Chapter 12: Peace at Last
The midday sun blazes high over the glistening waters of Aether Paradise as you soar through the sky, the rhythmic beat of Charizard's wings steady beneath you. The breeze carries the scent of salt and warmth, and the ocean sparkles like a field of jewels stretching to the horizon. With a practiced ease, Charizard descends towards the foundation's landing platform, its powerful roar echoing as you land.
Sliding off Charizard's back, you pat its neck appreciatively. "Thanks, buddy," you murmur, earning a soft rumble in response before recalling it to its Ride Pager. Ahead, the lush courtyard stretches into a shaded terrace, where you spot Lusamine and Lillie sitting at a table adorned with platters of fresh fruit and cool drinks.
Today was special, and you wanted everything to go smoothly. Hidden in your bag was a carefully prepared invitation, embossed with a golden crest of the Hano Grand Resort. After all the recent days' chaos, Alola was finally at peace, and you wanted to celebrate with the person who meant the most to you - Lillie. A few days in paradise sounded like exactly what you both needed
Laughter drifts over to you, Lillie's familiar giggle as she shares a light-hearted moment with her mother. You hesitate for just a moment, not wanting to break the spell, but Lillie looks up, her eyes catching yours, and her face brightens.
"Y/n!" she calls, standing up as Lusamine turns, surprised but smiling. Lillie rushes over, her excitement palpable. "What are you doing here?" she asks, slipping her arm around yours as you share a quick hug.
"I hope I'm not interrupting," you say, glancing at Lusamine, who rises from her chair gracefully.
"Not at all," Lusamine replies, a hint of curiosity in her expression. "What brings you here, Y/n?"
You take a breath, the warmth of Lillie's touch spreading through you. "I was hoping to ask your permission, Lusamine," you say, meeting her eyes. "For Lillie to come with me to the Hano Grand Resort for a few days. I have booked a room for a few nights. I think we could both use some time to rest and... just be away from everything for a while."
Lillie's eyes widen with delight, and she looks to her mother, hope sparking in her gaze. Lusamine's face softens, and she exchanges a glance with Lillie before nodding. "I think that sounds wonderful," she says warmly. "You both deserve it."
Lillie beams, squeezing your arm tighter. "Really, Mother? Thank you!"
Lusamine steps forward, her expression one of genuine affection. "Take care of each other," she says, her voice low but full of emotion. "And enjoy every moment... not too much, of course," she adds with a teasing glint in her eye.
Lillie's face turns a shade pinker, and she smirks. "Mother, we're not kids anymore," she replies, a playful defiance in her tone. "But yes, I'll make sure he behaves."
Lusamine chuckles, a rare, unrestrained sound you hadn't heard often from her before. "Just remember, Lillie, that I know you better than you think," she retorts, eyes sparkling with mischief.
The three of you share a smile before Lillie grabs your hand, excitement practically buzzing in the air between you. "Come on, Y/n," she says, pulling you towards the hallway. "Let's go say hi to my brother and then let's go see what mess you've got us into!"
As the two of you make your way to Lillie's room, you glance back at Lusamine. There's a glow of pride in her eyes, a quiet encouragement that speaks more than words. She nods, as if giving her unspoken blessing, and you feel a renewed confidence settle in.
A few hours later...
The Hano Grand Resort loomed ahead, its pristine white facade gleaming under the Alolan sun. The rhythmic crash of the waves beyond the elegant courtyard was a welcoming sound, harmonizing with the rustle of palm fronds that swayed in the gentle breeze. You and Lillie stood at the entrance, a sense of wonder and anticipation settling between you. She glanced up at you, her eyes alight with excitement, cheeks flushed a delicate pink.
"You really went all out, didn't you?" Lillie teased, nudging your arm with a playful smile.
You chuckled, pretending to adjust an invisible collar. "Only the best for Alola's saviours, right?" The teasing glint in her eyes made your heart feel lighter than it had in weeks.
A friendly bellhop approached, tipping his hat with a bright smile. "Welcome to the Hano Grand Resort! If you'll follow me, I'll show you to your suite." He led the way through the grand lobby, its polished marble floors and towering columns gleaming in the afternoon sun. The sea breeze swept through the space, carrying the scent of salt and sun-kissed hibiscus.
