Chapter One

welcome back to the new and improved...
More Than Just A Friend To You :)
- Charlie

——————

It was just like any other day;
Wake up, go to school, do the work, and go home.
But today felt different.

I got up out of bed, slugging myself toward my closet where i took out my uniform and pulled it on before leaving my room.
stifling a yawn, i head downstairs to the kitchen where i find my younger brother making breakfast.
"Morning bro, hungry?" he asked, and i nod as i rub the sleep from my eyes.

"well i made pancakes, buddy. eat enough and they should keep you full till lunch." he beamed at me from where he stood at the stove, placing perfectly cooked pancakes on a stack and bringing them to the table i found myself slumped in a chair at.
my eyes were locked on the syrup he so generously poured over the top, drizzling down the sides and soaking the pancakes with sugar. just the way i like them. i inhale deeply, taking in the smell of the delicious meal he prepared.

"thanks boris, you've always made the best pancakes," i compliment as i take a large forkful into my mouth.
my eyes almost roll to the back of my head from how good it tastes, and i can't help but scarf down the rest of the stack.

the sugar rush from the syrup makes the day a little less drowsy, and i shouldn't have to worry about falling asleep during class again today.

boris let out a small laugh, "Thank you, now eat up, we gotta make sure we make it to the bus."
pfft. silly boris, as if he'd have to worry about me not eating all the pancakes.

he makes me breakfast almost every morning. for his age he's so responsible, and he takes care of me more than i do him, even though I'M the big brother here...

—— to the bus ——

It was raining quite a lot while we walked to the bus stop together. my little red umbrella was too small to protect both me and boris, so he insisted in walking in the rain.

the bus turned the corner just as we had arrived to the stop, right in time to get on. like usual, the bus ride was boring. i seat myself at the front of the bus and read my fantasy novels while boris is up the back catching up on conversation with his sporty friends.

after about 10 minutes, the bus finally arrives to the school grounds. i pulled my umbrella open as i stepped off, some droplets caught inside dripping onto my forehead.

entering the school gates, it's inevitable that i get pushed and shoved around on the way to my locker, but with my size i'm barely noticeable among all the taller students, whether it's intentional or otherwise.
i was used to it by now, so i've learned to ignore it most days. some times the football team does it on purpose just to push my buttons and get a reaction from me.

i grabbed my books from my locker, closing and locking the metal door with a sigh, but the irritation quickly turned to confusion as my attention was directed toward a new figure making their way through the hallway.

people parted left and right, equally as curious. girls and even some boys whispered their swoons to each other, while the rest turned up their noses and pretended not to care. the stranger seemed very uninterested in the commotion happening around him, including the hoard of girls that trailed behind him as he passed.

i kept a trained eye on him as he strode past me - his walk filled with swagger and confidence despite it obviously being his first day here. i've never seen this guy before...

he was tall with large, broad shoulders, and what seemed like silky blonde, uh... hair? not to mention the surprise i felt when i noticed he had... a teacup for a head?! wow, and i thought i had seen it all.

as he passed his gaze landed on me for what must've only been a second, but it sent a shiver down my spine. he has the deepest ruby red, and the most intimidating stare.

it was like seeing a burning building; i couldn't quite get myself to look away. his locker was on the furthest end of the hall.
the girls and boys that had followed made their distance after he shooed them out of his space.

he looked super aggravated, and the grimace never seemed to leave his face since the girls and boys first started sticking their noses in his bubble like curious dogs to a new squeaky toy.

he closed his locker and quickly left the hall, presumably heading to class. no doubt being followed by the hoard until he was completely out of their sight. i sort of feel bad for him, but at least the attention he's getting isn't negative like mine.

but that guy sure has made a first impression for himself.
