Chapter 9

Akito put the ship on cruise and set it to go back home on its own. He walked away from the controller room and decided to find Kazuki. He was starting to get worried about him and went looking in all the rooms. It took him a while until he came to this one examination room that looked a lot like a Doctor's office. He saw Kazuki passed out on the floor with his sword dropped beside him. This filled Akito's being with fear and he quickly rushed over to him and shook him.

"Komatsuzaki! Get a hold of yourself!"

Akito pulled back his hands and noticed that they were now blood stained. Akito was overcome with shock and fear. He clenched his hands into a fist and put them on the side of his head.

"This is bad! What should I do? What should I do?"

Kazuki let out a grunt and then opened his eyes. Akito let out a sigh of relief and helped him sit up.

"Thank goodness! You've snapped out of it."

Kazuki nodded in agreement and slid himself to the wall where he could rest his body against it. He held his bleeding abdomen and took in some deep breaths to hold onto his life which only made the pain sharper. He leaned his head against the wall and let out a few grunts. Akito rushed to him to try to do what he can to help him.

"I'm going to take a look at it and then I will stop the bleeding."

"Ah," Kazuki forced between his heavy breathing with a very raspy voice. "Please do."

Akito then removed the blood stained keikogi shirt from Kazuki. The material brushed against the wound, causing more pain to shoot through Kazuki's entire being. Kazuki clenched his teeth together to avoid screaming out in pain. Akito had the shirt removed and couldn't see the wound clearly so he rushed to the sink and ran some cold water under a hand towel. He cleaned the wound and it revealed just how deep it was. If the cut had been any wider, Akito would have been able to see Kazuki's internal organs.

He rushed back to the medicine cabinet and brought out some gauze to bandage up the wound. He wrapped it around Kazuki as carefully as he could but, even the gauze wasn't enough. It provided the pressure needed to help stop the bleeding but the cut was so deep that it just bled through quickly.

Akito rushed back to the medicine cabinet to try to find something that would stop the bleeding. He came across this green potion with a hospital symbol on the bottle. He grabbed it and went back over to Kazuki.

"What is this stuff," Akito asked. "Would this help at all?"

When Kazuki saw it, he breathed a sigh of relief and took it from Akito.

"That is District 2 Master's healing potion. We're all required to carry one on us. I actually thought that I forgot to bring one."

He took off the lid and began drinking the potion, not leaving a single drop in it. He then grabbed his sword, proceeded to get up and he almost fell but was caught by Akito.

"Sir! You really shouldn't try to move!"

"Akito. I need you to help me out of here. I need to rest for a little while."

"Yes, sir!"

Akito had Kazuki put his arm around his neck, supporting all of Kazuki's body weight which really made it hard for Akito. He helped him to the next room over and helped him into the bed.

"Are you going to be alright," Akito asked.

"I just need to rest a little while. I have to check on Lia when I get my strength back."

"She'll wake up soon! You did defeat that Shinigami!"

"Yeah. I now have to heal her body from that cancer." Kazuki closed his eyes. "I will save her."

Akito left the room to let Kazuki rest and walked back over to the room where Lia was. He went over to her bedside and he noticed how beautiful Lia really was.

"Miss Lia," he spoke softly to her. "I could never understand why he was so persistent on saving you but, I think I know why now. All this trouble for one human. I know it had to be you. Any other human would have been too easy."

He noticed the necklace she was wearing had a simple amethyst gemstone with a delicate gold chain.

"Purple!"

He had a flashback of when they were going to retrieve Lia from the hospital.

I am a protective warrior. Once you reach the masters level in your training. You're powerful enough to chance someone's fate. I gave Lia my districts gemstone. That gemstone will have her soul locked inside her body for at least 24 hours.

"He's..." Akito finally came to the realization about who Kazuki really was. "Master Kazuki Komatsuzaki of District 1. How couldn't I have realized it!"

"Realized what?" Came a voice behind him.

Akito turned around to reveal Kazuki walking around as if he were in perfect condition.

"Sir! Should you be walking around?"

Kazuki nodded. "I'm fine now." He took a seat in the chair right beside and began feeling Lia's abdomen area for lumps. He found one big lump on her left side and a few other small lumps in her stomach area. "Akito, I would like you to feel her right about here."

"Sure." Akito felt the big lump on Lia's left side and quickly pulled back. "What the heck is that?"

"Lia has lost her life to something called cancer. I'm going to change her fate by healing her body."

Kazuki put his hands above Lia and a purple light formed around her.

"Whoa," Akito exclaimed. "What's that?"

"This is a special technique called spiritual healing. It is able to heal any wound or in this case, a sickness within a matter of minutes. It can sense when someone is fully healed."

Akito looked down at Kazuki's blood-stained gauze. "Hey, let me change those bandages."

"Sure, go ahead."

Akito ran over to the medicine cabinet again and grabbed the gauze to change Kazuki's bandages. He removed them from him and he noticed the deep cut has now stopped bleeding.

"How did it...?"

"I can naturally heal faster but I also took that healing potion too, so that also speeds thing up."

Akito was in disbelief of what he was hearing. "But ten minutes ago, you were badly hurt and now you're alright?"

"Yeah."