At the end of a winding hallway lined with tropical artwork, the bellhop stopped before an ornate double door. He turned to you, a touch of reverence in his voice. "This one is called the Champion suite. Made in, well... in your honour, sir."
Lillie's eyes widened in surprise, and she turned to you with a look that bordered on awe. The bellhop pushed the doors open, revealing a luxurious suite with panoramic windows overlooking the shimmering coastline. A private balcony jutted out towards the horizon, and the room was filled with the warm glow of the setting sun. Tropical linens adorned the plush bed, and a jacuzzi stood ready in the corner, promising relaxation.
You exchanged a glance with Lillie, who stepped into the room, taking in the elegance and comfort. As the bellhop departed with a respectful nod, you walked up behind her, wrapping your arms around her waist. The gentle crash of the waves filled the room as she pushed the balcony doors open.
"Welcome to paradise," you whispered, your voice low against her ear.
She turned, eyes sparkling. "With you, it always feels that way, no matter where we are," she said, lifting herself on tiptoe to press a kiss to your lips before turning around again.
"But seriously, look at this place!" She continues, spinning around with a bright smile. You can't help but chuckle at her excitement, warmth blooming in your chest as you watch her joy.
"Pretty incredible, huh?" you say, making your way to the balcony. The Akala sea stretches out endlessly before you, its waves sparkling in the sunlight.
Lillie follows you outside, leaning on the rail. "I've never seen a view like this," she whispers, the awe in her voice unmistakable.
You glance back into the room and eye the jacuzzi nestled in the corner, surrounded by unlit candles and petals that hint at romantic evenings. Smirking, you nudge Lillie gently. "Reckon we should try that one out later?"
She laughs, her eyes dancing with playful mischief. "Only if you promise not to splash too much."
"Oh, no promises there," you reply with a grin, and she shakes her head, rolling her eyes.
The two of you continue exploring the suite, discovering a dining area already set with exotic Alolan fruits and a chilled bottle of fine Paldean sparkling wine, the label hinting at a prestigious vineyard known for its unique blends. The bubbles dance playfully against the glass, promising a crisp, refreshing taste.
"Looks like they really went all out for us," you say, raising an eyebrow as you uncork the bottle. The soft pop fills the room, and the rich aroma wafts up as you pour the sparkling wine into two elegant flutes.
Lillie's eyes sparkle with delight as she takes a glass from you. "To new adventures and... everything we've fought for," she says, her voice warm and sincere.
You clink your glasses together, the sound ringing sweetly. "And to making memories that last a lifetime." You take a sip, letting the bubbles tingle on your tongue, and you can't help but feel that this moment is just the beginning of a perfect getaway.
"Do you think we should explore the rest of the resort?" Lillie asks, setting her glass down and eyeing the door. "I really want to explore Hano Beach and see the views."
"Absolutely! But first," you say, leaning in closer, your gaze lingering on Lillie's sparkling eyes, "I think I should enjoy this view a little longer."
With a playful grin, you gently push her back onto the plush bed, her laughter echoing in the room as she falls into the soft sheets. You climb over her, showering her with an avalanche of kisses across her cheeks, forehead, and finally her lips, each touch igniting a warm spark between you. Lillie's giggles fill the air, her hands threading through your hair as she pulls you closer, fully immersed in the moment.
"Okay, okay!" she breathes between kisses, her cheeks flushed with joy. "We can't spend all day here, tempting as it is!"
Reluctantly, you pull back, both of you breathless and smiling. "Fine, but only because the pool is calling our names," you say, your heart racing. With one last glance back at the inviting suite, you lead her out, eager to explore all that the Hano Grand Resort has to offer.
As you stroll along the shore of Hano Beach, Lillie glances out at the ocean, her expression contemplative. "You know," she starts, her voice soft yet filled with emotion, "I never thought I'd get to enjoy a place like this with you. After everything that happened when I left for Kanto, I didn't even know if I'd ever see you again."
Her words hang in the air for a moment, and you can see a mixture of relief, sadness and happiness in her eyes. "It feels like a dream, being here now, celebrating everything we've achieved together. I feel so lucky that we can finally do this."
You smile back at her, touched by her sincerity. "I feel lucky too, Lillie. We've both grown so much since then. To share this moment with you means everything to me."
She pauses, looking at you with a warmth that makes your heart swell. "After all those years apart, it's amazing to think we're here together in Alola. It makes all the hardships and the waiting worth it."
