Chapter 2

Rose Fields

I lead him out into the corridor and tried to block out the loud thumping of my rapid heartbeat. I was actually quite excited at the thought of getting to spend time with Yoongi, despite having moments ago wished to forget him.

"So is your name really Sunshine?" Yoongi asked me casually, as we walked side by side.

My eyes widened and I looked up at him curiously. I hadn't expected Mr. Ice Cold to talk to me at all, but I wasn't complaining.

I could listen to his voice all day

"No..." I replied awkwardly, "My name's Cerise."

"And your surname?"

"Why would you like to know that?"

"In Korea we usually tell people our full names."

"Oh sorry, I didn't know. My name is Cerise Sonnenstein." I said, adding one of my bright smiles that I was famous for.

He just nodded and looked away again, his face as neutral and cold as always.

"So where would you like to go first?" I asked him politely.

"I want to know where the dorm rooms are, so I can put my luggage inside."

"Do you know what wing your room is in?"

"The north wing."

I started laughing. "That's the worst wing you could live in, if I were you, I'd ask for a room change." I suggested.

He raised an eyebrow. "Why?"

"There's no sun there because it's on the north side. That place is dark and gloomy most of the time, which is why almost nobody lives in the north wing."

He shrugged. "I like being alone, and I like the dark. It's a win win situation, so I don't see the problem."

I swallowed.

He likes being alone?
He wants to live in the depressing north wing?
I guess he just isn't that social

"It's your choice I guess. I'll take you there."

As I steered us towards the north wing, I caught myself glancing at him again and again. Whenever we passed the high arched windows of the hallways, the sunlight illuminated his face and gave his hair and skin a pristine glow. He looked so otherworldly, like a god bathing in sunlight.

His cat eyes swayed in my direction, and suddenly I was the one being studied. I turned away immediately and stared straight ahead, trying not to blush when I felt his pupils burn into me.

"So what brings you to Rosewood Academy?"

"My mother."

"Oh, did she make you go abroad?" I inquired.

"No."

"Then why are you here?"

"Because of something she said."

"What did she say?"

He let out an annoyed huff, his eyes narrowing as he stopped to look down at me. "You ask alot of questions, Cerise."

He said my name...

I smiled. "That's how I am, inquisitive and hard headed. Care to give me an answer, Yoongi?"

"Fine, if it will make you shut up."

Why is he so rude?

"She told me that to find true happiness, I should search for the sun and that I'd find it in a field of roses."

I giggled. "That sounds poetic, but the sun is everywh–"

"I found out about this town called Springfield, one of the sunniest places in your country. The amount of daylight here is unreal. And coincidentially there is a boarding school in this town, that lies on top of a hill surrounded by woods and fields of roses."

I smiled. "Aren't you taking your mother a little too seriously? To find the sun you must just look up into the sky."

His face darkened. "Do I look truly happy to you yet?"

"Maybe your mom is wron–"

"She's always been right. I trust her wholeheartedly."

I sighed and just accepted his answer. Yes, Min Yoongi was different. But who was insane enough to move to another country, just to look for the sun in a field of roses? The sun was everywhere. I couldn't believe I had thought he was intelligent.

"Umm, I thought you liked the dark. Isn't it a little odd for you to be chasing the sun?" I said humorously.

He shrugged.

"Sometimes you need to be open for change if you want to find happiness. The path to happiness is often laced with accepting differences and being adaptable. I think I can handle a little sunlight."

"So you never go in the sun? Is that why you're so pale?"

Yoongi snorted and I thought I could see a slight little grin play around his lips again.

"Maybe."

"If you're doing this much for happiness, you must have been pretty unhappy in Korea."

He groaned. "If you want to ask a question about that too, then you can kindly fuck off."

I pouted, there he goes, being rude again. At this point If he were another person I would have already left his side, but I couldn't because he was Min Yoongi. He could call me the meanest things in the world and I'd surely be unhappy, but I knew I would never be able to hate him.

I was still too intrigued and bedazzled by him. Yoongi was like a treasure chest of mystery and secrets, and I wanted to know every single one of the secrets, that were hidden behind those beautiful eyes.

I noticed how the hallway had darkened and that it was now empty save for us. There was a ghostly silence, except for our footsteps that thumped on the cold stone floor.

"Welcome to your lonely and dark paradise, also known as the north wing." I said jokingly, "What's your room number?"

"213."

I lead him to his door, which was a tall one made of ancient oak, with a golden plate that read "213".

"Here it is Yoongi, with a nice and shadowy view of the rose fields where you will find your happiness. I hope you'll find it quickly, so you can stop being so cold. Enjoy your stay in our lovely hotel."

He grunted. "Attending school everyday isn't my definition of a lovely hotel."

I raised an eyebrow. "I thought you were intelligent?"

"So? Does that mean I have to like school?"

"Why don't you?"

"Your questions are getting on my nerves."

I gave him my most challenging look, but I was pretty sure I just looked like a harmless little bean. He was treating me like an annoying child, and I did not like it.

"Let me guess, you love discussing with the teachers, and then they get annoyed by all your talking and throw you out?"

He raised an eyebrow. "Did I talk that much in class today?"

"Yeah, I was really surprised! You gave Miss Lynn a pretty hard time, she was short of a mental breakdown." I started laughing as the scenes replayed in my head.

Yoongi just remained silent and started walking away from his room and in direction of the main hall.

"Aww cmon Yoongi, why do you never laugh?"

"You're not funny."

I frowned. "Ouch."

"You're welcome."

I sped up and ran after him. I continued to show him as much of the academy as I could, leading him from the dining hall, to the swimming pool and the gardens outside the grand building. I didn't have enough time to show him the rest, as we had to return to class because break time was over.

Back inside, I sat down and stared outside the window and into the sunny rose fields that raked themselves around the green hill.

This whole time I hadn't been able to shake this weird feeling I had about Yoongi. I felt like I had seen him before somewhere, but I just couldn't remember. At the beginning I hadn't noticed it, only later on when I had shown him the academy.

Something about him was just so familiar. It made me wonder...

Have we met before?
