Talent Night
I sat down looking at my albums that I did. It brought we so many good memories. Back when I was in the studio writing and doing songs.
Never once did I think I would ever win any awards let alone think my albums would be the world's most top selling.
This all happened due on crazy idea and night. Thanks to dad who pushed me to face my fears and dreams.
Nine years ago
"Come on my friend told me he wants a musical guest for the opening of his restraunt and I told him my daughter is an amazing singer." Says Dad on the dinner table. Leaving me and mom in shock.
Apparently Dad told me he wants me to sing some of my songs on an opening of a restraunt. I was very shy to show my lyrics to my dad and mom let alone show them to strangers.
"Come on you know how to play the panio really quickly and even made melodies to go with the songs. You can do it. I know how much you want to sing and this is a perfect opportunity." He says smiling at me. "You will have me and mom to be there to support you."
I looked at mom. Who looked at both of us. Then she sighed.
"Maybe this would be a perfect opportunity for you to finally have the guts to take on music and get rid of some of that shyness." Says mom drinking her some of her water. In which I groaned.
"Fine dad I'll do it." I say getting all pumped up.
The next day in school I was sitting in lunch with my firends. Who were all talking about having no plans for the weekend which was shocking we always have plans.
"What do you think Channel you want to do to the beach this Saturday?" Asked Max. He was one if my closes friends.
"Well I would love to but I have a singing gig." I say. It felt weird to say. It wasn't really a gig since I wasn't even being paid. But it's going to be the first place where I'm going to be singing in public.
Max, Coroline, Thy and Heaven looked at me in shock. I didn't want to tell them but knowing dad he would want to show off that I'm going to be singing at a grand opening of a restraunt. So i would rather my friends hear it from me.
"We have to go." Says Coroline.
Everyone in the table nodded.
"You really don't have to." I say shying away.
"Nonsense what restraunt." Asked Thy.
"Wolf's Den." I say.
Heaven smiled.
"We will all be there." She says.
Great. I felt a lot of pressure being added. What if everyone thinks I suck at singing.
Come one dad thinks i have an amazing voice. Plus mom and dad will be supporting that is all I need.
All that week i spent it polishing my lyrics and making the melodies to go along with it better.
When it came to around the time to my performance. I was a nervous wreck. When i got to the restraunt it was a full house. People that i did and didn't know were there. My plams were sweaty.
The Alpha and Luna were here. Also my friends were here.
Fuck.
My Dad took me to the side.
"I know you are nervous. I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't believe in you." He says. "Now go and sing you heart out."
I got the front of the stage that the restraunt had. Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at me. There was a piano and microphone next to it.
"Hello my name is Channel Dela Rosa and I'll be singing some of the songs that I've written and hopefully you all will like then a bit." I say shyly as I sat down on the panio bench. "Also big thank you to the restraunt owner."
I started to get ready.
"This song is called Stay." I say.
All along it was a fever
A cold-sweat hot-headed believer
I threw my hands in the air, said, "Show me something,"
He said, "If you dare, come a little closer."
Round and around and around and around we go
Oh now, tell me now, tell me now, tell me now you know.
Not really sure how to feel about it.
Something in the way you move
Makes me feel like I can't live without you.
It takes me all the way.
I want you to stay
It's not much of a life you're living
It's not just something you take, it's given
Round and around and around and around we go
Oh now, tell me now, tell me now, tell me now you know.
Not really sure how to feel about it.
Something in the way you move
Makes me feel like I can't live without you.
Yeah, it takes me all the way.
I want you to stay.
Ooh, ooh, ooh, the reason I hold on
Ooh, ooh, ooh, 'cause I need this hole gone
Funny you're the broken one but I'm the only one who needed saving
'Cause when you never see the light it's hard to know which one of us is caving.
Not really sure how to feel about it.
Something in the way you move
Makes me feel like I can't live without you.
Yeah, it takes me all the way.
I want you to stay, stay.
I want you to stay, ooh.
When I was done. Everyone in the room stood up and cheered. My heartbeat went up. Mom and Dad jumped up and down.
I loved this feeling. I took a bow. I didn't know what else to do. The rest of the night I sang three more songs of mine called Guys My Age, Perfect, and Posion.
By the time I was done everyone was in awe by me. Mom and Dad had tears coming out of their eyes.
"My daughter is so talented." Says mom kissing my forehead and hugging me.
"I knew could do it kiddo." Says my Dad.
That's when a tall lean woman came walking to us. She smiled at all of us.
"Can I just say is that I'm absolutely in love with all your songs." She says. "My name is Daliza Smith and can I ask have you thought of actually becoming a singer?"
I looked at mom and dad. A singer me? No really. I mean I love music but I probably would never make it in the music industry.
"No i don't think I am for that." I say. Daliza smiled and gave a card to my dad. "Call me if you ever change your mind."
With that she left. And the rest of the night. I thought about being a singer people actually loving and listening to the music that I wrote. People loving me. Proving my past family that I'm and worth something.
The lights, camera and action.
The next day I walked down stairs to join my mom and dad for breakfast.
"Honey the owners of the restraunt want to know if you are willing to go back and perform?" Asked my mom looking so happy.
"Mom... Dad I want to be a singer." I say. With that their looked at me shocked.
"Are you sure?" Asked my Dad.
I nodded.
"I thought about it. And I think I can do it."
Mom looked at me smiling.
"Well then Dean has to give that lady a call." Says mom.
"Are you sure?" Asked my Dad looking at me. "We will support you."
I nodded.
I never been so sure in my whole life.
Daliza stood in front of me fixing my hair. She looked nervous as well. Since Dad gave her a call. They came to the agreement that she was going to be my manager but that was months ago.
She had me singing at many little places here and there. She also had me going to a little recording studio where she had me record my little EP. Which was put on a YouTube Channel that I made. And the songs are starting to gain popularity. One of my songs hit ten million views in three days and is now toping the charts. I even started to gain following on my social media accounts. I love it everyone tells me how much they enjoy my music.
Daliza had a favor owed to her from a powerful guy at a top record company. She wanted to get me signed to a record label.
The record heard me my EP and are willing to give me a record deal. I felt excited.
Here my mom, dad and Daliza sat on the seat. Waiting for the people from the record company to call me in.
"Channel Dela Rosa." Says the lady. We all stood and followed her. She walked us to a conference room where business men were seated.
They looked at me.
"We are willing to give her a one year deal just to see how much she sells." Says the first guy. "She has to come out with a whole album and we'll see what goes on from there."
"Wait just to try her out?" Says Daliza.
They nodded.
"We will have the top producers and writers backing her and of course a PR team. But you know Daliza we are always taking numbers." Says another dude.
Daliza nodded.
"Alright lets talk numbers how much are we talking about." She asked.
"One million dollar deal." Says the oldest of the group.
Daliza seemed to think about it for a second. A million dollars they are willing to give me. I could not believe it. I never seen that type of money before.
"Alright but if this album happens to sell exceptionally well then I want the next Record deal to be twenty five million." She says.
The older guy smirked.
"If she sells. Then i don't see why not." He says standing up and shaking hands with everyone.
"Wish you the best pop star." Says the old dude. With that they left.
"Good news you got a record deal bad news we have to make sure this album that you are going to do sells a shit load. So just keep doing what you are doing writing and shit. Let me talk to your mom and dad." Says Daliza.
I walked out the room. I got a record deal. I'm going to have a legit album. I can do this people will love my music. I hope.
Present time
They sure did loved it.
