"You look beautiful." Barry said, planting a kiss on his wife's cheek.

"Wally's friends are coming over tonight." She said, gladly accepting the kiss and worked at rinsing and drying a glass jug.

"Was that tonight?" He asked. "I thought it was Thursday?"

"Nope, Tuesday."

"Hmm." He sat in a kitchen chair next to his wife as Iris prepared another pitcher of lemonade. "Want me to pick something up?"

"We'll I'm ordering pizza for them later, but you can run out and get them some drinks?"

"But you're already making lemonade?"

"Babe, We're having guests! I want to make them comfortable!" She argued. They wanted to be good parents to their nephew.

"Don't worry about impressing the team, they're six teenagers!"

"They're Wally's friends!" Iris begged. She really liked Dick and was sure Wally's other friends could not disappoint. "Here, I'll make a list"

Barry watched his wife scribble a little grocery list for him. "The team doesn't have high standards by the way, pizza is more than enough."

"Here." Iris passed him the note. "You know them better, get things you think they'll like— ooh! Get them ice cream or popsicles Too, for dessert!"

"Alright then." Barry smiled at his wife's eagerness to over-treat and spoil their guests. "I'll back in a minute." He pecked Iris on the lips and hurried out.

"So, what are everyone's names?" Iris asked eagerly, inviting the kids to sit down. "I won't use them in the interview clip, I just wanna know."

"Hey auntie Iris." Wally claimed a spot on the livingroom carpet. "This is Artemis, M'gann, Conner, Kaldur, and— well you know Rob."

"Mmhm." She sat down with a glass of water and assessed the teenagers:  they seemed like sweethearts, but she could see why they may need a PR person. "So, what we're going to do, is that we'll run over the questions a few times, practice your answers, and then do a few takes, find one we like, and we can do any extra recording we need after the pizza arrives."

"OOoh Pretzels!" Wally remarked, grabbing a bowl off the table. 

"We have soda and lemonade too, if you want to get drinks for your friends."

"Oh yeah, totally!" Wally stood and hurried off to the kitchen.

"Okay, our first question is: 'are you gay', so like, what are your sexual orientations?"

Artemis shoved a handful of pretzels in her mouth. "I'm a homo. He's a homo." She pointed at Aqualad. "Your nephew's a homo... Rob's bi, Con-Supey's ace, Megs' pan." She swallowed hard. "WALLY! Get me a soda!"

Yep. They were going to need some coaching.

"Uhm, okay. We'll come back to that..." Iris made a quick note. "You should maybe be less upfront incase you regret sharing this when you're older."

"Hah. Fuck dat." Artemis replied, taking a glass from Wally. "Thinkyou boo."

Aqualad gave her eyes, clearly trying to tell the archer to shut up and stop being rude to their host. Iris didn't care about it, though. Kids have attitude, kids say things they think are 'cool' and 'edgy'. 

Iris, unlike most people, knew that these were children she was talking to. 

"Uh— okay, uhm, question two." She read off her notes. "Do the justice league know you're queer?"

Dick let out a little scoff. "They do now!"

"We've come out to some of the Justice League, but we aren't comfortable coming out to the entire league." Aqualad was trying his best to be clear and honest and polite, Iris appreciated the attempt, but they's have to workshop it if they didn't want the Justice League being bombarded about why they aren't creating safe spaces for their children.

"That's a start... uh. Question three— that one we'll work on when Flash is available... question four is just 'will the sidekickes be actively supporting the LGBT community?'." 

"It's LGBTQIA+" Conner corrected, he didn't get why it was so hard for people to remember the last part.

"Yes we're actively supporting the Community!" Miss martian exclaimed. "We have a Lesbian, Gay, Bi(s), trans, queer, intersex, Ace, and more in just this group!"

That was impressive, Iris had to admit. What was it about the justice league that they seemed to seek out the most diverse kids they could to be their sidekicks?

What was it that drew Superheroes to homosexuals like moths to a flame?

"Uh, boys, you maybe shouldn't be cuddling while we record." Barry teased, causing Wally and Dick shoot to opposite sides of the couch, blushing. Did they really think they were slick?

"Okay, everyone have your answers prepared? Don't loose them." Iris warned, Barry gave her a hard time all through dinner because she practically had to script the whole interaction. In her defence, these kids needed all the help they could get!

Every rehearsal they did included at least two-or-three instances of kids saying things that would NOT fly on live news or online articles.

"Can we record these quickly? We need to get home to feed Conner's wolf." M'gann asked.

"As soon as we get a good take." Iris promised. "I don't want you staying out late, after we're done, wally and Barry can walk you back to those tubes you use for transit."

Dick leaned over, elbowing his boyfriend. "Selina, Dinah, Lois, Iris..."

"What's your point?"

"Clearly the JL has something for ladies who can and will take over your life."

"Shut up, man."
