LARK was ever curious sitting in front of Finch Barstow. From the last couple days of him invading her house asking for a cup of Pike's Peak in a mug with cheesy quotes, she realized she knew nothing about Finch despite messing around with the weirdo. It didn't matter that she was comfortable around anyone who didn't pose a threat, but getting to know this guy as a friend seemed to have satisfied the empty gap in her.
"Full name?" Lark had begun their game of questions with the simplest question. Finch raised a thick brow at her, the mug a centimeter from his lip. He looked slightly disturbed that Lark had disrupted his quick sip, but he set the mug down and answered with a blank expression.
"Finch Adrien Barstow," He said before quickly taking a sip from his cup, beating Lark the moment he had noticed her lips parted to ask him something else. "How about you?" Finch wiggled his eyebrows at her, earning an eye roll.
"Do I have to?" Lark whined, hiding her face in the big mug that certainly looked like a soup bowl than a coffee mug. Finch bobbed his head, eyebrows scrunched on his forehead as if Lark had offended a forbidden rule. Sighing in defeat she answered with, "Lark Winnifred Ferris."
"Winnifred? That's like my grandma's name!" Finch barked out a laugh, something so absurd that Lark instantly threw a napkin at his face. Apologizing through snorting fits, Lark inhaled sharply before firing another question at him.
"When did you move here? Do you live alone?" She didn't mean to ask two, and by the look on Finch's face he didn't expect that either. However, the expression faded as Finch puckered his lips in thought. It looked comical, like Finch belonged in some cartoon rather than real life. It made no sense considering his looks were beyond a low budget animation.
"I moved here before you," Finch recalled slowly, as if he really didn't remember the first time he step foot into the apartments. "I am also very, very single and have no companions other than myself. Sadly and rather inhumanly, I hate pets, especially that Bug thing." He pointed towards Lark's cat Bug, who was licking himself calmly on his cat bed by the kitchen door. A pang of guilt hit Lark in chest as she remembered practically assaulting Finch with her cat. If she had known, she wouldn't have traumatized him.
"Since you asked two, lemme enlighten you as well. Where do you buy your coffee and please lend me your keurig."
"First, my grandma gives me them when she travels," Lark smiled, her fingers tucking the loose strands of hair behind her ear, "and two, no. That's from my money."
"Give the broke college kid some charity~" Finch whined, but Lark couldn't miss the smile evident on his face. His smile lacked the dimples Cedric had, though you could easily tell Finch's smile didn't need accessories to be brighter than the sun.
"Then get a job," Lark shrugged her shoulder with a chuckle. The boy in front of her had completely abandoned his coffee and instead focused his attention on her with a pout.
"What?" She asked, raising a questioning eyebrow at him. Finch pursed his lips, "Are you ticklish?"
"No?" However, Finch took 'no' as a 'yes' and lept off his chair, going around the table to tackle Lark off her own. The two of them were then on the floor, a mix of limbs and crazy laughs emitting through the kitchen. Finch instantly knew her sides were the weak spot, and in seconds, he got her crying of laughter on the floor.
"Lend," He said in between laughs, "me your keurig!" Lark shook her head, unable to see through the tears pooling in her eyes. Finch rolled his eyes, tickling Lark's sides harder until she gave up.
"Fine!" Lark swatted his hands off, desperately trying to catch her breath. "Come for coffee whenever you want. I never lock the balcony door anyways." She admitted while wiping the tears off her face.
Finch got off her with a winning smile, his mini-celebration continued towards the keurig. He hugged the machine tightly, which was an odd sight, but Lark ended up laughing. He was such a kid, and thankfully, she knew just how to deal with them.
