❝ I know who you are. It's not every day Katniss Everdeen appears in your apartment. Are you lost or does it have anything to do with the screaming mob outside? ❞
SUMMARY:
Jaxon Lorvey was every inch a citizen of the Capitol. He'd been there since birth, he was a part of hierarchy no matter how much he reasoned with himself. With a sense of style no one who knew him could deny, Jaxon loved his life of luxury and privilege. He fit in more than he would have liked, despite the small feeling of discomfort he had locked away deep inside of him. Jaxon couldn't imagine life any other way than it was.
But when the rebels brought down the Capital and destroyed everything he had ever known, Jaxon found himself adrift in sea with no way out of the cage he was trapped in. Until one of the rebels who had ruined his life appeared in his apartment, looking lost and in need of some help.
And Jaxon found himself a little more ready to be stuck in his little boat and adrift in the sea, playing the strange game of love and loss with the one person who could pierce the outer shell and who made him feel whole again.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
- This is a pretty slow burn, Katniss is hesitant to trust Jaxon because he's Capitol and Jaxon is hesitant to trust Katniss because she's District.
- I'd start in the middle of Mockingjay, maybe having a chapter or two about his old life, then about what he does when the Capitol is stormed, and then the rest of the story afterwards.
- Basically Katniss is in the Capitol to help with some sort of government thing, and she meets this screaming mob and so she runs into the nearest building and choose a random apartment - which happens to be Jaxon's - to escape. He's super confused at first, but he helps her and they have sort of a strange friendship going on. Then when she comes next time, she visits again or they bump into each other.... and it starts.
- Jaxon didn't really have an easy childhood, despite living in the Capitol, and it's left "invisible scars" on him that Katniss helps heal.
- It's a little dark? Jaxon lost his parents in the bomb, and so he and Katniss kind of get over their grief together.
