Very simple, I'll put it into simple.

Logan is pretty much on the sidelines constantly, not being able to give much to the team and basically been in their shadows. He wants to help and be useful.

He remembers what people say to thomas about getting help and understanding his feelings.

He exhausted.

So, he decides to make a deal with an old friend, he will help Logan be stronger then the rest and finally help thomas.

Either sharing a body or completely swapping places.

He wants to help thomas, no matter the cost.
