Perfectly curved waves crashed on the sandy shore. Rolling colors of turquoise under the gray sky. I looked at my friend, Kareme, as she walked into the water with her swimsuit on. Her hair, long and brown, cascaded down her back as her electric blue eyes stared off into the water.
"Aren't you coming?" she asked me.
I looked down at my black shorts and David Bowe crop top I had on. I can't go swimming in this, I thought. My eyes came back up to see Kareme already far out into the water. The clouds overhead started to swirl and darken. Lightening flashed in the sky followed by a loud clash. Kareme swam back to shore, now dressed in dry clothes.
"We need to get out of here," I told her. "Winter is coming and we can't be stuck in this storm."
Kareme nodded in agreement. She followed me away from the beach while the wind began to pick up. A small and old barn sat on top of a hill that we climbed to. It was snowing at that point, but we were able to stay dry and warm inside of the barn.
There was a loft that we climbed up to using boxes that were set around. It was cozier up there so we decided to go to sleep.
It didn't take long before there was a creaking noise as the barn door opened. An old man entered his barn and looked around, suspicious that someone was hiding there. Kareme and I jumped down from the loft, beginning to apologize.
"Get out of my barn!" The man yelled at us. "I'm calling the police."
"JamJam, we can't go to prison," Kareme tugged on my sleeve and whispered.
"We won't," I reassured her.
Without hesitating, I bolted out of the door while Kareme followed me out.
We had been away from home for months, but we decided it was finally time to return. Our clothes were dirty and torn when we finally arrived. Kareme walked me to my house before separating and leaving to go to hers.
I opened the door to see my parents and a couple of their friends over. My dad was wearing black leggings and an oversized green sweatshirt. His expression showed his excitement as he came up to me.
"JamJam, we're leaving in a few minutes to go to the festival."
I cocked my head to the side. "What festival?"
"It's a festival where you can't wear buttons." My dad pat my shoulder and walked out of the house, the others following him.
At first, I planned on going with them, but as I went up to my room I got distracted by my computer. I casually scrolled through all my old pictures and videos.
"What are you doing?" An old friend of mine, Krane, asked as he walked up behind me, towering above me with his six foot height. He ran a hand through his dirty blond hair.
"I found a prank video you took of me." I laughed and hit the play button.
On the screen, it showed me walking into my bathroom. Krane suddenly opened the shower curtain to reveal him standing there, fully clothed thank goodness.
He proceeded to pee his pants while standing in the shower.
The shock froze me for a minute, but I covered my eyes and ran to my closet from the strange event.
The video ended with Krane cracking up. I looked at him while he smiled at the memories of the video.
"Good times, right?" he asked me while picking up my phone. Krane pushed the button as the screen lit up in front of his eyes. He analyzed my lock screen that had a picture of a skeleton on it. "Did you know that's a mascot for an anime?" he asked, matter-of-factly.
"Shh, no it's not," I shushed him, taking my phone away.
"On a scale from one to ten," Krane started, "how much of a prankster is your skeleton boyfriend?"
"Seven, obviously." I chuckled. "Because I love him."
(wtf kind of dream was this???)
