Chapter 3: Lotions & Potions, Hexes & Spells

Previously on Moshi Monsters: The Movie (Rewritten):

"Ok! If everybody is buckled up and ready to go, then it's up, up, up, AND AWAY WE BLOW!" Diavlo smiled, pushing his foot down on the go pedal as the team rocketed into the sky thanks to the jet-fueled boosters on the side of the vehicle.

"AAAAAAHHHHHH! I HOPE WE ALL DIDN'T EAT ANYTHING BEFORE THIS!" Katsuma screamed, holding onto his seat with his claws out of fright.

But what happened afterwards?

The Hot Rod continued flying above the beautiful seas below as our heroes kept their eyes fixated on the prize. The consequences for failing to rescue the egg would be catastrophic for both them and their homes. They had to remain 100% serious if they were to have any hope of stopping Dr. Strangeglove and Sweet Tooth from creating a weapon of mass destruction. Poppet happily kicked her legs as she looked out the window, amazed with how quickly the gang was zipping by. Zommer, who was a little bit tired from the museum mishap, rested his head on Furi, who didn't seem to mind in the slightest.

Then Katsuma asked that irritating question that every driver hates. "Are we there yet?" He asked, poking his head out of the window to look at Diavlo, who was keeping his eyes fixed on the island up ahead.

"Yeah, yeah, don't get your stripes in a twist! We're almost there. I just gotta slow down a little bit so we can land in the Gombala Gombala Jungle without scratching my sick ride. Don't you worry, though! We'll save that egg or die trying!" Diavlo responded, slowing down the Hot Rod and positioning it so that it was slowly floating down into the jungle.

Katsuma popped his head back in and rolled up the window again, his eyes wide open. "...die?" He asked. He wanted to make sure the egg was safe and all but... was it really something worth risking his life over? "Die?" He asked again, trying to process what Diavlo just said. With a few bumps and sharp jags, the Hot Rod safely landed in the thicket of the Gombala Gombala Jungle. "Alright, we're here! Everybody get out while I find a good spot to park!" The hotheaded devil said, opening the door so that his friends could come out. And out they came. Furi, holding Zommer in his arms, Luvli, Poppet, and then Katsuma.

"Alright, we're here... but how do we find the Woolly Hoodoos? They could be anywhere in this jungle!" Furi pointed out, gently cradling Zommer like xe was a baby. Just then, Poppet reached into her small, blue bag and pulled out a textbook that was titled "An Expert's Guide on the Gombala Gombala Jungle" and began reading it, scanning every word.

"Uh, while my accomplice reads her textbook, I shall scout ahead and make sure there's no dangers! Diavlo, Furi, you come with me. Zommer, Luvli, you stay here." Katsuma ordered.

"I don't know why you're the one calling all the shots when we're in this together, but whatever. We don't have time to argue. Right behind ya, Kat! Come on, big guy." Diavlo responded, following Katsuma into the bushes as Furi waddled behind him.

"Oh, here's an interesting fact! It says here that the Blue Hoodoo tribe communicate through whistling! Isn't that interesting, Luvli?" Poppet asked, her tail wagging as she looked up at her best friend.

"Yes. darling! It's very interesting! I especially like the part where the book says that these furry creatures make their own outfits out of coconut shells and herbs that they find in the jungle!" Luvli smiled, glowing with happiness.

"Uh, hate to ruin the mood here, but shouldn't we tell Katsuma, Diavlo, and Furi that? They went right into the middle of the village square." Zommer pointed out, scratching xir head with his hand.

Poppet gasped, her expression turning into one of fear. "Oh my goodness, you're right! My poor friends are going to cause themselves to get into big trouble! We gotta go help them! Luvli! Zommer! Follow me. We have to get them outta there!" She screamed, running off towards the village, following the map in her textbook.

Deeper into the jungle, the three gentlemen found themselves right in the middle of the Blue Hoodoo village. "Aha! See? What did I tell you? There's no danger here! Look, the Oobla-Doobla is right here. Fresh for the picking!" Katsuma said, climbing on top of Furi  to try and reach the fruit. Noticing the intruders, the inhabitants of the village came out of their huts and they weren't very happy. "Gombala Gombala, walla walla hoo-ha! Gombala Gombala, walla walla hoo-ha!" They repeated, pulling out their spears and pointing them at the three.

