"If you fuck up the next task. I'll throw you in the lake. and Tim and Dick will help me!" Jason warned his oldest brother, having cornered him after morning classes. "Its bad enough to have everyone in fifth year talking about MY BROTHER being in the tournament, but if you fail..."

Damian rolled his eyes. Everyone was so involved the the school's championship, it was embarrassing. He was solidly second place right now, not losing or winning, just... existing, because what else do you do when called into a life threatening tournament?

Sure, he wanted to win, he really wanted to win, but he wasn't going to let anyone know. He wanted to win this looking effortless. He was no tryhard, even when he was trying hard.

"By talking about this, you're taking away time that I could be using to figure for what second task is." Damian growled.

"I don't care what it is, just win!"

Damian rolled his eyes and pushed past his brother and towards the Great Hall. He was glad that the houses (for the most part) stuck to their own tables, because it meant that he usually didn't have his brothers pestering him over lunch.

Unfortunately he was wrong today.

"Dami! Damian!" His littlest brother bounced over to them in excitement. "I heard Jason- (Jason C in Slytherin, Not JASON Jason) Say that he heard that the next task-"

Damian put his hand up to shut up his brother. He didn't wanna hear anything else about this stupid tournament from his family. "Richard, trust me, no one knows what the next task is. It's all rumors."

"Okay..." Dick admitted, following him across the room, chatting. Jason deserted them, rolling his eyes. "Wait, Dami- so I just had potions, so we were supposed to be-"

"Stop." Damian stopped the two. "You've missed your tables." He pointed out.

"Oh. Okay. See you later!" Dick bounced off to the Hufflepuff table for lunch. God, the thirteen year old overflowed with energy.

Jason was just internally complaining about this, when someone cut him off on the way to Gryffindor table. "Watch it!" He stopped on a dime, kicking his leg out in front to steady himself.

His foot collided with the redhead's shin. "Ah-oww." He jumped back, grabbing his leg. "Sorry, didn't see you there." Jason recognized the younger student, he was one of Dick's friends, in... forth year maybe? before he could ponder it any more, the boy spoke again. "Hey- You're Dick's brother right? Tim?"

"Jason." He spat, impatient. He always got 'you're Damian's brother?'  and 'you're Tim's brother, right?' but now people were approaching him to talk about Dick too? He hated having siblings.

"Right, Jason. I know your little Brother."

"I got that." Jason said. The redhead grew awkward, standing at his side. "Are we finished? I want to get lunch."

"Oh, right." The redhead jumped back a little. "So, you know how they've opened the yule ball to all years over second this year..."

"No." Jason said. "I'd say that you're not my type, but the truth is: I don't know or like you at all."

"Nonono! I meant to say that I was thinking of asking your brother. Dick, that is."

Jason gave him a look. "Okay..."

The redhead huffed a little, looking flustered, he followed Jason to his place at the table. "I just- do you have any advice? I've never done this before, and you're brother is not an starting place..."

Jason actually snorted. "Dick? Firstly: He's thirteen, secondly: he's a Hufflepuff, and thirdly: you're a redhead. You're practically all the way there!"

"Really?" The kid asked excitedly.

"Yeah, he has a huge thing for Redheads. Don't know where on earth he gets that from-"

"JAY!" They looked up. Roy was waving to Jason as he entered the hall.

Jason scoffed at the bad timing. "Roy, fuck off, I'm trying to prove a point!" He shouted, earning a few withering glares from passing professors. Jason didn't care. The facilty had given up on taming him in second year. "Anyways. Just ask him. He'll be following you around like a lost dog for the rest of the day."

The boy grinned from the encouragement. "Thanks! I'll go do that! Oh- I'm Wally by the way."

"I don't really care." Jason admitted.

"Okay." Wally stood up and half-jogged across to the Hufflepuff table. He spent a few seconds scanning the crowds, and eventually found the boy. He hurried over. "Hey Dick!"

Dick looked up and smiled. "Wally!" He swung his leg over the bench and stood, hurrying over to his friend. "I haven't seen you in so long! They need to let different houses- and years- interact more! I've been so lonely!"

"Hey, Dick, can we talk outside quickly?" Wally asked timidly.

"Uh, sure." Dick turned to the next table. "Babs?"

After a few calls, the Ravenclaw girl whipped around. "Will you stop that?"

"Can you watch my plate for a few minutes?"

"No." She turned back to her friends."

"It'll be fine." Dick decided, and lead the way from the Great hall. "So what is it? Cause I don't think I can get you more answers... Tim told dad, and the letter he sent was.. scalding."

"A howler?" Wally asked anxiously. Personally, he'd told his head of house that any letters from his parents should be immediately turned away at all costs.

"Yeah, I had to walk almost as far as the woods before opening it. and apparently you could still hear it from inside." He laughed anxiously. "But hey, He should have low expectations considering what the others have done. Remember when the greenhouse burnt down? Jason was growing 'forbidden flora' in there and had to cover his tracks!" He laughed. 'Forbidden flora' was their code for marijuana.

"Yeah, uh, Dick..."

"What?" Dick asked, getting over his giggles.

"So, uh..." Wally felt all the confidence from Jason's peptalk drain from his body. "So it's the end of November and..."

"I don't thing any of my flannels will fit you." Dick replied.

"No, I mean... it's almost Christmas, and... you know..." He shrugged.

"Yeah you can stay with us! It's a huge Manor! I bet I could smuggle you in, and no one would find you the whole holiday! I'll just write and tell dad. He make's us write him every week, it's exhausting-"

"Dick. Do you want to go to the yule ball with me?" Wally asked quickly.

The two stood there for a second. Dick gave a light laugh. "Wow, I really should have just shut up and let you say your thing, huh?" He reached out, and gently touched Wally's hand. "Uh, yeah. Let's go together."

Wally let out a huge sigh, thanking the lord. "Thank you! I don't really have anything to wear, not like you, but I'll wear a clean shirt. and... and we'll have fun."

Dick nodded, blushing a little from excitement. "I'll ask Jay if we can borrow some of his clothes. Or I'll write to dad or something." He squeezed Wally's hand a little. "We'll make it work."

"Yeah." Wally laughed a little, his face also feeling uncomfortably warm. "I guess we will."

-This went in a lot of different directions lol-
