Chapter nine
It's 10 Pm and I'm really lazy rn. I'll put the previously here later... I haven't slept much bc I've been working on the next fanfic I'll be releasing after I finish this one. I feel dead.
Ukraine rubbed my back softly as we sat on the plane, I had to admit, in some odd sense... It didn't feel unpleasant.
I sat with my fingers laced, my chin resting on top of them, I was deep in thought. Trying to process all the info I had gathered from the previous morning.
What's going to happen to (Name)..? She isn't going to be trapped in a wheel chair for the rest of her life, is she? No she can't. That damn man! I'll kill him for touching her!!! No I'll too more then KILL him, I'll-
"Natalia..." Ukraine said quietly, snapping me out of my thoughts, my tired gaze moved over to her, exhaustion clear in my expression.
"What?" I asked quietly, too filled with worry and fatigue to care.
"We'll be arriving in London early in the morning, you should try and get some sleep..." She said softly, stroking a lock of hair away from my face. I turned away from her. "No... I'm fine." I persisted, feeling my eyes droop slightly, sleep begging to wash over me, but I wouldn't let it.
There were more important things to think about now... Like (Name)...
I felt small tears form in the corners of my eyes. The girl had always been bright and cheerful.
It's weird that I only met her a few weeks ago... And it's as if now, that I can't let her go... Could she have done something to me? I feel really protective of her... I wondered, feeling small tears falling down my cheeks, forgetting that Ukraine was there watching.
A soft smile graced her features, "you really care about (Name)... Don't you?" She asked, I nodded softly in response, feeling another wave of new emotion taking over me.
She lifted up her armrest and pulled me into a tight hug, smuggling my face into her warm chest, she stroked my hair lovingly, like a mother would to a child.
She started humming to me quietly, continuing to stroke my hair. I cried softly into her shoulder, gripping onto her shirt as I felt sobs wrack my body.
I hadn't heard that tune since I was little, the last time I was told I was loved...
"Belarus, what are you doing?" Ukraine asked, walking up to me. I was chopping off the heads of sunflowers. I don't know why, but I always disliked them, they were far too bright for me.
"I'm killing the sunflowers big sister." I responded, breaking off another sunflower head and throwing it on the ground.
I felt her grab me gently from behind, and carry me away from the flowers.
I glared at the flowers. "Hey, why did you do that." I questioned, slightly miffed.
"You can't kill the sunflowers, then there won't be any left for everyone to admire." Ukraine explained.
"But I don't like to admire them! They're too bright!" I complained. Ukraine smiled, "A long time ago, there once was a boy who thought the same as you. One day, this little boy had to go out and pick up some medicine in the next town over for his mother, who was very ill. The boy knew that if he wanted to get home, all he had to do was follow the son, and that would take him back home.
However, on his way there, the boy was robbed. And his compass and map were stolen.
The boy had no way to get home! So he continued walking. Soon, he approached a clearing, of nothing but sunflowers. His father had once told him that these strange flowers always follow the sun, and to trust them to guide him home.
The boy had nothing, so he decided to take the advice.
For days he trekked, following the flowers, until finally. He found his way home.
The boy was overjoyed at last! Ever since then, the boy has loved the flowers so much, he named them after what they followed so proudly. Sunflowers."
Belarus stared up at Ukraine as she finished her story. "did that really happen?" I asked, she nodded.
"Yes." Belarus looked back up at the flowers, "they really love the sun that much?"
"Mhm."
"Too bad no one will ever love me like they love the sun." I said sadly, Ukraine smiled, hugging Belarus softly.
"You're my sun Belarus. You and Russia both."
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine." Ukraine sang quietly, "you make me happy, when times are grey. You'll never know how, much I love you. Don't you take my sunshine away..." She hushed, continuing to hum the tune.
I sniffled, I thought she hated me all this time... I-I guess she really does care about me... Damn it! Why didn't I realize this before! I hugged my sister tightly, not letting go.
I felt at peace for the first time. Slowly and eventually drifting off into sleep at last.
That was actually extremely emotional...
Sorry these chapters have been really short.
Well, I hoped you enjoyed!