Furi noticed the villagers and was a little bit taken back. "They're everywhere, Diavlo! They have us surrounded..." he whispered, shaking in his fur as he looked around at the Woolly Blue Hoodoos in fear.

"Never mind the villagers, Furi! It's the fruit that we want! Here, allow me. I'm not very fluent in their language, but I can try." Diavlo reassured him, lowering himself to the ground so that he was standing on his two legs before waddling up to the chief and whistling a beautiful melody. It was like that of a Disney Princess! The chief whistled back, seemingly interested. Diavlo whistled again, making his melody sound more serene and peaceful. The chief responded with a curious tune. When the two finished their conversation, they awkwardly stared at each other for a few moments before the Blue Hoodoos tossed Diavlo, Katsuma, and Furi into their cauldron of boiling hot stew!

The three monsters were now trapped in the cauldron, being cooked alive by the Woolly Blue Hoodoos of the Gombala Gombala Jungle.

"I've got this, guys! I'll get us out!" Katsuma mocked his fiery friend, rolling his eyes in annoyance.

"How was I supposed to know that translated into an insult?! I told you I wasn't fluent in their language! I only know they communicate by whistling!" Diavlo defended.

"Whatever... I hope Poppet gets here soon, though. Ugh, I'm boiling in here..." Katsuma sighed, letting his head hit the edge of the cauldron as his mouth dropped to try and stop himself from boiling.

"Pfffft. Please! Back where I'm from, we take baths in magma pools. This is lukewarm at best." Diavlo rolled his eyes.

Just before the three gentlemen could become the tribe's dinner, a familiar pink puppy/cat girl with enchanted blue boots came walking down the dirty path with Luvli and Zommer close behind. "Wait!" She called out, clearing her throat before she also began to whistle, fluently explaining to the chief that her friends and herself meant no harm. They just wanted to collect the Oobla-Doobla for an important mission. After being told this, the Chief surprised everybody by speaking perfect English. "The big-headed one is right. We cannot possibly eat these three men. That one is too hairy, that one is too spicy, and that third one... is very salty." He agreed, motioning to Furi, Diavlo, and Katsuma. "Set them free at once!" He ordered.

The villagers nodded, using the stick end of their spears to lift the boys out and gently place them on the ground. "Wait, if you could speak English this entire time, why did you have us go through all of that whistling junk?" Diavlo asked, looking very unamused.

"We do it to ward off intruders. With the latest Moshling disappearances, our people have been very on edge recently. We cannot trust anybody who wanders into our village. They might just be working for those two candy-capped menaces. The last thing I need is my people disappearing because I couldn't do anything to stop it. I suppose there is a way for you to get some Oobla-Doobla. We'd have to consult with our local shaman, though. If I remember correctly, I believe we wrote a song about Big Bad Bill..." The chief thought, rubbing his chin.

"Really? Do you remember any of it?" Poppet asked, very curious to hear the song. Just like that, the villagers began to drum a very upbeat tune.

"They remember, alright!" Zommer smiled, pulling out xir guitar and getting ready to jam out along with the tribe.

"Big Bad Bill is a Woolly Blue Hoodoo
Big Bad Bill is a Woolly Blue Hoodoo
Big Bad Bill is a Woolly Blue Hoodoo
Big Bad Bill is a Woolly Blue Hoodoo
Big Bad Bill is a Woolly Blue Hoodoo
Big Bad Bill is a Woolly Blue Hoodoo" the tribesmen repeated, dancing around the fire.

"Deep in the jungle, friends kept disappearing
Sent out a search party, they found a clearing
There stood a Moshling all woolly and blue
Stirring a cauldron of hot Hoodoo Stew!" The chief sang, walking backwards to reveal Big Bad Bill, who was now stirring a new cauldron of stew.

"Singing~
Lotions and Potions and Hexes and Spells
Strange Creepy Crawlies and Sweet Jungle Smells
Fried Oobla-Doobla in Coconut Shells
Purple Bananas and Moonlit Gazelles" As they sang, Diavlo was completely buried in gazelles and bananas.

"Don't look now, but I think I heard a twig crack!
Don't look now, but I think I heard a twig crack!
Don't look now, but I think I heard a twig crack!
Don't look now, but I think I heard a twig crack!" The tribesmen whispered.

"Wiping his fur due to great jungle heat,
Bill started pounding a fierce tom tom beat
Putting the limbo bar lower and lower
Accompanied by rumblings from Mount Krakka Blowa" the chief narrated as Bill continued to do just that.

