Chapter 18

Lia followed behind Kazuki to finally meet everyone who has finally arrived. She was met with a lot of unfamiliar faces and she could sense that everyone was very powerful. It was almost hard to breathe for her with a bunch of powerful beings around her. It took her back to the time when she first met Kazuki and how his very presence paralyzed her. Kazuki looked down and noticed Lia's shortness of breath.

"Are you alright," he asked.

Lia nodded. "I think so."

Kazuki rested his hand on her shoulder and Lia's breaths became steady. He kept his hand there and walked Lia to where everyone was gathered.

"Everyone," Kazuki announced. "This is the human I have brought back from Earth." Lia's arm twitched when she heard him refer to her as a human. She wondered if that was all she was to him and she felt a little scared about that.  "This woman had suffered from one of the most common deadly diseases called cancer. She died but it has been proved with this woman that it is possible to come back from the dead."

"huh," Kaito teased. "You seem to be taking all the credit for yourself but left out all the details on how it was possible for a mere human to come back from the dead."

Lia looked over at the tall blue haired man and remembered him. He was one Kazuki took her to get the language imported into her brain.

"Are you implying that you did something to her," a middle-aged man with purple tied into a low ponytail asked.

"Now that you mention it," a petite girl with black hair and brown eyes said. "There seems to be something not so human about her. I do sense something strange about this girl."

Lia's heart jumped. She remembered closing her eyes in Monte's arms and the next thing she knew, she woke up in a different room with Kazuki by her side. Not only that, her vision has been so clear compared to when she was alive.

"So what," a tough looking man spat. "Who cares if Kaito did something to her. In this world, there's no way a human could survive. I hope Kazuki knows that."

"I see what you mean," a young teenage blonde boy said. "Not to mention, this one looks very weak. Why not pick someone stronger?"

"You're one to talk," a muscular young guy said as he put the boy in a headlock. "You're still a child yet, Toshihiro-chan."

"Oy," Toshihiro yelled. "I thought I told you not to call me that."

The muscular guy smiled, let Toshihiro out of the headlock and then proceeded to mess up his hair.

"It's quite obvious why Kazuki would choose her," a red-haired woman said.

Lia's head snapped in the direction of the woman who said that. Being the nerd she was, Lia's thought of her favourite anime right away. Bleach. The woman didn't look like anyone from the manga in particular but it was just the voice that reminded her so much of one of Harribel's fraction. Sung-Sung.

"She does resemble her quite a bit now doesn't she?"

"Oy," Kazuki cut in. Everyone then stopped talking. "I did receive some help from Kaito. If I didn't, she wouldn't be here today. But, I'll let her introduced herself to you."

Kazuki took his hand off Lia's shoulder, which left some of his warmth behind. Lia touched the spot where Kazuki's hand was but then faced the group before her.

"Hello. My name is Lia. Lia Amato but my maiden name is Belmonte. It's nice to meet you all."

Lia bowed before them to show her respect. She has finally gotten used to the culture a little bit where she knew that it was necessary to bow and not shake hands here.

"You mean you were married before," Toshihiro asked.

"I was." Lia looked down. "Although since I died, I'm not sure if I really am anymore since it is till death do us part."

"You do have a point there," the red-haired woman said. "You have been taken away from that world and those humans would have filled out a death certificate for you by now. We'll go by your maiden name. How does that sound Lia?"

"I understand. Thank you very much."

Kazuki then came over and stood beside Lia once. "I'll introduce you to everyone now. These are the twenty masters of the twenty districts of this planet."

Lia looked around at them. She was surprised at how many of them were so young looking. Even though the majority was guys, there were quite a few women too.

"This guy with the crazy blue hair that you've already met, is the Master of District two. Kaito Matsumura. Master Matsumura."

"Really Kazuki," Kaito teased. "I helped save her life and you refer to me as the crazy blue haired guy."

Kazuki just smiled lightly at him but moved on. "The guy with black hair who has the low side pony hair is Master Uchiyama. Izumi Uchiyama." The two bowed at each other but didn't say anything. "This lady over here who said that she senses something suspicious about you is Master Nagasawa. Hanae Nagasawa."

"It's pleasure Lia," Hanae went up to and shook her hand which surprised Lia. "I hear humans did this so I thought I'd give it a try."

"Well, it's nice to meet you too Hanae." Not only did the handshake surprise her, it was Hanae's touch that made her feel uneasy. Her touch was chilling to the bone. It was so cold that Lia's hand felt like it was frozen.

