I Didn't Want to Hurt You- Chapter 12

I Didn’t Want to Hurt You

Chapter 12

Christmas break was over. The Weasley family had joined Sirius, Harry and Anna at #12 Grimmauld Place and even though it was nice to spend time with a large family at Christmas, Anna’s spirits were still down because she missed her mum and dad. Anna had never spent a holiday without them and all the things she had discovered about her mum had been a shock. Anna still felt as though she had never truly known her own mother.

Things rocked on at Hogwarts and Anna still avoided Draco. She had become an expert at it; ducking into other corridors and classrooms and loosing herself in huge crowds of students so he couldn’t find her. In class she would sit as far away from him as possible, but she always felt his presence. And she knew his eyes were on her because she could feel it. But Anna just couldn’t risk the D.A. by having anything to do with Draco Malfoy.

And then it happened one night. The D.A. was working on their Patronus charm. Anna had perfected hers. It was a beautiful sleek female wolf that came soaring from the end of her wand. But suddenly the walls begin to crack and then a blast that nearly blew away Harry and Nigel. Everyone else stood in shock as Umbridge, Filch and the rest of her Inquisitorial Squad busted through. They were found out.

Anna couldn’t look at Draco as she and a few others were marched out at wand point by one of his Slytherin friends. The Ministry of Magic immediately accused Dumbledore of raising an army against them and tried to arrest him but he escaped. Umbridge was made Headmistress of Hogwarts. Things at Hogwarts took a major turn for the worst.

All the D.A. members had been punished by Umbridge several days later. They were all made to write lines and the pain to the back of all their hands was severe, but no one complained. They all felt like it was worth it. It was late when they all left the great hall to head back to their dorms.

Anna was the last one in her group of Ravenclaws as they headed up the stairs to their dorm in the upper floors of Hogwarts. She saw something fluttering and turned to look. It was a colorful paper butterfly, flying in spirals and then it headed down a hallway near her dorm. Curiosity got the better of her and Anna followed it. It flew into an open doorway to an unused classroom and landed on a table. Suddenly the door closed and Anna was plunged into darkness. Anna’s heart thudded and she quickly lit the end of her wand. With Dumbledore gone from Hogwarts she didn’t feel safe, especially with the disappearance of her parents. She looked around, finding some candles she lit them. And leaning up against the huge teachers desk was Draco.

Anna immediately headed for the door. She tried the door handle but it was locked tight. “Just because Umbridge has taken over the school doesn’t give you the right to do whatever you want, Draco,” Anna hissed, “unlock the damn door,” and Anna started pulling and twisting the handle. She reached in her robe, looking for her wand.

“I knew you were a part of Potters group of idiots,” Draco smirked.

“Really?!” Anna turned to face him. She was angry, her hazel green eyes shooting sparks. Draco had started walking slowly down the aisle towards her. Anna brought her wand up but wasn’t quick enough, he shot a disarming spell, sending it flying towards him, catching it quickly and tucking it into his robe. This really made her furious and she went at him grabbing the front of his robe with both fists, pulling him down to look at her, “Well if you did, why didn’t you turn me in to Umbridge?!”

Draco grabbed Anna’s wrists in his hands, pulling her up against him, still holding her wrists, “I don’t know,” he said, no sneer or smirk, he was serious, his face very near to her own, “I guess I’m crazy, but for some reason I didn’t want to hurt you.”

The anger was quickly melting from Anna as she heard his words. He brought her right hand up to him, looking at the angry red whelps there that had not faded from Umbridge’s punishment. He brought his lips down and laid a gentle kiss on the back of her hand. Then he brought his lips up near Anna’s and she was mesmerized, “I’ve missed you, Anna,” he whispered against her lips.

Anna could feel it as though electricity was shooting through her body and she couldn’t get enough of it. How could she want this boy so much? “Draco, we can’t,” she said against his lips, “we are not right for each other.” But he started kissing her deeply and Anna fell into it, kissing him back passionately. Automatically her arms went around him until she was running her hands through his platinum hair. Anna could feel his hands caressing her back, deepening the kiss, as his hands moved over her body and then settled on her bottom, bringing her closer into him. Draco broke the kiss and whispered against her cheek, “Tell me again we are not right for each other,” he kissed his way along her jawline, moving his lips near her ear, “tell me you don’t want me when I do this,” he whispered in her ear, and Anna thought she would melt into a puddle. He was kissing her neck, then he started gently sucking on it, Anna leaning back to let him, moaning slightly, her hands gripping him to keep from going to the floor.

