yuugo ↬ cake
" How the fuck am I supposed to like you if I don't like your eyebrows?"
" I'm sorry I don't color in my eyebrows like a fucking 4 year old. "
" Listen here, this project is not going to get finished by itself so you might as well do something useful for once! "
" Oh, fuck off. "
Bickering around the whole day, all (Y/N) and Yuugo got so far was the title.
Romeo and Juliet.
The stupid project they were supposed to work on for two weeks they decided to do the day before.
" Hey, you're the one who asked for a project. You do it." Yuugo snarled and threw himself on the floor, grabbing a nearby marker.
" Um, excuse you? I didn't think the teacher would pair me up with you." the girl replied as she grabbed the marker from Yuugo's hand and placed it next to her.
" I'm going to do the project and you... Go to the kitchen, my mom left some cake. I don't know. Entertain yourself. I can't stand being in the same room with you. " (Y/N) groaned in annoyance and looked at the boy who raised an eyebrow.
" Cake? Why didn't you say so... " he got up and kicked the marker under the bed on purpose.
" You bastard! "
Rummaging through her fridge, Yuugo searched for cake. After some time he found one small piece on a plate and pulled it out. It was a small piece and he wondered if he should leave (Y/N) some. Piece after piece he ate everything and gasped as he realized. What if she wanted some?
Back in her bedroom, (Y/N) was scrolling through wikipedia in hopes of finding some useful information. She has already drawn some important parts and what was left was the text.
Meanwhile Yuugo was at the kitchen panicking that he ate the whole piece. What if she wanted some? He sat down and rubbed his chin. What if he could make a cake. Yeah, that's a bad idea.
So, Yuugo decided to do it.
He carefully opened the drawers, searching for the ingredients. He'd make a simple cake and see if there were any materials for the frosting. Taking the flour, he turned around to grab a bowl. Yuugo swirled around the kitchen, grabbing the needed materials, but then he abruptly stopped. Aren't they... enemies? What the hell is he doing? Baking her a cake?
Yuugo placed the bowl on the counter and sighed. Maybe he shouldn't do that. But then again. He should probably ask her. Yes, he should. As he was about to walk out of the room he slipped on some butter that fell on the floor and slammed his head on the door.
" Yuugo? Are you dead yet?"
" Shut up I slipped." he growled in pain and rubbed his forehead. As he was about to leave he noticed the calendar that hung on the door. The today's date was marked with words...
" (Y/N) 's birthday".
For fucks sake he ate the last of her birthday cake. But.. why didn't she tell him...? That it's her birthday... then maybe he'd stop teasing her. How could he forget? Yuugo now felt bad. He should totally bake her a cake. Returning to his workspace, Yuugo was now filled with determination. He'd make that damn cake and apologize.
(Y/N) was being suspicious of Yuugo's intentions but nevertheless she kept her attention on the project. Now come to think about it, she didn't really know why Yuugo hated her so much. Or why she was being mean to him. Since they were kids they always teased each other. And more important, how can that bastard forget her birthday?
She sighed and rubbed her temples. The faster she finishes that, the faster she'll go to sleep. It was almost 10pm and she hasn't finished it yet. Averting her attention back to the project, (Y/N) got lost in her own thoughts.
" Okay so, flour, sugar, chocolate, milk and... Oh, yes, and butter!" Yuugo thought to himself as he was combining the ingredients. He never really disliked her. I mean she could be really nice some days and really mean the next one. But today was the worst one yet. Maybe.. maybe because he fucking forgot her birthday. Yuugo sighed again and mentally facepalmed.
(Y/N) got up to go to the toilet. On her way out she bumped in Yuugo who was secretly trying to go to the bathroom to grab some cleaning supplies to clean his mess.
" Move."
" On my way."
" Wait... is that flour on your face?"
" What? No."
" Yuugo what are you doing?" the girl sighed.
" Uh. That's baby powder. My face was, uh, kinda itchy so I..."
" You fucking put baby powder on your face?"
" Uh, well you see.."
" Look, I don't care. I'm going to finish the project, now If you could excuse me. " she sighed again, this time louder and left.
Yuugo returned to the kitchen in a hurry and started washing the dishes. Damn what a mess.
Later on, the cake was finished and he was pretty happy about it. With some sprinkles he found and the frosting he made he was pretty confident that this could help them set their differences aside. Using sprinkles, he wrote something on the cake. Pretty pleased with his work, Yuugo left the room to go fetch her.
He slowly opened the door.
" Hey, (Y/N)." he called out but no response. He narrowed his eyebrows and entered the room. The first thing he saw was her sleeping figure on the floor with marker in her hand. Yuugo chuckled to himself and sat down next to the girl.
" You know, I never intended to hurt you in any way. I don't know why was I being so mean when it apparently hurt you so much. Sorry for forgetting your birthday. Gosh, I can't forgive myself." he whispered and looked at the girl. She was sleeping soundly, her hair covering her tired face.
" Even with that sleepy face I find you very stunning. I... " he stopped.
" I... I've come to realize that I love you. I'm sorry for being such an idiot. No guy should treat a girl like shit. I wish I could make it up to you." he rubbed his temples and got up to bring the blanket. Covering both his and her body, the pair fell asleep.
Early in the morning, (Y/N) woke up and found herself on the floor with a blanket over her. Did she fall asleep? Mentally slapping herself she tried to recall the last night's events. Okay so, she worked on her project, that dumb fuck Yuugo forgot her birthday and had the audacity to mock her. Then that awkward encounter in the hall, Yuugo confessing his love... Wait.
Yuugo confessed?
Yeah, no way. He'd never reciprocate her feelings. She got up and went to the kitchen. Did Yuugo leave already?
" Yuugo?" she called out. But no response.
Laying on the table was a poorly made cake with words made of sprinkles that said...
" Sorry for forgetting your birthday,
Love, Yuugo".
