Chapter 6

The captain of the ship sat at the wheel bored. He let out a few sighs, wondering how much longer it would be until he would finally get to go home. Time dragged on with nothing to do. He wished Komatsuzaki would hurry up and abduct a human so he could finally go home. The worst part of this was that he couldn't even learn how to do the human disguise so he couldn't even go out. He's attempted it multiple times during this entire month but with no luck.

He heard footsteps and jumped up out of the chair with excitement to greet Komatsuzaki and the human that would be going home with them. He was disappointed to see that Komatsuzaki has returned alone and it would have to stay longer.

"Komatsuzaki, welcome back." The captain of the ship let out a nervous laugh. "I was wondering, how much longer will we be here? How much longer will it be until you bring a human? I mean, it gets very lonely here."

Komatsuzaki was a little troubled by his words as a memory of Lia flashed by him of how sick she has now become. He let out a slight gasp but returned to his tough demeanour.

"Can you wait three more days?"

"Three more days," the captain said softly to himself. Komatsuzaki started to walk away. "Wait!" He stopped in his tracks. "I would like you to teach me how to gain a human disguise."

Komatsuzaki's turned around and faced the space captain. "What's your name?"

"My name," the captain jumped. He sat down on his knees and gave Komatsuzaki a respectful bow. "It's Akito. Akito Hasegawa, sir!"

"Tell me Akito. Why do you want to learn the human disguise?"

"Sir, I would like to get into one of the academies to become a protective warrior. It's been my dream since I was very young. I don't want to just be a space captain."

Komatsuzaki gave him a small smile. "I see and how old are you now?"

"I am seventeen, sir."

He nodded. "Follow me."

Komatsuzaki lead Akito throughout the ship, down to the lower level of the ship where the architecture looked more like a traditional Japanese home. The rooms are all closed off with Shoji (Japanese sliding doors). The hallway had light hardwood but the room they came to had the traditional tatami flooring and a small upright piano in the corner. Komatsuzaki lead Akito into the room and grabbed two Zabuton (floor pillows) out of the closest and they went and sat down.

"So are you ready to learn how to do this?"

"I am," Akito replied with confidence, however his heart was beating so fast and he had so many thoughts going through his head. He was excited to finally be learning this, but also very anxious.

"Alright, the first thing I'm going to teach you is how to meditate." Akito's eyes filled with anxiety. "Now don't panic if this is your first time. The first thing I want you to do is to get into a comfortable sitting position. Preferably with your legs crossed. Make sure your spine is straight and close your eyes." He noticed Akito did so right away. "Good, next I want you to focus on your breathing. Taking in all the air and letting all the air out, eventually slowing to a slow relaxed pace. Make sure your mind is clear and that your thoughts are not wandering. Just focus on breathing for now."

Komatsuzaki looked over to the piano at the corner. He smiled and walked over to it. "Also what helps to keep your mind from wandering is to have classical music playing."

He started to play the piano with Debussy's Claire de Lune which was very helpful for Akito. Akito had never heard a sound so beautiful, yet alone as the piano's sound. The piece was so peaceful and relaxing that his mind was able to focus on his breathing and he was able to relax and enjoy this. Kazuki Komatsuzaki's playing was something else. It was the first time Akito has even heard the piano, but he knew that his playing was something different. It was truly beautiful.

The piece finished and Komatsuzaki could see that process was being made with Akito. "Akito, you should be going there very soon now. You will now go through a bunch of tests. It will be a test of your heart. You must be willing to learn. Do not be afraid and do not get consumed by that world. Wherever you end up is different for each person and you must be brave and overcome it. Do not let it beat you, you must beat it. Now I wish you good luck. Do your best."

Akito was woken up by the waves lightly crashing against him, the warm sand beneath him and could see how the sunset gave the sky all these bright colours. He sat up and took in the view that stood before him.

"Where am I?" he asked himself. He stood up and took in his alien reflection in the water and looked around him again which revealed a tiny village. "I see, I'm back home now but when did I get here. Did I fail Komatsuzaki? Was it him who brought me back here?"

His heart began to sink; he didn't want to be home when he'd achieved nothing. What's worse is he can't even remember leaving the human world. His mind was spinning in circles.

"This is so frustrating! I can't remember what happened!"

"Akito," he heard a woman's voice call out to him. "Akito!"

He turned around to see that it was his mother calling out to him. "Mom!" He ran into her arms to greet her.

"Akito," she said softly. "It's been a while. Welcome back."

"I'm home." Akito pulled away from the hug. "Mom, do you know what's happened to Komatsuzaki?"

She looked at him confused. "Komatsuzaki?"

"Komatsuzaki! The guy I went to the human world with to abduct a human! You remember right?"

"Oh yes, yes." Akito looked at her confused, but her expression didn't seem to change. It seemed to just remain in the form of a sweet loving mother, nothing else. "Now you must be hungry, you must come and eat."

"Yes."

Akito began to follow her and looked back at the water and saw a beautiful woman with long white hair, pale skin that almost looks like it's shining, and big bright blue eyes. Her beauty amazed him. He turned to face his mother again and then looked back at the ocean to see that she was gone. He thought it might have been his imagination and followed his mother to the dinner house where supper was prepared for the entire village.

Our planet has a tropical climate. Compared to a lot of planets, it is considered to be the perfect planet. One that never snows, therefore our planet is constantly fighting to protect our lives. There are people who can become protective warriors of the planet and people who can't. The requirement is to learn the human disguise, only achieved by a few. Those warriors are the ones fighting to protect the weak from the space monsters that attack our planet. The ones who are weak, have to run for our lives and hope we don't get eaten.

Our planet is made up of twenty districts. District one being the richest, the one closest to royalty. That's where all the nobles live. I come from District twenty, the lowest of the low. In my district, every day is a fight just to survive. We all have to find food and then we do our best to feed all the people in our village. We are all a family here.

