Hello lovely people. Today I'd like to give you a comprehensive list of alternate timelines... for my alternate timeline fanfiction, and, like, the Legends Darkstalker kids in general. Because I spend too much time thinking about these dragons. Please enjoy I guess.

Eclipse dies in her egg before Darkstalker can save her/villain Shadowhunter AU

-Maximum pain, literally would not work as an actual storyline bc I can't split up Dark and Clear in their own fix it fic, but still fun to think about

-Dark and Clear separate, both destroyed over Eclipses death and blaming themselves. They're still very much in love, but can't be around each other without lashing out and placing blame. Cue longing eye contact and awkward conversations when they drop Way and Shadowhunter off at each other's houses.

-They would probably get back together eventually in this, but I feel like they'd need some time to heal away from each other.

-Way is probably a lot nicer, I hate to say it, but I feel like without a sibling he could easily push around he would have learned not to do that a lot faster.

-Shadowhunter absorbs all his shittiness and goes full villain and kills Way and Vigilance at the end of WOI, and eventually Darkstalker and Clearsight before accidentally self-destructing herself and the dragons around her with some kind of magic experiment gone wrong

-Oh Dark and Clear, like, get back together and forgive each other for the mess that happened with Eclipse right before they die :)

-Anyway like I said, this timeline is too depressing even for me but it's fun to think about and in conclusion this entire series would literally combust without Eclipse, I cannot stress this enough.

Villain Eclipse AU

-Ok I know this seems out there but I swear it fits. Eclipse gets kidnapped by Snowfox and Diamond at a really young age, and gets raised as an IceWing rather than a NightWing, with, um... a lot worse parenting than what she had. Keep in mind, she still has her "say yes to everything" complex, just in a society that encourages violence. Think you can see where this is going.

-The thing is, there's a reason Eclipse had to be so nice: if she put her mind to it, she would be an absolutely terrifying villain because she's smart, and so good at manipulating people, and making them underestimate her. She's a really good liar. Like she would be able to do so much damage, whereas Way and Shadowhunter... are not very smart when it comes to strategy. Like they couldn't manage their way out of a wet paper bag, the destruction that they can do is very limited.

-Alternatively, she snaps and joins the IceWings in book three, with effectively the same result, after one or both of her parents dies in the flood, and she ends up taking over as queen, and Way and Shadowhunter end up having to fight against her.

Polar and Permafrost, childhood friends to enemies AU

-Snowflake wasn't exiled, just kind of shoved to the sidelines of court life--so Permafrost grows up at the palace. Bc Fox and Snowflake see each other a lot, their kids naturally end up hanging out while they're talking. (They can't be officially together for social status reasons, but still meet all the time.)

-Permafrost and Polar in this AU balance each other out--Permafrost teaches him to be calmer and more rational, he teaches her how to break the rules every now and then. But it's also very toxic--they help each other do insane things to win their parents' approval, and sort of help justify what they put themselves through to each other.

-Btw they don't fall in love or anything, just plain friends to enemies

-Anyway, after Polar starts fighting in the war and bragging about killing people Permafrost gets increasingly fed up with him, and leaves without telling him to the Night Kingdom, which adds to his reasons to go on an evil rampage. Maybe they make up at the end.

Literally everything is good and okay AU

-Foeslayer doesn't run off with Arctic, Diamond manages to stop him, and she finds out she's pregnant when she gets back home.

-She raises Darkstalker and Whiteout as a single mom. There is no war, bc the IceWings have no idea that her kids are related to Arctic, everyone just thinks their dad was some random IceWing. For that reason, Darkstalker has to keep his magic a secret, but tbh I feel like that might have been good for him??? Anyway his power hungry urges never become more than a slight fantasy and he still has his issues, but is far better off for never having met his dad

-At some post he probably snaps, like, protecting Whiteout or Clearsight and accidentally reveals his power, launching him into a world of political intrigue where he's trying to prevent the war or whatever

Darkstalker is raised in the Ice Kingdom AU

-Ok the logic in this one is a little iffy, but idk, maybe Diamond used her magic to trap Foeslayer and Arctic in the Ice Kingdom, and that was that. So Foeslayer and Arctic very unhappily raised their kids there, because they literally could not leave, which extends to their kids. It's basically just a curse.

-This means Whiteout would have been raised as a possible heir to the throne, and is probably very miserable because she would absolutely hate it in the Ice Kingdom.

-They're allowed to visit the Night Kingdom as ambassadors for a few weeks every year--Hades and Persephone style, I guess, and that's how Darkstalker meets Clearsight, in a kind of... reverse Foeslayer and Arctic? Anyway, they're around four or five, and they fall in love, and the second he meets her the futures totally change. So they write letters back and forth all year, waiting for the few weeks of summer where they'll see each other again.

-Maybe there's some kind of summit with all the tribes royalty, which is where Fathom meets Darkstalker?

-Darkstalker breaks the only-use-magic-once rule to make the dreamvisitors, and doesn't ever tell anyone. He uses little bits of magic in secret, and resents that he can't use it openly.

-Clearsight is the one who proposes when they're a bit older, growing tired of only being able to see him once a year, knowing she would have to leave her whole world behind. Darkstalker very reluctantly accepts, and they get married in the Ice Kingdom--which only tolerates it because Snowflake just snapped and assassinated Arctic but no one can pin it on her and Darkstalker, or Arctic died the same way he did in the version of the story idk--anyway, as the only animus, Darkstalker is kind of in a position to bargain with them--and also, Clearsight's insane levels of power are kind of convenient from a strategy perspective.

-After this point honestly not much changes, except it's even more important for Shadowhunter to hide her magic for the sake of not being controlled and used by the queen--but if this AU could tie into the "Permafrost lives at the palace" one, Shadowfrost could be childhood friends, which I think would be really sweet.

-Clearsight would be an IceWing princess by marriage--which is so funny to me.

-Darkstalker and Shadowhunter together find a way to break the curse at the end??? Idk man
