FATWS Chap. 2; A debt to be paid
*Author's note*
Okay so this chapter was a LOT of fun to write, esp. the ending part of it. Now there are SPOILERS IN THIS CHAPTER OF EPISODE 4 OF FATWS so if you want to avoid the spoilers, you can LOOK AWAY then come back and read this chapter (though it's really just a fight scene that's being spoiled). Anyways I also want you all to LISTEN TO THE SONG DOWN BELOW!!! Now that I've been trying to find some true Native American music, this I could consider to be Mother Wolf Raksha's theme, especially when she goes on the hunt!
As for the new suit, type in White Wolf marvel. I drew inspiration from the actual White Wolf costume from the comics. And with that, I hope you all enjoy this good read :)
___________________________________________________________________________
A couple days after Walker invaded my homeland, we fixed the barrier up and using my Mystical arts magic, I made the forcefield even stronger to ensure that nothing (not even man-made bombs) could destroy the barrier within the rock formation.
It was just before dawn and Rauri and I were cuddled up asleep in our family den in our wolf forms. It was then I heard the pitter patter of paws coming towards us and I heard Tony say from his collar.
'Mum! Mum! C'mon mum we gotta go, wake up!' My ear twitched as I soon felt the two of them hop up onto my back and I let out a grunt.
'Your pups are awake.' Rauri's tired voice came from his collar, knowing that his eyes were still shut.
'Not my fault you couldn't keep it to yourself that night. So they're your pups too.' I said censoring myself around the pups as I raised my head to get Tony off my neck.
'Come on mom wake up! You promised us a hunting trip.' Natasha spoke up. I raised my head and let out a long yawn. My tongue curled up as a mix between a grunt and whimper escaped my wolf mouth.
'Right. Hunting lesson.' I stretched myself out and I even heard Rauri let out a yawn.
'Papa, are you gonna come hunting with us too?' Natasha asked as she came right between his front legs and started to roll over, exposing her belly to him.
'Afraid not lass. See unlike your mother, my wolf form is too big for a hunting lesson. The deer will easily spot me. Plus I don't have that much experience, unlike your mother. She was raised in these lands and knows all of its secrets.' He then proceeded to gently lick her soft, fluffy belly.
'Aww.' Natasha whined.
'But never worry. One day soon, we'll all go out hunting all four of us.'
'Promise?' she said as she stood up and looked her father dead in the eye.
'I promise.' The two of them gently pressed their foreheads together.
'Come on Nat or we'll leave without you!' Tony cried out. Rauri gave Natasha a slight nudge off the raised rock platform bed and I told him we'd be back soon.
The twins and I left the den and walked along the open plains of my homeland. As the sun slowly began to rise higher into the sky the animals of this region would now just be waking up. Soon enough we spotted a deer herd just up ahead.
'Alright,' I whispered to them. 'Now, no loud noises, and don't spook them.' I stayed downwind of the deer, my wolf instincts telling me exactly what to do. All those hunting lessons in Wakanda started coming back to me. I crouched down, kept myself as low as possible before finding the tall shrubs and bushes to help hide me from the herd. 'Hunting is sacred my children. It is our right. But we never do it for sport.' I whispered to the kids as they followed my every movement.
My metal claws dug into the earth, feeling the vibrations underneath. I hide behind some shrubs and saw that one of the young bucks had broken away from the herd and was eating all alone. Every muscle in my body contorted into start position, my instincts screaming at me telling me to take the shot now.
I bared my teeth then as quick as a flash took off running straight ahead. The buck didn't even have a second to react as I pounced on it and it bleated out a warning cry before I silenced it for the final time. My kids watching in awe as they saw their mother take down a buck that was slightly bigger than them.
Now in my human form, I carried the buck over my shoulders and placed it down in an open spot. My kids came running up, their tails wagging frantically as they desperately wanted their first taste of real meat in their wolf forms.
"Wait. Wait!" I ordered them. I knelt down beside them, placing my hands on top of their heads as I told them. "We look them in the eye, so that the soul—doesn't depart alone." The three of us looked down at the young buck who was barely clinging to life, its eye twitching very faintly as it's throat was heavily trying to take a breath.
Before it finally went still and the light in its eyes left.
Once it was dead, the kids and I dug into our breakfast for the day. When we had our fill, I buried the kill with some branches and leaves to hide the scent from any other potential predators that wanted to snag my kill.
"Alright, so whose ready to see if they can take their first kill?" the kids cheered as they ran around excitedly, their tails wagging frantically.