Akio ate with everyone else in the village and then headed off to his family's small hut. Everyone slept in the same room. They had no futon, no bed, not even blankets to cover up at night. Day after the day was the same in this district. A fight to survive.

Akito got up with the sunrise and saw that the white woman has appeared at the beach again. He ran towards her but found that she has disappeared again.

"This is really getting strange, is she some illusion?"

Then he came upon a sword in the sand that was standing just where he saw the image of the girl. He went up and pulled the katana (Japanese style sword) out of the sand and analysed all of the details. The handle was a brown colour and the blade appeared to be dull.

Then he heard a cry coming from a pile of tall rocks and Akito decided to take the sword with him to check out the who the cry was coming from. As he got closer to the rock, it appeared to be a beautiful woman with long black hair. He assumed it was another alien who could use the human disguise.

"What's the matter," Akito asked.

"I need help," the woman cried. "I've lost my way and don't know where I am."

"Well," he replied. "You are in District twenty now. Seeing how you can use the human disguise, you're not from this district. Can you tell me what happened?"

Akito sat down and leant against the other side of the rock so he wouldn't appear too overwhelming for this woman who was in distress.

"I was in a boat with my family. We were travelling together and then all of a sudden this storm hit, I fell overboard and we all got separated. I ended up swimming until I reached land and that's how I ended up here." Her hands fell over her eyes as she began to sob.

"Hey! Don't worry!" Akito put his hand on her shoulder. "For the time being, you can stay with my family. This district may be the poorest of them all, but we will take care of you. I'll even help you find your family." He stood up and held out his hand. "Come, let's go back together."

She took his hand and stood up. He looked the other way to guide her back to the village, but the moment she got up, a wicked smile crossed her lips and the moment he looked back at her, he could see that she was something different. An evil kind of different that you want to stay away from. She had the human form of a woman on her upper half, but her lower half revealed to be a body of a snake.

Fear entered in through his body, he heart began to pound so heart that it could escape from his chest. He forcibly let go of her hand, through it back at her and started to back away from her.

"Foolish little alien," she cackled. "The one with a kind and compassionate heart is the first to fall prey this despair! Now you will slowly suffer as I suck out all your blood and then slowly devour you!"

He quickly started running away but the snake woman chased him down and she was very fast. His legs tried to keep going faster, but it was no use. The snake was able to move at a very fast speed. Then he remembered that he still had that sword in his hand. She slithered fast beside him and he struck her snake form with a cut, causing the creature to scream out in pain. Akito watched it in pain, trying to catch his breath but that only made it madder.

"Damn you," she screamed. "You'll pay for that!" She launched forward at him sticking her snake tongue at him, aiming for his neck but he jumped over to the side, causing her to miss. He got up running as fast as he could.

"Someone! Anyone! Please help me!"

As he was running in fear, he saw the white haired girl appear beside him, running with him.

Her again!

"You must cut her tongue off," she told him. "Use your sword to defeat her and save everyone."

She disappeared again and he was running alone from the monster again.

"Defeat her and save everyone," he questioned. "How the hell is someone like me suppose to do that?"

She launched forward again, tripping him which caused him to drop his sword. He tried to run and grab his sword but her snake tail blocked it just as he was getting close to it. He tried to go around it but he got whipped by her snake tail and got sent flying, making it so he was very far apart from his sword now.

The snake woman slithered towards him while a very wicked smile.

"What? Is that it? Is that all the fight you've got?" Akito struggled to get up but his body was in pain. "I guess that is it. You really caused a lot of trouble for me, you know that. Either way, it's time to put an end to this."

Her snake tongue slithered out of her mouth. Akito grabbed a handful of sand and threw it at her eyes! She pulled back and cried in pain and Akito rolled away from her, finding the strength to get up and run to his sword. He was finally able to reunite with it and finally put an end to this.

The snake woman launched at him one last time. "You're right, woman. Time to put an end to this." She stuck out her tongue, trying to leech onto his neck but he was successful enough to cut off her tongue in one swing. The creature again screamed in pain. "Farewell. Nure Onna!" Akito pieced the blade through her flesh, slowly killing the creature.

When it was all over. Akito fell to his knees and shed a few tears and then felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked up to see it was the white haired girl again.

"You've passed," she smiled. "I shall reward you by giving you a human form you can change into and out of whenever you desire."

He bowed before her. "Thank you, ma'am!"

She smiled and took out what looked like to be a magic wand.

"Watashi wa ima anata ni chikara o ataeru! Hogo suru chikara! Utsukushi-sa no okurimono! Tumaranimono desuga uketotte kudasai!" (I now grant you power! The power to protect! The gift of beauty! Please accept this gift!)

Akito's green alien form changed into a human with a light Asian skin tone, black hair and black eyes. He rushed over to the sea to take in his new reflection. He was amazed, his entire being filling with excited.

"Thank you so much," he jumped with excitement.

"It's no problem, but now I need you to wake up."

Akito's eyes shot open to reveal the room where Komatsuzaki took him. He wondered if it had all been a dream until he looked down at his hands and saw a human skin tone. Komatsuzaki was standing over him, checking to see if he was alright.

"I see you finally managed to gain a human disguise," he said.

"Komatsuzaki!" Akito jumped up with excitement and threw his arms around him, giving him a big enough hug to send him falling flat on his butt. "Thank you so much for helping me out!"

The two noticed the kind of position they were in and both turned away from each other blushing but was interrupted when Komatsuzaki was feeling every connection he ever had to Lia leave in such a hurry, knowing she was in trouble.

"Lia!" Komatsuzaki got up in a hurry.

"Komatsuzaki, what's the matter?"

"Lia is dead!"
