-Wrote an impromptu part about lil' baby 14 y/o Kaldur  going on land-

Rocking slightly, Kaldur'hm rested a hand on the wall to steady himself. The sudden turning of his head set the boy off balance and he crumpled to the floor, landing hard on his knees.

"Are you okay there?" One of the heroes who milled about the room leaned forwards, sliding an arm around Kaldur and pulling him up.

Kaldur wasn't sure what they had said, but the woman looked down at him expectantly. He said what he always did, what contented the adults. "I'm sorry."

"It's okay." Wonderwoman offered him a seat, which Kaldur took so as to not seem rude. "Your King's doing alright, but he'll likely have to stay overnight. He needs to sleep." She explained, seeming to notice that her words flew over his head.

"Yes. Sleep." The boy confirmed miserably.

"Do you have anywhere to go?" She asked, resting a hand on the back of his head. "Can you find home by yourself?" He shook his head, hesitantly. "Okay... That sounds like an issue."

Kaldur, barely understanding her, stared at the floor. "I can sit," He said, trying to explain. "until overnight."

"Is it safe for you?"

Kaldur tried to decipher this: it is safe to go home with King Orin? He nodded. "Safe."

"Maybe." She looked the boy over, he was mostly dried off now, which was much more reassuring to the heroes than it was for someone who had never been out of water long enough for that. "oh, Aqualad, you're bleeding." Wonderwoman exclaimed. "...You're hurt?"

"Hurt?" Confused, he followed her line of sight down to his knees. Under a small gash in his costume, a thick trickle of dark blood was visible. It was strange, at home the blood floated from the wound and dissolved into the water around him, alerting anyone nearby to the injury. Here the blood clung to him, drizzling down his leg.

"I'll go get a first aid kit." She said, then she added, slower and clearer: "I'm going, sit here."

Kaldur sat, stone still, waiting for her return. King Orin had taken him up to land once more so his body could adjust the pressure change and meet another ingenue, this was never supposed to happen. But he'd done everything he was told to do; staying under a dock and under the water while they fought, he'd even left his hiding spot to carry one of the surface's heroes back to the land before returning to his designated safety. It had taken them some time to locate him to tell them his king has injured and needed to be taken in.

Kaldur hadn't seen him since then, sitting in a tight, clean room full of air he could barely force into his fragile lungs, and surrounded by people who's language he spoke less than fifty words of.

"Hey." He looked up again. "Sorry about Aquaman, he really got knocked out. I got a bit battered but Flash made me sit the rest out after he threw me into the ocean. You're the new sidekick, right? We've been hearing so much about you. What do you think of the land?"

Kaldur frowned, blinking slowly. If there were words he understood in that mee he must have missed them in the onslaught. The boy was small, a year or so his junior, with extremely mammal-like features; that was something Kaldur found himself noticing more and more as he stood around these surface dwellers.
"Aqualad." He repeated, touching his chest, just over his heart. He held his hand out, gesturing for the other boy to follow his lead and introduce himself without the jumbled haste from before.

"I know that!" The boy suddenly grabbed his hand in what first seemed like an attack, jerking it up and down so hard Kaldur's shoulder shook. Maybe the attack only worked on people of his species. "I'm Kid Flash, I've been at this for a few months, so hit me up if you need any help."

Help? Isn't that word about danger? Why would he need danger? And once again the boy with the spotted skin had spoken so fast he barely deciphered anything. "Aqualad." He repeated, worriedly, touching his ribcage. He moved his hand to the boy, expectantly, hoping to get his message across.

"...Kid Flash?" The boy asked, following Kaldur's lead.

Kaldur confirmed one last time, before taking the rest of the boy in; his uniform was very bright, possibly because he's used to seeing the sun and it's brightness inspired him? His face and neck were so spotty Kaldur wondered of the rest of him was; many animals he knew of developed patterns like that to camouflage, maybe this Kid Flash did too. He noticed something out of place on the boy's arm. "Kid Flash, Hurt?"

"Huh?" He followed Kaldur's finger to the thick off-white bands wrapping his arm, stained red and brown in places. "Oh, this? It's nothing. Just part of the job. What about you? Looks like you skinned your knees. Pretty cool, I guess Atlantean blood is like human blood, huh? I guess you wouldn't know. Hey, am I the first Human you've talked to? I mean, Wonderwoman is Amazon, so could be. You know about the Amazon, right?"