"(Y/n)! (Y/n)!" coming down from the trees was Sophia, Caesar's mate. The alpha female of the ape chimeras stood before me and I said.
"What is it Sophia what's wrong?"
"An aircraft ship just landed at the border."
"US Military?" she shook her head.
"It's—it's a Wakandan aircraft." Hearing that I knew it had to be a serious matter.
"Kids, I want you to stay with Sophia while mommy handles some business."
'But mom!' they whined, I gave them my 'mom look' and said.
"No buts pups. Now stay with her. Sophia, take them home." She nodded whilst I phased into my wolf form and headed towards the border.
Even from afar I could immediately tell just who it was that had come to see me. The Dora Milaje uniform, her intimidating, strong presences, but there was also betrayal radiating off of her.
I walked up and phased into my human form and did a twist of my wrist, crossed my hands over my chest before bringing them down to my side. Soon the barrier dropped enough for her to step through.
"Mother wolf Raksha." She said in Wakandan.
"Ayo." I greeted with a nod. "Any other time I'd be expecting Queen Shuri to make an appearance but since it's just you, I've got a sense that something is wrong."
"Your sharp senses are correct Raksha. And Wakanda needs your help." I put the barrier back up and said to her.
"Let's take a walk." Together her and I walked through the woods and she explained to me everything she knew. She didn't leave out a single detail in her story and to say that I was shocked and betrayed as she was......that would be an understatement. We stopped near the thrush (our nursery where the newborn Chimeras are born).
"How could he do this?" I muttered with a shake of my head.
"He claims that he is a means to an end. But that still doesn't forgive him for releasing the man who killed our king T'Chaka."
"I agree. Not to mention broke up my family since Hydra stole my birth one from me. Bucky and Sam they......first the shield, then Walker, now Zemo's flying around the world like P-Diddy!" her stern look never left her face.
"I know you've retired and made your peace with your family. You are a mother now as well, but after what we did for you. Did for James, we hope that you could be our ace to taking back Zemo." I breathed in sharply and I said.
"To get that son of a bitch off the streets, I'll do anything. But I have one condition."
"Name it." She bluntly said. I gestured for her to walk up the hill and look down. She looked down and saw Maria, Mary the Lt. she-ram, Catherine the dingo, and Ashanti the tigress.
All four women were with their newborn cubs, they were going to spend one more week here in the nursery before being introduced to the rest of the tribe.
"I want Wakanda to give a full protection to every single Chimera here in this tribe. Especially to the children, my children." She turned to me and said.
"It shall be done. But only if you fully cooperate." She spoke the last part in Wakandan.
"I already betrayed Wakanda once, I have no intention of doing it again." I told her back in her mother tongue.
"I'll have Shuri order some of the Dora Milaje and border tribe members to come here to defend the borders of your home." I nodded to her and phased back into my wolf form to tell Rauri the news.
"You're going to what?!" he exclaimed in horror.
"Rauri you're being......"
"Overdramatic!? Oh well forgive me if I want to spend more than six months with my wife when shortly after we were married you were blipped away!"
"You really wanna have this argument right now?! Cause you know you won't win. So choose your next words wisely Rauri." I threatened him. Rauri ran his hands through his hair breathing in sharp, rapid intakes.
"I just......I don't want to lose you again. It's been six months since you came back. And you know what I've done.....mo stór I can't go back to that monster I was. Especially with our kids, I can't." he sat down at the chair.
I knelt down in front of him, took his face in my hand and I told him softly.
"And if I don't help Ayo put him back behind bars. We won't have our kids anymore. Or a future with more kids. The tribe will fall once again and I can't have that. Zemo was a part of the mob that wanted me dead after I had escaped from Hydra back in Sokovia. If he finds out there are more creatures like me, that I've got kids—he'll kill. Every. Single. One of us. And I won't have our children see their parents die right before them like I had to watch mine die." My eyes were now getting glassy with tears as I pleaded with my husband to let me go find Zemo.
"Then let me go with you."
"You know I can't let that happen. As far as he knows, I'm the only Bad Wolf experiment HYDRA created. Your files were burned when you and Connor destroyed CHIMERA." He looked down solemnly. "Plus, one parent needs to stay behind and look after our little pups." He smiled and replied.
"Alright my love, if this will bring you closure I understand. Just....promise me this. If things get too hard, or too extreme. You come home. Because I don't want to be the one to tell the kids their mother's dead."
"I promise." We kissed each other softly and embraced each other tightly, inhaling the other's scent.