Akito put on the new bandages on Kazuki and they both observed the transformation Lia's body was going through with the spiritual healing. Her skin colour was slowly coming back from a sick looking pale colour to her healthy looking olive skin tone. They both could see cancer finally disappearing from her body. This brought a smile to Kazuki. He was amazed that someone who has recently died is being brought back to life.

The light around Lia eventually disappeared. Lia's heart started to beat again and her lung began to fill with air. Kazuki and Akito got ready for her to wake up, but she didn't open her eyes.

"Why isn't she waking up," Akito asked.

"Maybe this disease is a lot tougher than we think. It took over her body a few hours ago and she was most likely living with it for many years. She probably just has to get her strength back." Kazuki looked out the window to see their home planet in the distance. "I'll take her to the hospital where she will recover."

Akito noticed that home was right up ahead. "Sunshine Islands! We're almost home!"

Akito ran over to the window to take in the view of their home planet in the distance.

"Akito," Kazuki cut in. "Can you drop us off at the hospital in District 1?"

"I can do that."

Akito left the room to go land the spaceship. The dark space sky disappeared to bright sunlight with a large city below the ship. Kazuki lifted Lia off the bed and headed over to the control room.

"Akito, thank you for making this journey possible."

"It's been fun. Thank you so much for teaching me how to use the human disguise."

Kazuki nodded his head and gave Akito a smile. He started heading towards the tube that would let Kazuki down easily.

"Wait, Master Komatsuzaki!" Kazuki turned around with slight shock to hear Akito call him Master. "Let's meet up again sometime."

"Yeah. The next time we meet, you'll be in school. Let's make that a promise, alright."

"It's a promise then."

Kazuki closed the door to the glass tube and slowly floated down to the surface with Lia in his arms. He went into the hospital and got Lia checked into a room once again. The doctor's checked on her but they weren't trained in healing people from sicknesses. They were used to treating injuries. The best they could do was hook her up to a heart monitor, watch over her and wait for her to possibly wake up.

"I'm sorry Lia. After all that you went through, you end up back in the same place. I should have healed you sooner."

"My! My!" A mysterious yet creepy voice came from the doorway. "The District 1 Master has finally returned."

Kazuki turned around to reveal a tall slim man with blue hair that had strands of his bangs go past his eyes, with the back slightly longer. His eyes were blue like the ocean but the man himself gave off a creepy impression.

"Kaito. What brings you here?"

Kaito just smiled and walked over to Lia's bedside. "My! What a beauty you found here. What is she doing sleeping?"

"She had an illness from that world called cancer and now she won't wake up."

"Oohhh," he said as he turned his head slightly towards Kazuki. "You didn't let her die now did you?"

"She's fine now."

"You look pretty beat up yourself. You didn't let her die just so you could go fight a Shinigami now did you?"

Kazuki narrowed his eyes at Kaito. "What do you mean?"

"That girl will never wake up if you've already let her die."

Kazuki's heart sank when he heard that. All that effort he went through to save this girl, all went to waste.

"It's only natural that one cannot be brought back from the dead," Kaito explained. "The purpose of fighting a Shinigami is to do so before that person dies. I would know that small detail for killing the most Shinigami out of everyone here."

Kaito's smile grew the moment he mentioned the world kill. It was true though. Master Kaito Matsumura of District 2 has killed the most Shinigami, not to save anyone but because he takes pleasure in killing Shinigami. The man himself is very creepy that it could even make a Shinigami's skin crawl. Not only that, he plays with his prey until it is time to end their life.

"I wouldn't be so sure about that," Kazuki argued.

"Oh?"

"I defeated that Shinigami and healed her body from that cancer. Her heart has started to beat and she's now breathing again. Don't try to tell me that girl is already dead."

Kaito reached into his shirt and grabbed a blue potion.

"That girl will remain in a comatose state for all of eternity or we could use this."

Kazuki looked at the small bottle and wondered what it was. He thought it was maybe another form of the healing potion.

"What is that?"

"I haven't exactly come up with a name for this yet. You can call it the water of life or simply a transformation potion. This could simply save her life. What do you say? Shall we give it a try?"

Kazuki looked at Lia who might never wake up if he refuses. He believed that she would wake up eventually but his mind told him that what this man was saying was true. She was going to be stuck in a coma forever. He didn't bring her back for that, he promised that he would save her life. He finally made the decision to go through with it.

"Let's do it."

Kaito then brought out a needle and poured the potion into it. He went over to her arm and injected the potion right into her vain. He backed away and at first, nothing was happening but then, her heart rate started to go up and her breathing became very fast. Her heart rate soon went into cardiac arrest, it beat wildly out of control.

"Kaito! What the hell is going on?"

"Patience! She's becoming one of us."

"What do you mean?"

"Exactly what I mean. Her life as a human has ended and now she will exist as an alien-like human."

They observed her as the potion made it's way through Lia's vains. After a few minutes, Lia's heart rate began to slow to a normal pace and her breathing returned to normal.

"I should be going now. You should be the one to greet her when she wakes up."

Kaito walked out of the room and left Kazuki alone with Lia. Kazuki held her hand to help her get through this but he finally noticed that her heart rate has finally returned to normal.

"Lia, can you hear me?"

Lia's eyes slowly opened. Kazuki had a shocked expression on his face but he smiled and was happy to see that she finally opened her eyes.
