THANKS TO @Yasmin_Solangelo FOR THE CHARACTER!!!!!! ALSO, NO HATE AGAINST HOMOSEXUAL PEOPLE OR ANYONE ELSE, I DONT KNOW HOW ACTUAL HOMOPHOBIA IS PLAYED OUT. ITS JUST HOW I SEE IT IN MY MIND.
Disgust shown on my face as I looked at the two males, holding hands and kissing as I ordered my morning coffee. I sat across the room from them and opened my laptop. Honestly, to like someone of the same gender is unnatural; repulsing even. But, knowing this generation, they're probably just attention seeking.
Once I finished my coffee, I made my way to my work building, scowling at the LGBT pride signs on the street lamps. June. Disgusting. "Pride month." What's there to be proud of? Being an alien amongst humans?
Don't think I overlooked the events happening on the street as I was driving. Homosexual couples. Parades. Protests. I rolled my eyes and kept them on the road, trying not to focus on the stuff happening that didn't need my attention.
"HAPPY PRIDE MONTH!" Exclaimed Betty, a huge supporter of the LGBT community, as people walked into the building. She was wearing buttons that proclaimed her beliefs about the matter and I thought to myself, "There should be some for people who are against this."
I tried ignoring her and heading straight to my office, but she kept offering me a button, blocking the doorway. My patience slowly wore out as I kept trying to get in.
"Take a button! It's pride month! Don't you want to show your respect for them?" She asked, holding out one of her buttons.
"Stop! Honestly, you crazy people and your beliefs! Homosexuals aren't even real! They're just attention hogs (I try to avoid cussing) and even if they were actually attracted to the same gender, they're unnatural, disgusting beings. Seriously! They're all abominable people!" I huffed out, pushing Betty out of my way and slamming the door before getting a proper response. I caught her face in the small crack of the door as it closed. It was twisted into an expression holding both horror and anger. I smirked.

The streets were still littered with rainbow confetti, plastic flags, and crushed food. I drove silently, shaking my head at the sight. I was about a third of the way home when I received a call from Naomi.
Hey Naomi why did you call?
Hi sweetie, I'm just calling to let you know, Will's coming home from camp and joining us for dinner today. He said that he's bringing a friend.
Okay, thanks for the heads up.
No problem. Drive safely.
She hung up and I sighed. When was the last time I saw Will? Was it when Naomi gave birth to Kevin a while back? No, that was too long. It was when two years ago, when he came back from the battle they fought in Manhattan. My thoughts swallowed my attention and before I knew it, I was home. I wasn't sure how Will and his friend was getting here. I'm hoping he found a girlfriend and was going to introduce her to us tonight.
I took out my keys and unlocked the door. Instantly, I smelt the amazing dishes my wife was making.
"Daddy!" A shrill voice filled my ears, taking my attention away from the scent. A 7 year old boy jumped on me, hugging my chest. I laughed and scooped him into my arms, placing kisses on his face.
"Kevin! How's my little boy?" I asked, grinning.
"I'm not little anymore." He said defiantly, crossing his arms. "I'm 7 now"
"Aw but you're still the youngest in the family." I said teasingly.
I got up from the squatting position I was in, leaving him pouting and arms crossed. I walked into the kitchen and wrapped my arms around the woman inside.
"How was your day?" I asked.
"Good. You?"
"The same as always. Hey, do you reckon Will's bringing a girlfriend he wants us to meet?" I asked Naomi.
"Maybe, or just a friend from camp."
I walked into my office, closing the door so I can finish some of the extra work I had. After about an hour, there was a knock on the front door and I heard Naomi open it and the sound of cheerful voices filled the house. I got up from my desk and opened the door, taking in the scene.
Will hasn't brought a girlfriend, it was a shorter boy who was probably younger than him by a year or so.
Naomi rushed us into the dining room before any questions could be asked, saying that the food will get cold.
"Willy!" Kevin exclaimed as he ran into the room and into his arms. I smiled.
The person Will had brought wasn't speaking much, just saying things like "Thanks for having me." "Hello." "The food smells great."
Honestly, he was a bit unnerving to me. Kind of goth or emo. But the picture was ruined once it got to his eyes. They looked tired and worn but also shined with an admirable gleam whenever he looked near Will.
No. He wouldn't. I let my suspicions flow through my mind as a examined him.
We sat at the table soon after Naomi got all the food and dishes set up and began eating.
I noticed how little the person ate, taking a tiny bit from every piece that barely made half a plate. As I looked over, Will noticed too and glared at him when he looked his way. Rolling his eyes, he took more of the green beans.
"So, Will, would you like to introduce us?" I asked, tired of not knowing who this person was.
"Oh right, I forgot. This is my.. friend Nico. He goes to camp with me."
No one seemed to notice the slight hesitation after the word "friend" except me. But I chose ignored it, probably a mess up.
After making a bit of small talk, Naomi finally asked the question everyone's been wondering.
"So Will, why did you want to have dinner with us tonight? It's not winter or summer break as far as I know.
Will's face flushed and he was suddenly interested in the table cloth.
"Um, yah so about me wanting to come and all, it's because I have some big news." He looked at Nico unsurely. Nico gave an encouraging smile. I had a clue on what was going on and I wasn't liking it.
"Mom, Joseph, I'm Bisexual."
My mind exploded as my worst thoughts were confirmed.
"And Nico?" I asked through gritted teeth.
Will reached over and took his hand. "He's my boyfriend."
"I will not tolerate having someone who is unnatural and an abomination to this world in our house." I tried to keep my rage in.
"Sweetie, calm down. Will honey it's fine. Joseph just needs some time to get used to it, right?" Naomi asked.
"No, I won't have someone like you in this house. You people disgust me."
Will kept quiet, Nico and holding his hand, whispering that it was okay.
"Well, what is your definition of unnatural? Because I'm pretty sure that being half-god is more unnatural than liking the same gender and you seem perfectly fine with that!" Will spluttered angrily, finally looking up to meet my eyes.
"I do mind that you're a freak, but since you never really come around and it's kept secret, I'm fine with it. But if you're here, or anywhere you can show anyone that you're one of those people and it can ruin my character."
"Fine! I won't come back! You can have your stupid reputation!" Will stood up with so much force, the chair knocked over. He grabbed Nico and dragged him out of the house, slamming the door.
Naomi sighed. "Joseph I understand your beliefs but you have to understand that this is your child technically and you need to tolerate it. Maybe it's not preferable in your mind, but it's no excuse to acting in the way you did. He was already terrified of telling us, you could see it. I'm going to clean everything up and leave you to think about it."
I shook my head, walking up the stairs to get ready for bed. I stared out the window and noticed Nico and Will outside the front door. Will was sitting on the step, hunched over trembling, probably crying, and Nico sat next to him kissing his forehead and trying to soothe him.
I closed my eyes and began to run through all the events that happened tonight, Naomi's words still in my mind.