Anna knew she had to stop this madness, but she didn’t want to. Right now she did not want anything but Draco Malfoy. His lips had started moving again, this time lower and Anna felt his hands caressing her as they came to her waist and then they were undoing her white Ravenclaw blouse, his lips following each open button until she felt him kissing the hollow between her breasts. This finally broke through to Anna, “Please Draco, stop,” she pleaded softly. He looked up at her, and Anna could see the desire in his blue-gray eyes. He came back up until he was looking down at her and slowly started buttoning up her blouse, having caught a glimpse of her round breast and soft pink bra. After he finished he brought his hands up to Anna’s face, holding it gently in his hands.

“I want you, Anna,” Draco admitted in a rough whisper. And he did. He had never wanted a girl as much as he did this one. Right now he didn’t care about anything else, and damn the consequences. Draco could see it in Anna’s eyes that she wanted him too, even if she tried to fight it, “I have something for you,” and he took her hand and led her over to the huge desk. There were three boxes sitting there.

“What is it?” Anna looked at him puzzled.

“Why don’t you open them and find out,” he smirked.

Anna opened one hesitantly, like she was afraid it was a trap. There, sitting in one box, was a collection of some of her muggle books and things she had stowed in the Room of Requirement.

Draco watched the look of wonder and joy come over Anna’s face and it made him feel good. It had been worth it to make her happy and he liked making her light up.

“I can’t believe this,” she beamed up at him, “I thought I had lost all my stuff.”

Draco laughed as Anna suddenly threw her arms around him in a huge hug, “Thank you,” she kissed him on the lips, “thank you, thank you, thank you,” she was kissing each cheek and then his forehead between thank you’s. “You don’t know how long it took me to collect all this stuff. It tore me up to think I’d lost it all and I knew for sure that Umbridge would destroy it.”

“No, she didn’t notice, and I was able to get it all before she did,” Draco smiled, loving the feel of her arms around him, “I figured out it was your things. So you hid it in the R.R. because you were afraid I would have Umbridge search your dorm after all. You wound me Anna,” he said, acting hurt.

“Well, you did threaten to do it,” Anna defended herself, a smile still on her lips. She was still in Draco’s arms and she didn’t want to leave them, “so can you blame me?”

“No,” he said seriously, “I would have done the same thing. But now you have your stuff back.”

“Yes, thanks to you,” Anna said softly, looking at him deeply. This time she brought her lips up to his, starting their kiss this time. They kissed deeply and then Anna stopped, her head lying on Draco’s chest, her arms around him tightly, his around her. She could feel his strong heartbeat through his white dress shirt, “Thank you,” Anna whispered against him. She felt comforted and protected being held in Draco’s arms.

Draco kissed the top of her head, breathing in her soft floral scent.  He loved the soft feel of Anna in his arms. It made him feel like this was all that mattered; this girl and how she felt about him. No matter what he did or what his father or Slytherin friends wanted out of him, this girl would always be the keeper of a piece of his heart, if not all of it,  because with her he felt whole. No layers of hate to put on, he could be himself with her, and though she might get angry at him, he knew she really cared. “You’re welcome. Now do you think you can read to me again?”

Anna looked up at him sweetly, “I would love too,” she kissed his lips softly. Anna agreed to start meeting Draco again like they usually did, not because he was threatening her, but because she wanted to be with him. But that turned into an almost nightly thing, except when Draco had Quidditch practice. On those nights Anna would sit in the stands proudly watching him. They met a lot. Either in the Astronomy tower or down by the lake, since it was almost summer and the weather was nice. Anna was content to sit back with Draco, his arms wrapped around her as she read her different muggle books. It was a thrill to hear him crack up with laughter when she read one of her comedies and like her, Shakespeare was his favorite. Anna told Draco that if she ever got the chance she wanted to go see one of Shakespeare’s plays performed live in a muggle theater and she would like him to go with her. To her shock, he said he would like to go as well. And as Anna and Draco drew closer, things at Hogwarts were falling apart. Changes were about to take place.