"Big Bad Bill, he's-a gonna throw a party
Big Bad Bill, he's-a gonna throw a party
Big Bad Bill, he's-a gonna throw a party" Some Moshlings from deeper in the woods appeared.

"Lotions and Potions, and Hexes and Spells.
Strange Creepy Crawlies and Sweet Jungle Smells
Fried Oobla-Doobla in Coconut Shells
Purple Bananas and Moonlit Gazelles~
'DRUMS!" The tribesmen commanded as Diavlo, Furi, and Luvli rushed over to the drums and quickly began to play along with the beat. Diavlo gets covered in bananas again, much to his annoyance.

"Gombala Gombala wallawalla hoohaa
Gombala Gombala wallawalla hoohaa
Gombala Gombala wallawalla hoohaa
Gombala Gombala wallawalla hoohaa" the tribesmen chanted, dancing around the three Moshis.

"Went to a hut, met the Chief of the tribe
He said: 'Do you dig this hip jungle vibe?'
'Well then there's just one more thing I'd prescribe!'
'Make like a Hoodoo and then give me FIVE'" Poppet smiled, giving the chief a high five.

"Singing~
Lotions and Potions, and Hexes and Spells.
Strange Creepy Crawlies and Sweet Jungle Smells
Is this a dream or a strange kinda voodoo?
Partying hard with a Woolly Blue Hoodoo" The chief then gave Poppet the Oobla-Doobla that they needed. Diavlo steps to the side of where he is usually covered in bananas and proudly smiles only to have some Hoodoos bury him from above anyway.

"Big Bad Bill is a Woolly Blue Hoodoo
Big Bad Bill is a Woolly Blue Hoodoo
Big Bad Bill is a Woolly Blue Hoodoo
Big Bad Bill is a Woolly Blue Hoodoo" the tribesmen chanted as they went back to their huts.

"Well... thanks for coming to visit us, Ms. Poppet. Hopefully we can see you and your friends again after this whole SweetGlove thing passes over? Usually it takes a long time to fry Oobla-Doobla, but we understand that you're in a hurry so we just gave you one that was already fried. Keep it safe, and may the spirits guide you." The chief Hoodoo said, waving goodbye to the Moshi Monsters before returning to his hut as well.

"Goodbye! Thanks for your help!" Poppet waved along with the other Moshi Monsters. "Come on, guys. We have no time to waste. We still have two more artifacts to find, and it's already 3:00 PM! We gotta make our way to Jollywood, FAST!" She said, the others nodding as they quickly ran off, following the map to the music bridge that would take them to Jollywood.

Meanwhile, with Dr. Strangeglove and Sweet Tooth...

"Muahahahaha! Our plan is working, my little bonbon! It's working!" Dr. Strangeglove cheered, jumping up in the air.

"Eh... you realize that once they get to Jollywood, they'll be temporarily free from our watchful eyes, right? There's no service in there so our security cameras won't work, and the climate's too hot for our Glumps to do anything. Not like they were useful anyway." Sweet Tooth sassed, rolling a lollipop in their mouth.

"Oh, that's where you'd be mistaken, my scrrrrrumptious snickerdoodle! Fishlips! Front and center, if you please! I'm trying to show my precious parfait something!" Dr. Strangeglove demanded. Just like that, Fishlips bounced in through the door, happily looking up at the doctor and his sweetheart. "Hi, Dad! Hello, parent!"

"We are not your parents, you spherical fool! Do you have Scare Force 1 all rounded up and ready to be dropped off?" Dr. Strangeglove asked.

"Oh yeah, Doc! They're loaded and ready to rumble!" Fishlips cackled.

"Wow. What's the plan, honey?" Sweet Tooth asked, looking up at Strangeglove with an intrigued look.

"I was hoping you'd ask that, my rrrravishing Ring Pop! You see, everything else that I've tried has failed me in the past, but I still have my greatest weapon yet. You. It's your time to shine, my love. I want you to go down to the Candy Cane Caves and do what you do best. Hit them where it hurts, darling. Right in their stomachs." Dr. Strangeglove smiled at his love, holding their paws in his gloved hands.

"Strange..." Sweet Tooth's eyes shimmered for a while until they shook their head, a blush coming to their cheeks. "Yes. I'm on it. I'll go set my traps. I'll call you when I'm done. Sugarplum out." They said, kissing Dr. Strangeglove really quickly before running off.

To be continued...
