"We went out for dinner"

"Yeah? You had fun?"

"It was nice"

"I'm sure it was," Susan said and stretched out, ready to take off.

"You're leaving?"

"It's getting late, Jess. You should rest"

"You can stay here for the night"

Susan stood still in front of her lover and smiled, "Is that what you want?"

"Yeah, what's gotten into you?"

"Me? Nothing. I'm just here to please you"

"What is that mean?" Jessica asked, obviously annoyed by Susan's behavior, as she took a sitting position on the couch.

Susan took a minute before talking. She knew that she would only make things worse so she decided to take her time and calmly explain everything to her lover but only when she was ready to.

"Sue, talk to me"

"So," Susan started and took a sit next to Jessica, "You don't want me to leave next week and you don't want me to go home now but yesterday when I was texting you, you never replied. And not only you didn't reply but when Sarah texted you, you had dinner with her, you see now what's gotten into me?"

"I do"

"I want many things too, Jess. I wanna be with you every day but that's not happening, you see me making a fuss about it? No"

"Nothing happened with Sarah"

"Jesus, I know that," Susan said and stood up

"You do?"

Susan just looked at her and reached for her jacket, "So you're acting that way, because..."

"Well, think about it"

"Susan, why do you have to ruin our night, let's just forget about everything, please come back here"

"Sure because that's what you want, huh?"

"And you don't?"

"You'll tell me. Do I?"

Jessica looked at her, "You know what? Whatever, just go" she said and stood up, heading towards the bedroom, "I really don't got the energy for that"

With that, Susan left and Jessica disappeared into the bedroom.

"What is it, Jess?"

"How are you?" Jessica asked but nothing came from the other line. "Sue?" she asked again.

"Yeah"

"Please, stop doing that"

"Alright, I'm good. What about you?"

"I'm good. You got any plans for tonight?"

"No, why?"

"I was thinking maybe you wanna meet?"

"Yeah, I don't think so. We could do that some other time"

"Susan, please... I'm sorry"

"I know"

"Then stop acting like that"

"Fine, okay"

"I've got to go"

"Yeah, I know"

"We'll talk later?" Jessica asked but Susan had already hung up the phone. The blonde woman looked at it and then looked herself in the mirror, sighing loudly.

The show was over. A full house, again. Like every other night. Jessica was in her dressing room, changing her clothes. Her cigarette burning to the side when she heard someone knocking on the door.

"I'm coming," she shouted and wore back the robe she's wearing in the last act. She walked to the door and unlocked it.

"What are you doing here?" she asked with a smile on her face as she let Susan walk inside, "Well, I came to pick you up. Tell your driver to go"

"Sue, I'm not walking," Jessica said while laughing and reached for her cigarette

"Then tell him he's picking me as well," Susan said and sat on the couch, "Come on, get ready"

"You wanna talk about what happened?"

"Look, I overreacted, I know that but what would you do? You weren't replying to my messages until the next day, you told me not to go to Italy and I know you mean it and yeah, you want me to be there for you when you're out here living your best life. Aren't you a little selfish?"

"I am"

"I know you are"

"But that's only because I can't... I hate being away from you"

"Me too, Jess but I am doing it and I never complain about it. I knew things would turn out this way the day you signed up for this project and I was there for you. Now, I ask you to do the same. I can't be running after you whenever you need me. I've got my own life, my career. You think I like seeing every other night and only after 10? No! I missed taking walks with you, going out for dinner, having coffee with you or even going to movies. I missed you!"

"It all ends in June"

"Well, thank God" Susan replied and laughed, "Now come on, get ready"

Jessica put out the cigarette and removed the robe, she threw it next to Susan and reached for her blouse.

"You need help?"

Jessica chuckled, "I think I got this" she replied and wore the blouse, "You're sitting on my coat"

"Oh," Susan whispered and stood up, she took the coat and approached her lover. "Thanks," Jessica said and wore it while Susan now wrapped her hands around Jessica, "You know what puzzles me?"

"What?" Jessica asked and leaned her head on Susan's shoulder.

"I talked to Sarah, I needed tickets for her play, and she told me that she hopes I'm feeling better"

Jessica straightened her head and cleared her throat as she broke Susan's hug and moved away, "Yeah?"

"Yeah, you got any idea why she told me that?"

"So you'll go watch her play instead of mine?"

"The tickets aren't for me, Jessica and that is not the point"

"Then what's the point?" Jessica asked and picked up her bag

"The point is that you lied to me. She wanted me to come join you that night but you didn't want me there"

"How about we'll talk about this at home, huh?"

"Sure, that will give you some time to think"

"You think I need an excuse?"

"I don't know anymore"

"I'm telling you, I don't"

"Then go ahead. Explain to me now why you didn't want me with you"

"Because Sarah understands how I feel towards the play"

"And I don't? I worked on Broadway, Jess. I know how the whole thing works"

"But it's different!"

"Where's the difference?"

"How about we'll talk about this at home?"
