second of silence, staring down at his hand, specifically the wrapped finger he'd shattered earlier that day. "Why?"

Kazue shrugged, pulling out his wallet and flipping it open. "Yes to the first, although it'll take a while and I'll have to get into contact with All Might to compare notes. As for why... why I'm helping you? At your current state, you'd be a hazard to society. Something I actively try to prevent hero students from becoming."

Midoriya visibly flinched at the assessment of his Quirk before finally noticing the item being held out to him. "A... business card?"

"Never thought I'd give one to someone who wasn't one of Aerogale's interns," Kazue noted, gesturing for the other teen to take it. His father had them printed for him a few years back for whatever reason, but they'd served useful thus far. He'd been able to stay in contact with the hero students he'd trained from years prior, some of whom had already gone pro.

Damn, it almost made him feel...old.

The partition slid down, Fueki peering back at the two boys. Midoriya looked like he was about to scream at her appearance and Kazue had to remind himself that having a driver that looked like she wanted to stab you twenty-eight times wasn't normal. "This is your place, right?" she asked bluntly, jabbing a thumb outside the car.

Midoriya slowly turned his head and almost jumped out of his skin as soon as he saw the apartment complex they were outside of. "Y-yeah?!" he squeaked, eyes darting between Fueki and the building, hand inching closer to the car door handle.

"Fueki-san, we've talked about this," Kazue said with amusement lacing his tone, muttering an apology to a terrified Midoriya. "No cyberstalking people to find where they live. It's creepy." He offered a small smile, motioning towards the door. "See you tomorrow, Midoriya-san."

"Bye!" Midoriya practically screeched, slipping out the door at the speed of light and disappearing into the building.

"Ah, it's been a while since anyone's been that terrified by me," Fueki grinned, pulling away to drive back towards the agency. "Seriously, I didn't even pull out a single knife."

"Please don't," Kazue deadpanned.

~-~-~-~

"Aerogale, you're a pain in the ass," Kazue announced in a dead tone as he walked into the staff room later that night. The blue-haired man looked up from the Starbuck's coffee cup he was pouring an obscene amount of sugar into, occasionally twitching where he sat. Great. The fifth time this week where he got too caught up in looking cool flying around instead of walking, overusing his Quirk in the process. "Five reports I had to do today. Five, because you decided that they were too boring and a hassle to do on your own."

"Whoops?" the man offered, taking a sip of his Death by Sweetness, gagging, and adding in a packet of salt. "Hey, I knew you were just gonna go over 'em and redo 'em anyway, so... I saved you the hassle of being my personal spellcheck. You should be thanking me, really."

"In what world does that make sense?" Kazue sweatdropped, watching as the hero pulled out a small bottle of vodka from Kami knows where, added a shot to his coffee, and finally gulped the entire cup down. After seeing that sight for the past five years, the brunet still couldn't get over the man's questionable choices in beverages. "Besides, your reports are free entertainment with how bad they are," he added, recalling one of the more recent villain fights Aerogale had gotten into. "'Then I busted in like a boss, kicked the lizard turkey's butt, and yeah'," the teen quoted, snickering as he went over to the sink and filled the electric kettle sitting next to it with water.

"At least I have a social life," Aerogale replied smugly, pulling out a packet of gummy worms from his aviator jacket's pocket.

The foil crinkled as he ripped it open, eyebrows wiggling as Kazue just snorted. "Don't need one," he replied, pulling out a mug and everything he'd need to make hot chocolate while he waited for the water to finish boiling. "Don't want one," he added with a half-shrug as an afterthought. "It'd be a pain in the ass."

Ugh. Even saying that reminded him of the next day's schedule. Class 1-A had their first heroics lesson, and if the rumors flying around turned out to be true... well, Kazue would have a much easier time contacting All Might about Midoriya's training. If the green-haired boy accepted his offer, that is.

One thing was for sure, and it was that the additional class was going to be one of the most annoying things Kazue had ever done. He wasn't complaining about the high possibility of having to work with others, as his Quirk was well-suited for a support role, but interacting with others was going to be the problem.

Kazue had roughly three personalities. His business personality, his in public personality, and his private personality, the first often came off as rude and arrogant, the second was dull, and the third consisted of browsing the internet, reading, and tinkering with electronics. Not exactly anything suited for having a good relationship with people he'd be in the same class with for the next three years.

Well, he'd just have to wait and see what the first heroics class would consist of. Then he could really rate how much of a drag it would be, and exactly how much he'd have to try to score average.

Another short chapter, oops

I love making random ocs that may or may not play a role in the main storyline later. Like, I don't even know what to do with them, other than the fact that Kazue's obviously going to have a driver, so I thought, why not a slightly sadistic woman who used to run an underground fighting ring?

And thus, Fueki Shun was born.

Anyhow, I'mma make a list of all the ocs that will appear in this book with a short description (it may or may not be updated in the future):

- Kimura Kazue ~ The main character. (I can hear the 'no shit, Sherlock' from here). His Quirk, known as Amplify, allows him to boost anyone's Quirk through physical contact, as well as being able to 'read' anyone's Quirk so he can utilize their Quirk properly. He can also activate someone's Quirk through contact, and basically control as long as it's related to boosting or activating. More to be discovered later.

- Kimura Katashi ~ Kazue's father and the current number seven pro hero in Japan, Dreynen. His Quirk, unknown in name to the public, allows him to... Ha, you thought. You'll find out the full details later, even if it is pretty obvious already.

- Haruma Iwata ~ The hero known as Tecton, aka one of Katashi's two sidekicks. His Quirk is basically Toph's way of seeing, combined with Daisy Johnson's Inhuman ability, I guess?

- Aerogale ~ One of Katashi's two sidekicks. His Quirk allows him to control the winds. He has a name, I just haven't revealed it yet.

- Daguchi Ichiro ~ Aerogale's intern during his second year at Yūei. His Quirk allows him to generate dust from his hands and control it. Oh, and he's a total dick.

- Fueki Shun ~ The Kimura family's driver and unofficial bodyguard. She owes Katashi a shit ton of favors, and used to run an underground fighting ring.

- Hamasaki Etsuko ~ Character yet to be revealed.

- Chisaka Hitomi ~ Character yet to be revealed.

- Furuya Benjiro ~ Character yet to be revealed.
