"ZOMMER! You came back!" Furi cheered, embracing his love in his giant, hairy arms. "Hahaha! Yep! I wish you were there to see it, babe. That battle rocked so hard!" Zommer laughed, sheepishly rubbing xir neck as xe smiled. When the cart looked like it was going to fall off the edge, a giant pipe sucked up Diavlo, Furi, and Zommer up into Strangeglove's blimp. Before Luvli could suffer the same fate, a fishing pole grabbed her by the stalk and pulled her to safety.
"Ow! What on earth was that for?!" Luvli asked, turning around to look at her savior. A green blobby monster with freckles, buck teeth, a fishing pole, bucket, brown pants, green and white shoes, and purple hat looked up at her with an entranced gaze. Coughing a little out of awkwardness, he blushed and twiddled his fingers. "Oh my! I sure am sorry, miss. I didn't mean to cause you no harm! Are you hurt? I think I have a first aid kit in my hat..." he mumbled.
"Wait a minute... who are you, exactly?" Luvli asked, her expression softening. This wasn't one of Strangeglove's minions or Sweet Tooth's cronies! The monster looked up at her with a sheepish grin as he held out his hand for her to shake. "Well, I'm downright glad you asked me, ma'am! I'm Billy Bob! I'm just a regular fisherman 'round these here parts! What's yer name?" He asked. Luvli grinned, placing her right wing in his hand, shaking it elegantly. "Oh, such manners! Well... my name is Luvli! It's nice to meet you, Billy Bob..." she giggled.
What happened next? Let's find out.
Up in Strangeglove's blimp, it was cold, dark, and lonely. The blimp was being piloted by Fishlips using what seemed to be a video game controller. A bit strange, but it seemed to do the job just nicely. As Diavlo, Furi, and Zommer traveled up the tubes, they found themselves being plopped right into their holding cells. They were captured! "Are you serious?! How did we even get here? Wasn't our cart supposed to follow the same path as Poppet and Katsuma?!" Furi asked, facepalming as he pointed this out.
"Wait a minute... you mean to tell me that Poppy and Kat are still out there?! Without us?" Diavlo asked, his eyes widening as he began to worry about all the horrible things that Katsuma could drag Poppet into. She could be hurt! She could be scared! She could be... no. No, don't think about that last possibility, Diavlo. You wouldn't want to catch a heart attack.
"Yeah. There's no time to lose. We gotta get out of here! But... I'm so hungry I could strangle somebody..." Furi growled, his stomach rumbling and giving him a spike of pain. Looking at the cold, iron bars of his cell, he began to imagine that they were nice, savory sticks of beef jerky instead. He licked his lips as he grabbed onto the bars. Then, with all of his might, he pulled back and ripped them off, casually chomping down on them like they were sticks of celery. Diavlo's jaw dropped as he witnessed the scene.
"I... did you just eat through iron? Like, actual steel?" Diavlo asked, blinking his eyes for a minute until Furi walked out of his cage, pulling the bars off of Zommer's cage and eating those as well before carrying him in his arms and walking away. "Just taking some snacks for the road. Something tells me we're going to need them if we're ever going to find the way to Jollywood before sundown." Furi said.
Diavlo watched them go for a while before a thought came to him. "H-HEY, WAIT A MINUTE! What about me?! You gonna help a buddy out or what?!" He asked, angrily wagging his tail. Furi laughed a little, turning around. "Diavlo, can't you just melt the bars with your fire?" He asked, smiling.
"I'm not angry enough! Tell me something to get me mad!" Diavlo said, tapping his foot on the ground.
"Ok... uh- we're leaving you behind! Because we hate you! Yeah!" Furi said, walking away. He didn't mean it of course but he hated being mean to his friends.
"Are you kidding me? That roast was terrible! Even a rock could roast me better than you! Think of something bigger!" Diavlo yelled.
Zommer thought for a moment before snapping his fingers. "Diavlo, you won't see Poppet again until we get off of this blimp." He said, smiling knowingly.
Hearing those words come out of Zommer's mouth made Diavlo's blood boil. He could deal with being short tempered, rude, and sarcastic, but living without Poppet? He hated that idea. Never being allowed to see her, or hear her sing her lovely songs ever again... the anger began to boil up inside of Diavlo until his hands became so hot that the bars of his cell literally turned into liquid metal and melted into a puddle on the floor. He floated over the mess, grumbling to himself.
"Who would've thought that being without Poppet would make you so mad?" Furi asked, not knowing why Diavlo would be so upset. The demon blushed and looked away, closing his eyes.
