XVIII. COOKIES AND HEARTBREAK
i'd risk my life for you, after all, my sanity has already long been painted on the canvas called love. all for you.
For Jeongguk, everything felt so much better now that everything was out in the open. He'd been non-stop smiling since Taehyung opened up to him about his mother; there was a new found trust and Jeongguk felt himself falling even further for the artist. The younger had even taken up the elder's idea of painting, now starting to delve into the world of art everyday after work.
"Look at you, being all happy and bubbly. You're so in love, guk, it's adorable!" Jin babbled to the younger as they sat in the Dandelion Cafe, lattes in hand and cookies snacked on. Jimin was supposed to be stopping by later, saying he had a special 'surprise'.
"I wouldn't say love hyung. It's not that strong of a feeling." Jeongguk turned crimson at the mention of loving Taehyung, and embarrassment laced his words and embedded itself as heat in his cheeks.
Jin sighed, wiping his mouth with a paper napkin after eating another cookie, smiling subtly to himself as Jeongguk turned shades darker. "You might as well be. This is the first time in days that you've left his side."
At that moment, before Jeongguk could defend himself or Jin could continue with a smug expression, Jimin walked into the cafe with a familiar person by his side. The orange-haired boy scanned the buzzing room, him and his company weaving through tables to get to their chatting friends.
"Shush hyung it's not - Jimin? Yoongi?" Jin looked Yoongi with confused eyes, a sad emotion swirling in his coffee irises that Jeongguk couldn't come up with an explanation for. Jimin smiled with crescents for eyes at the two, a pink dusting his chubby cheeks in a warm glow and white pearls on show.
"This is your surprise? Yoongi?" Jin spoke carefully. Jeongguk and the eldest had a faint idea as to what the 'surprise' was. Jin just hoped it was anything but true.
But to his despair, Jimin had taken Yoongi's pale hand in his smaller one, proudness beaming and escaping his pores, happiness so sickly that Jeongguk felt himself wanting to heave.
"Me and Yoongi are dating now!"
Jin gripped the paper napkin tight as the youngest looked Yoongi up and down, who was staring at the wooden floorboards beneath his Doc.Marten cladded feet. Anger rushed through his veins at this; what happened to Hoseok? Did he know of this?
"Please excuse me." Jin was upset. That was clear. Not just by the tears swimming in dark orbs or his voice weakening and cracking from speaking against the lump in his throat, but by the way his body slumped and his feet shuffled their way to the front door.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?!" Jeongguk exploded and stood up from the table, lattes and cookies forgotten while Yoongi still stared at the floor. Jimin's gaze focused on the entrance, most likely wondering as to why Jin's mood was suddenly so sad.
"I'm sorry Jeong-"
"No, you don't have the right to be sorry. My brother may have called you all the names under the fucking sun, he may have argued with you way too much, he may have gotten jealous a little too often, but he didn't deserve to be thrown away and replaced like this," Jeongguk spat at the slightly-smaller elder, tears of anger rising and fury whirling in his stomach. "Especially by you Jimin."
Jimin looked at the younger at the mention of his name, his brows knitting together and a hurt expression plastered onto his seemingly innocent face. "Me? What have I done?"
Jeongguk scoffed, picking up his backpack and his leather jacket. "Unbelievable. Both of you are as pathetic as each other."

Hoseok cried and couldn't seem to stop. And if he was going to be honest, he didn't really want to. Yoongi's short visit a mere hour ago struck him hard, like a harsh smack to his face or a crack in his mirror of perfection. He liked Yoongi, and though it may not seem that way by how he constantly insulted and complained, he hated the fact he was with someone else.
With Jimin. Of all people the bastard could've picked, he picked Hoseok's best friend.
Jin had locked himself in his room as soon as he got home. He just sobbed beneath his sheets, not caring if he seemed weak or vulnerable; his heart was shattered and his emotions were just a tangled mess of wool. There didn't seem to be any happiness out of this situation.
Seokjin didn't show much of his emotions because he needed to be strong for his youngers. He needed to be that parent figure, that strong companion, that reliable source of comfort.
Now he was stuck on his own.
In a complete daze as to how he could climb out of the pit called heartbreak.