At the border Rauri and the kids were there to see me off with Ayo. I hugged my kids in their human forms. My 5 year old twins.
Oh right I should explain that. You see, we've been noticing that with each new generation of Chimera, they have an enhanced aging. You know the saying that a dog lives 7 years to a human? Well first that theory is bullshit, it's not really 7 years, but it is a different aging style.
So in the four months since our kids were born, their human forms have been 2 and 4 years old. We're still unsure of what the exact pattern of their aging is but we're monitoring it with each child. We've also noticed that different species of child ages differently. Compared to my kids and the primate chimeras kids, their aging is faster than the primate children for they are still in the baby ages.
"When will you come back mama?" asked Natasha.
"I'll be back whenever I get done sweetheart. Be good for your father and don't rough your brother too much." I ruffled her hair and gave her a kiss. I then kissed my son and told him. "And you my sweet boy, don't pester your sister." I hugged them both tightly one last time before I got on the aircraft with Ayo.
As we took off flying, she went over to a container and revealed a Vibranium feathered collar that was on a mold of my body.
"Shuri also wanted to give you an upgrade to your suit." I walked up to the mold and just stared at it. Ayo's hand came up from behind me, her wrist just barely an inch away from the back of my neck. I heard her kimoyo beads activate and she told me. "Now tell it to go on."
https://youtu.be/wPbDbfKl5k8
Mentally I activated it and just like T'Challa's (Great Spirits above rest his soul) suit, it formed into a female wolf's suit. It almost looked exactly like the Black Panther suit except it had a wolf's head and nose, and ears. A belt went around the waist to hold my weapons, and the color of the suit matched my wolf fur.
"This updated suit can camouflage you to your surroundings, it can mold and shift around your wolf form much like your old one but it will allow you much more flexibility compared to your armor idea."
"Yeah she never did like that I went with an armor fashion on the one we made together. Now that I'm not co-creator she can make whatever she sees fit. Nevertheless, she's a genius."
"Within the eyes of the mask it enhances your sight, allowing you to see heat signatures and detect motion around you." I wolf whistled.
"So I could see better than Redwing ever could." I mocked as I crossed my arms over my chest.
"Much like our former king T'Challa, Bast bless his soul, the hands and feet of the suit are fully automated and are completely sound absorbent. Each step you take will be silent and precise."
"She really outdid herself." I had the suit deactivate back to the feathered necklace. I took it off and put it around my neck and activated it again. The suit fit snug against my body and like Ayo said, through the eyes of the mask, I could see her heat signatures and I was being shown each cloud we were passing through in the air.
I had the mask deactivate and looked down at my hands and curled them inward and soon the claws came out. Unlike T'Challa's claws, my claws were at least 2-3in long, sharper and thicker. I smirked and turned to Ayo who had a smirk on her face.
"Time for the hunt." I told her in my Cherokee tongue.
From the time that Ayo came to get me and the last time she spoke to Bucky about Zemo, he had about half an hour left till his 8hr deadline was up. The two other Dora Milaje members, Yama and Nomble were still keeping their eye on Sam, Bucky and Zemo.
We met up with them and they informed us that the three of them along with John Walker and his partner that they tried but failed to capture the young female terrorist known as Karli Morgenthau, leader of a terrorist group known as the Flagsmashers. The men were currently in a safehouse that Zemo owned here in Latvia.
I snuck into the building from the third floor window and silently stalked down the stairs till I could hear Sam arguing with Walker in the main dining room. Damnit why did he have to involve himself in here?
"How do you want the rest of this conversation to go Sam? Yeah, you want me to put down the shield? Make it fair?" Walker said to Sam with pure arrogance.
You know the US government should also test a person's character before giving them a certain position of power. That way there are less arrogant assholes going around thinking they have supremacy over others.
As Walker put down the shield (which Sam should have never given up in the first place) that's when Nomble stepped forward and threw her spear, nearly piercing John right through his body. Ayo and Yama moved forward with their spears in their hands, owning the room like the true warriors they were.
"Even if he is a means to your end, time's up." Ayo said to Bucky in Wakandan before continuing in English, "Release him to us now!"
"Hi, John Walker. Captain America." He introduced himself, pointing at himself and not even bothering for the usual handshake that you would normally try to greet someone with. That alone just proves just how arrogant this asshole is.
Luckily, Ayo wasn't even phased, nor impressed. When he didn't get the response he was hoping for, he tried to reason with the Dora Milaje.