"Oh, please! I only did that to escape my cell. Besides... I just hope that Poppy's ok and Kat doesn't try any funny business while I'm not around." Diavlo frowned, a small blush coming onto his face, which Zommer and Furi noticed. Zommer then began to grin, looking at the imp with a smug look.
"...What? What's with the face?" Diavlo asked, crossing his arms as he looked at the zombie.
"You like Poppet, don't you, Diavlo?" Zommer asked, placing xir hands on xir hips as xe smiled.
"WHAT?! N-No! I just don't want her to be hurt or something, y'know! The swooniverse is a dangerous place and all Katsuma's done so far is get us in trouble! I have every reason to be worried about her!" Diavlo stuttered, his face turning more pink by the minute.
"Aww, that's adorable. Now... how do we get off this blimp? We can't just jump off because without a parachute of some sort to slow us down, gravity is going to pull us down to the ground at a rate of about 9.81 meters a second, getting faster and faster the minute that we get closer to the ground in question. Hold on, lemme just-" Furi said, pulling one of the spare chalkbords over and drawing out his very elaborate plan for getting off the blimp, with the characters being drawn in a really funny way.
"Anyway, like I was saying. We could make our way to the escape pods through this door right here, but the Glumps that are patrolling that area will surely see us and they won't be very happy about it. They'll alert Strangeglove and Sweet Tooth and then we'll really be in trouble, so instead what we're going to do is..." He grabbed a nearby bedsheet that looked like it belonged to a giant due to the quality of the material and the pattern of a beanstalk. "We're going to use these bedsheets to make our own parachutes and then we'll jump off through the emergency exit hatch, which is at the end of this hallway. It's closed of course but when God closes a door, I KNOCK it open!" He laughed, pointing at his right fist.
Nodding collectively, the boys got to work in making their parachutes. Who would've thought that someone as seemingly dimwitted as Furi would be so skilled in survival? Once the parachutes were finished, the boys put them on and slowly creeped their way to the end of the hallway. Thankfully, they were able to hide behind some conveniently positioned boxes to prevent themselves from being seen by the guards. When they got to the door, Furi punched the lock and opened it, allowing the three to see the large patch of land that they were standing over.
"Ok, guys... it's time to jump! One... two... three!" Furi announced, jumping off of the platform with Zommer and Diavlo close behind. When they got close enough, they opened their parachutes, allowing them to be safely lowered to the ground. Diavlo panted. He has never felt a rush that extreme before!
"Wow... that was intense. So, where to next, Furi?" He asked, looking up at the behemoth who scooped up a handful of moss and looked around, squinting as he pointed towards a bridge that looked like a piano. "Aha! There. This bridge should lead us right to Jollywood. Katsuma and Poppet should be waiting for us there." Furi replied.
"Well, what are we waiting for?! LET'S GO, GO, GO!" Diavlo smiled, flying over the bridge with glee, his eyes fixated on the rooftops of the buildings of Jollywood. He was going to reach his friends if it was the last thing he did. Furi and Zommer looked at each other and held hands before walking over the bridge together, following Diavlo like he was their son.
Meanwhile, Luvli and Billy Bob were not too far behind. "A fisherman, hm? I must say, darling, you are quite the cutie! What fish have you caught during your journey?" She asked, fluttering her eyes at him. Billy Bob blushed softly as he laughs, twiddling his fingers again.
"Well, I catch all sort of fishies, miss! Mostly for eatin', but in this here cooler I caught myself one of the rarest fish on the island! A cerulean Capper fish! I'm gon' set up my stand in Jollywood. Maybe trade my hard earnings for some of them delicious spices that the locals grow! It could really help my business. Selling spicy fish..." He smiled, looking up at Luvli.
When Billy Bob mentioned Jollywood, Luvli's mind quickly snapped back to the mission. "Wait... Jollywood? OH MY, THE MISSION! I totally forgot about it! Why, it's 5:00 PM and we still haven't collected the Blue Jeepers tears! We must get there quickly! Hold on, darling. We're going to take a little shortcut." Luvli said, holding Billy Bob in her arms as her stalk began to glow. With enough concentration, she teleported the both of them away from the middle of the jungle, right to the front of Jollywood's gates. Like magic, Diavlo, Furi, Zommer, Katsuma and Poppet all appeared out of the brush.
"Guys! So lovely of you to join us!" Luvli cheered, feeling a little drained from the teleporting.
"It's nice to see you too! We thought we lost you! Now that we're all back together again, I think that we should get back to the task at hand. We need Blue Jeepers tears and in order to gather those, we need to get into Jollywood! ...but how do we do that?" Poppet asked, tilting her head.
To be continued...