"Kid," A voice called, causing them both to turn. The sudden turn set Kaldur swaying from dizziness again. A man in all red with a embossing similar to Kid Flash's on his chest was approaching at a leisurely pace. "I don't think he speaks much English."

"Oh, right." The boy went quiet, frowning at himself. Kaldur wanted to reassure him, but he didn't know what was wrong. "Oh well!" He perked up again. "You hungry?"

"Hun...gry?"

"Yeah." He tore open a loud bag and removed something, he ate the handful ravenously and held out the bag. "Want some?"

Kaldur thought he understood, the boy was asking if he needed sustenance. He wasn't sure what his king would want him to do, but the hours since he'd left home and the sickening empty feeling in his insides told him he ought to take some, just to be polite.

Kid Flash was grinning, awaiting a reaction. At first Kaldur was upset and confused; it was different from anything he'd ever had, and didn't taste of natural origins, he'd heard of the unholstered industrial exports they'd made on land, could they be making... industrial food? The more he chewed the less offensive the taste, it was dry--as everything was here-- and tasted unnatural, but it wouldn't be the worst food to ration. On the second bite he almost convinced himself to enjoy it.

Kid Flash seemed satisficed and began talking to his older half. If they were Talking about him, he wouldn't understand. Kaldur shamefully helped himself to even more of the 'fake food'. He didn't want to be scolded for it, much less to embarrass his mentor, but he was just so, as the surface dwellers put it, Hungry.

Wonder Woman knelt before him. Confused, Kaldur carefully stepped off his chair, going to kneel as well. She stopped him, pushing him back onto his seat. "Sit still, lovely." She cooed, opening something in her hands. Kaldur felt flattered and somewhat embarrassed, looking away as she leaned forwards on her knees, pushing his torn uniform open and wiping something cold over the cut. Kaldur hissed, wincing at the sting. "One second..." She stuck something over the wound. "Are these two getting along?"

"Seems so." Wally's adult replied. "Kid, how about you show Aqualad your science fair work while he's waiting?"

"Aqualad?"  He turned slowly to the person, who beckoned. "Come."

He did, thankful for the short, clear direction, following the man in the strange suit into a large, white room full of a few beds. Kaldur hurried to the only occupied cot at the back.

"Kaldur'ahm." His king grunted, shifting upright; he was awake but didn't look it.

"Sir." Kaldur stood erect, saluting.

"At ease." He waved informally, shifting to Atlantean, much to Kaldur's relief. Learning a new language was exciting, but it was nice to speak and be understood. "How long have you been here?"

"I'm not sure, sir, I've been here since shortly after you were taken in." Kaldur replied, still stiff and tense despite his 'at ease' order.

His King beckoned. "Forwards, boy." He obeyed. King Orin reached forwards and gripped the side of his neck. Kaldur tried to minimize his flinch at the sharp movement, like many, his mandatory military stint had left scars behind. He felt fingers running around the sensitive patch surrounding his gills and tensed, deathly uncomfortable to feel the delicate membrane be touched and lifted. He realized he'd shut his eyes in discomfort and forced them open again. "You've out for far too long, longer than before, we ought to get you home before your mother worries." He looked to the other man in the room and asked something that Kaldur couldn't understand. The man replied and his mentor gave a shouted exclamation, shocking him.

"Is something wrong, sir?" Kaldur shifted on his feet, losing balance again. "Did I do something?"

"Kaldur, you've been out of water for nine hours!

The surprise at his king's animation, along with his own struggle with gravity, sent Kaldur toppling over again, sprawling across the floor. "I'm sorry." He said, confused.
His mentor sprung from the bed, snatching Kaldur's arm and pulling him off the ground, almost dragging him towards the door. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry sir!" Kaldur cried, not even knowing what he'd done wrong.

The man shouted something, trying to block the exit. Orin brushed past him with a blunt remark, half-carrying Kaldur with him. "Kaldur, calm yourself." He said firmly. "I'm taking you home to your mother."

"But you're injured, sir."

"Don't speak of it, Kaldur'ahm."

"yes sir." He replied obediently.

"Let's get you back before you dry out any more."

"yes sir."

-Might do a part 2, but I really just felt like we needed to give Kaldur some more affection and let him be baby for a little bit.-