"Well let's uh, let's put down the pointy sticks and we can talk this through, huh?" Seriously? Did he just call their weapons pointy sticks? They're Vibranium spears. At least Steve knew what a spear was and he never called them pointy sticks.
"Hey John, take it easy. You might wanna fight Bucky before you tangle with the Dora Milaje."
"The Dora Milaje don't have jurisdiction here...."
"The Dora Milaje have jurisdiction wherever the Dora Milaje find themselves to be." Ayo sneered lowly. Tell him Ayo! John scoffed out a laugh and said.
"Okay. Look, I think we got off on the wrong foot." When he placed his hand on her shoulder that's when I made my move. Sprinting quickly and soon leaping over Ayo's and Yama's body I came straight down and using my Vibranium metal claws on my metal arm, I clawed down John's arm before kicking his leg inward.
Ayo and I spun around each other so that she was now in front and using her spear, she wacked him in the face before kicking him straight into Nomble's spear. His back getting the full impact before he landed flat on his face.
I took out my twin tomahawks, spun over John and slammed the blades right down towards his chest, but John blocked my attack with the shield. I revealed my face to him and I snarled at him.
"I've been looking forward to this." I told my mask to go back up as Ayo and I tag-teamed up against Walker who could barely keep up with us, while Yama and Nomble handled Hoskins. When Ayo would force him to block, I would switch my tomahawk into a small knife and would slash or slice across John's thigh or calf.
"Looking strong John!" I heard Bucky mock. Ayo managed to get John to his knees and I used this opportunity to knock the shield out of his hand and I pinned him to the ground, choking him with my metal arm while my tomahawk was raised high in the air. I revealed my face to him one last time.
"Always look them in the eye." I was just about to finally bash his head in when I felt a hand grip my wrist, forcing me to stop. I turned and I saw Bucky standing over me.
"(Y/n)." my eyes shifted to wolf gold and my fangs came out. "Wolfie let's talk about this!" I phased into my wolf form and immediately tackled him to the ground. The two of us rolling around as I kept trying to snap at him.
He kicked me off of him but using my Vibranium claws from the suit, I slid across the floor and stopped just a few inches away from him. My ears bent back against my head as he and I circled each other. I then charged forward and kept trying to snap at his face, his metal arm holding me back till I took a bite at his human shoulder.
He cried out in agony and I took that chance to pin him down. Placing my paws to pin both his chest and human arm, Ayo finally came up and took her shot. While I held him still, she used the secret code to dislodge the arm from his shoulder. Once it fell to the ground with a thud, I released him and he looked down at his arm before turning to us.
A look of pure shock written across his face.
"Bast, damn you, James." Ayo sneered. I phased into my human form and allowed the mask to dissolve.
"What is given can be taken." I growled softly. "Like my trust." I followed Ayo to the closed bathroom where there was a large hole right near the bathtub.
"Can you track him?" she asked me.
"With this new tech, I won't just have to rely on my nose. I'll signal you once I have him." I allowed the mask to just come over my eyes and I could see Zemo's footprints all around the hole, and some of his handprints going down the walls. I hopped down the hole and proceeded to track him down.
*3rd Person POV*
As soon as (Y/n) went to track Zemo, she turned to Nomble who had the shield on her arm.
"Raksha is tracking him now. Leave it." Nomble looked down at a now humiliated John Walker and dropped the shield into his lap. Without another word, the Dora Milaje left the safehouse and waited to hear from Mother Wolf Raksha.
Sam and Hoskins stood up recovering from their fight with the Dora Milaje, Hoskins feeling more strain on his body than Sam. Bucky looked down at his arm, Ayo's and (Y/n)'s words buzzing through his head as he went to grab his arm.
"Did you know they could do that? Especially (Y/n)." Bucky reconnected his arm and the edges all frilled up back into alignment as it whirred up.
"No." Bucky merely replied before circling his arm to get his arm back into position. Lemar walked up to his friend, who was still down on his knees in humiliation, and asked him.
"You alright?"
"They weren't even super soldiers. And I thought—I thought the wolf girl needed her tribe to be strong?" Hoskins helped John back onto his feet and he and Sam stared each other down, before he and Bucky left the US agents alone in the safehouse.
Walker's shame and humiliation still lingering down around him. How could women have beated him without an enhancement to them? And in (Y/n)'s case, why was she able to fight so aggressively without the backup of her tribe?
He thought she was just playing him, that she was actually weak and helpless without an army of animals to back her up. She was still a kid, so how was this possible?