"The girl with the long wavy red hair would be Master Akiyama of District five," Kazuki said. "Kikyoko Akiyama and the guy with the orange hair is Master Imada of District six, Satoshi Imada." Lia nodded and Kazuki continued. This girl with the short pink hair is Master Sasaki of District seven, Ayako Sasaki. The kid with blonde hair is Master Enomoto of District eight, Toshihiro Enomoto. The brown haired guy who was bugging him earlier is Master Tamaki of District nine, Hayata Tamaki. Districts ten's master is the other quiet guy, Hisato Shimazu."

"It's a lot to take in," Lia said.

"I understand but, I'll finish introducing everyone. The girl with green wavy hair is the Master of District eleven, Mayumi Hirata. The long blonde hair guy is the Master of District twelve, Tomoki Ogata. Then there's the guy who really enjoys fighting with the long light brown hair, Master Nishida of District Thirteen. Yohei Nishida. The red-haired guy is the Master of District fourteen, Okimoto Ueno. This young lady, the Master of District fifteen has one of the scariest powers. The one with the long blonde hair who looks very innocent, Saori Toyama. The girl beside her with the long orange hair is the Master of District seventeen, Matsuko Yamazaki. She has the best connection with nature. The two middle-aged looking men beside each other have been drinking buddies for years. Masters of District eighteen and nineteen. Kana Nakata and Ayumu Ozaki. And finally, we have the Master of District twenty, Emiko Fujiwara.

Lia looked at all the District masters before her and thought there was no way she could remember all of that. It was all too much to take in all at once.

"Don't worry too much about remember who we all are Lia," Kane said.

"That's right," Ayumu added. "Besides, you don't have to memorize all of us until you go to school to become a warrior."

"There's no way I could do that," Lia said. "I don't have the ability to fight."

"We all have to start somewhere," Yohei cut in. "If you don't mind, I could train you myself."

"That's alright," Lia said.

"Don't try to scare her too much Yohei," Kaito teased. "Besides, I'm sure Himeko-chan could help her out with that."

Every time Kaito spoke, it was the kind of voice that made your skin crawl with the creepiness it had. Lia thought his name should have been Gin Ichimaru instead. Everyone then started to have some tea and some Christmas treats outside. The two middle-aged men were outside having a conversation with some Sake (酒). Some of the boys decided to fight each other with wooden swords outside and others laid on the ground to soak up the sun. The girls sat at a table with a bunch of Christmas treats.

"So Lia," Hanae began. "What do you think of Rakuen so far?"

Well," Lia smiled and looked up into the warm sun. "I really like it so far. It actually feels like I'm on vacation. I actually hope this isn't all a dream. It's amazing that it's so warm in December."

"You can think of it as heaven," Emiko joked and Lia giggled with her. "You did die but then you came back to life."

"As for the warm sunny days," Kikyoko said. "It's all going to come to an end soon. It'll soon be rainy until March but then the cherry blossoms will bloom and everyone will celebrate with another festival."

"I can't wait for the Cherry Blossom festival, Mastsuko added.

"You would Mastsuko," Ayako teased. "Anyway, do you like Kazuki?"

Lia's eyes widened and she couldn't speak.

"I'll take that as a yes," Ayako said and she grabbed wrist which revealed a small crescent moon on it that was pink. Ayako giggled and let go of her wrist. "It's true. You've been soul marked to him, otherwise, that mark on your wrist wouldn't change colour. Pink means you're probably embarrassed about it."

"What!" Lia looked down at her crescent moon tattoo that she has had since birth but she has never noticed it change colour before. "I've had this since I was very young. I thought it was something that was done when I was a baby but, I've never seen it change colour before."

"That happens," she explained. "It just means that you've finally met your...well soulmate I guess you could say. So you were actually married to the wrong person."

"Oh," Lia replied and put her head down.

"But not to worry! Black is the neutral colour, the others may represent a type of emotion your feeling. Kazuki and Himeko have one too! Have you seen there's yet?"

"I haven't," Lia admitted. "I kind of want to see it on him now." They all laughed at that. "I have to admit, I thought Himeko was Kazuki's wife."

"I bet you're glad that she isn't," Mayumi said. "Look at what's happening over there. Quite the romantic scene isn't it."

Lia looked over and saw Himeko was having a conversation with Kaito with her hand rested on his arm, facing towards each other. Lia had to admit that they looked very cute together. They were both tall but Himeko was a few inches shorter than him. It was a pair that complimented each other very well.
