Returning to Hogwarts- Chapter 43
Returning to Hogwarts
Chapter 43
The next morning Anna woke up in Draco’s arms and she didn’t want to leave them. She lay there just looking at his beautiful sleeping face. It made her want to cry because all she could think was how much she wanted to be able to do this every day of their life; waking up in his arms. How much she wished things were different and they could be free to live however they wanted to withoutthe dark lord’s influence on them. Anna lifted her left arm which was lying on Draco’s hip and looked at the nasty dark mark that was now there. The pain when it was put there by the dark lord was gone, but not the pain of what it represented. She had no choice, it was either take the mark or Draco would die as well as herself and the bay. She thought of her father, Lupin, and Tonks, Rafe and the rest of her friends in the Order. Anna could no longer see them or be a part of their lives. She may have the dark mark, but she would choose death rather than hurt any one of them or others.
Anna sat up in Draco’s bed and looked at the mark that was also visible on Draco’s arm, using her finger to lightly run it over the mark. Anna remembered the night he had revealed it to her, the same night he had told her he loved her and why he had been avoiding her. That night seemed so long ago and so much had changed since then. Anna had loved him despite the terrible choice he’d had to make when he became a death eater and she loved him now and believed that nothing would change that. Anna’s touch on his arm woke Draco and Anna watched as his sleepy eyes fluttered open and he smiled up at her, “Good morning, sweetheart,” he said sleepily, stretching his long pale body, “Did you sleep well?”
“Oh yes, thanks to you. You wore me out last night,” Anna said, blushing slightly, as she remembered all that happened the night before.
Suddenly there was a knock on Draco’s bedroom door and Anna jumped up grabbing the robe Draco had given her the night before; quickly pulling it on, tying it, she ran to the bathroom closing the door behind her.
Draco got up, slipping on his P.J. pants and using his wand, he lifted the spells and charms and unlocked his door, “Come in,” he said loudly and the door opened. It was his mother, “Good morning, mother.”
“Good morning Draco,” she looked around the room, “I assume Anna is here with you?”
“She is in the bathroom,” Draco admitted freely.
“How is she doing?” Narcissa asked with concern.
“As good as can be expected considering all that she’s been through.”
“Here is Anna’s wand, please give it back to her and we need both of you to come downstairs to the study. The dark lord is gone, but he left instructions for you both with your Aunt Bellatrix.”
“We will be down in a moment.”
After Narcissa left, Draco went to his closet and dressed, putting on his usual black suit and clothing. He also got out the clothes that he had gotten Anna the last time she had been there captured at Malfoy Manor. He had saved them, for what reason he didn’t know, he just couldn’t toss them out.
Draco knocked on the bathroom door, giving Anna her wand and the clothing so she could get dressed and he let her know they had to go down to the study.
Anna and Draco met with Bellatrix in the Malfoy study. Anna couldn’t believe they had given her wand back, but it did her no good, she couldn’t fight all the death eaters and then there was Draco and the fact that Voldemort would destroy him because of her actions now. Anna could feel Draco’s parents eyes on her as she walked in, which made her nervous for some reason.
Bellatrix informed them that they would both be returning to Hogwarts by order of the dark lord and they were to be on lookout for Harry Potter and they were to call Voldemort immediately if he showed up.
Anna could not believe she would be returning to Hogwarts. Once she got there she would notify Tonks and just tell her she had decided to return to school and then she would try her best to avoid anyone close to her for fear she might put them in danger.
Bellatrix left them alone with Draco’s parents in the study. Lucius spoke up, “I can only assume that you spent the night in my son’s bedroom,” he said disdainfully, looking at Anna as though she were beneath him.
“Yes, I did,” Anna admitted, looking him in the eye. He had the same eyes as Draco, only they were not near as warm and loving, they were like ice.
“You have no business being with my son,” Lucius spat out harshly.
“And you have no business speaking to Anna like that, Father,” Draco shouted angrily, “and I will not tolerate it. I will decide who I love and want to be with, not you. So do not speak to her in that manner again.”
Lucius looked at Draco as if he might hit him or say something back, but he must have thought better about it, because Lucius simply walked away, leaving the room and slamming the door behind him.
Narcissa came over to Anna; they were about the same size and height. Narcissa surprised Anna when she hugged her, “I am sorry about Lucius, but I am grateful that Draco has someone like you who loves him. You didn’t have to take that mark for him, but you saved his life. I owe you more than you know and would consider it an honor to have you with my son,” Narcissa was close to tears.
“There was no choice to make,” Anna assured Narcissa, “I would never have Draco harmed if I can help it.” Draco took Anna’s hand in his, standing close beside her. Narcissa was still holding her other hand, when suddenly she gave Anna a surprised look and slowly her face lit up in a smile, “So when is my grandchild due?” she asked, shocking them.
Anna looked at her in surprise and shock, “How did you know?” she whispered.
“You have a certain glow to you and it is also something I have always been very good at detecting. I guess it’s one of my skills. Why didn’t you tell me, Draco?” Narcissa asked hurt.
“Mother, the dark lord must not find out that Anna’s pregnant,” Draco said desperately.
“No, he must not,” Narcissa agreed, “It must be our secret for now. Not even your father can know about this.”
Anna was surprised at how Narcissa was treating her. she had not expected Draco’s mother to be this kind to her.
“I can’t believe I am going to be a grandmother,” Narcissa smiled, a small wistful smile on her face, “After I had Draco I had wanted more children, but it was not meant to be. But now I will have a grandchild to spoil,” she looked Anna over, “You look as though you have lost weight? How has your pregnancy been?”
“Honestly, at first I was sick and couldn’t keep anything on my stomach over the past months, but the sickness has gone away now.”
“So you are over 4 months along, which means the baby is due sometime in May?” Narcissa asked.
“Yes, I believe that is right,” Anna replied.
“But when could you and Draco have been together,”Narcissa didn’t get a chance to finish.
“Honestly, mother,” Draco said, exasperated, “The baby is mine. You remember the night of the death eaters raid on the Weasley Wedding and I was late returning home. I was with Anna that night.”
“Oh,” was all Narcissa said. Narcissa sent them both to the kitchen to get some breakfast before they would be heading back to Hogwarts and whatever was in store for them there.