You nod in agreement, wrapping your arm around her waist as you both continue to walk along the shoreline. "It really is incredible," you say, pulling her a little closer. "I still remember the first time we met, how shy you were at the bridge, and how you eventually opened up, revealing the beautiful person you are. And now, you're here!"
Lillie chuckles softly, her eyes shining. "I was so lost back then, but you helped me find my way. It feels like a lifetime ago."
The waves crash gently against the shore, creating a soothing rhythm that matches the steady beat of your heart. "And now look at us," you add, glancing at her with a smile. "We've faced so much together, evil team, evil mum, Ultra Beasts, distance, years apart... and yet here we are, stronger than ever."
Lillie looks up at you, her expression filled with warmth and determination. "I wouldn't want to have gone through it with anyone else."
As you both enjoy the sun-drenched moment, you spot a vibrant white flower nearby, its petals glistening in the light. Inspired by the beauty of the day and the moment, you reach down and gently tuck the flower behind Lillie's ear. She glances up at you in surprise, her eyes widening for a brief moment before a soft smile spreads across her face.
"It suits you," you say, admiring how it suits her hair and highlights her features.
Lillie laughs softly, a light blush creeping onto her cheeks as she brushes a hand over the flower. "It's perfect, love, thank you."
As you both stand there, watching the waves dance under the sun, a comfortable silence settles between you. The gentle sound of the surf creates a perfect backdrop for a more intimate conversation. "So, honey," you begin, breaking the tranquility, "where would you like to travel someday? I mean, besides right here, of course."
Lillie turns to you, her eyes reflecting the glimmering ocean. "There are so many places I've dreamed of visiting," she replies thoughtfully. "I've always wanted to see the mountains and forests of Sinnoh, especially Eterna Forest. It sounds magical, like something out of a story."
You nod, intrigued by her enthusiasm. "That does sound incredible. Imagine exploring it together, surrounded by all those ancient trees and Pokémon. We'll have many more adventures."
Her smile widens at the thought. "And I've heard that the cherry blossoms in Johto are breathtaking in spring. I'd love to see them in full bloom, maybe have a picnic under the trees."
"Count me in," you say, your voice light with excitement. "We'll make a whole trip out of it. Just you and me, discovering new places."
As the waves crash against the shore, you feel a rush of hope and possibility. "What about after all this is over?" you ask. "What do you see for us in the future?"
Lillie takes a moment to consider, her gaze drifting back to the horizon. "I want to make a difference, to help Pokémon and people live in harmony, especially ones that are hurt. But I also want us to be together, wherever that takes us." Lillie pauses, glancing at you with sincerity. "I want to explore the world with you by my side," she says, her eyes sparkling. Then, with a playful grin, she adds, "And have a CHAMPION TIME!"
You raise an eyebrow, scratching your head in confusion. "Where did you get that from?"
She giggles, the sound light and carefree. "It's from a TV show we had going on in Kanto about Leon. He always says it whenever he starts a battle or does anything exciting, really. It just stuck with me!"
You can't help but laugh at the idea, the silliness of it making the moment feel even more special. "Well, I guess we'll have to have a champion time, then!" You wrap an arm around her waist, pulling her close as you both share a laugh, feeling the warmth of the sun and each other in that perfect moment.
After your walk along the shore, you find a cozy spot by the pool. You both settle into plush lounge chairs, the sound of gentle waves lapping against the shore creating a soothing soundtrack. A server approaches, bringing you a couple of refreshing drinks adorned with vibrant garnishes.
You take a sip of your drink, feeling the coolness wash over you, and turn to Lillie. "I can't help but wonder what Pokémon would love a vacation spot like this. I bet Psyduck would be right at home, sunbathing by the pool."
Lillie laughs, her eyes sparkling in the sunlight. "And what about your Primarina? She'd love to perform for the guests in the water! Just imagine her doing a show right here."
As you share light-hearted banter about which Pokémon would thrive in such a paradise, a few hotel guests nearby take notice. They whisper to each other and, after a moment, one approaches hesitantly. "Excuse me, are you the Champion of Alola?"
You nod, a smile spreading across your face. The guests light up with excitement. "Could we take a picture with you? We've travelled all the way from Galar!" They ask eagerly.
Lillie nudges you playfully, her grin wide. "Looks like our quiet time has come to an end."
You chuckle, shrugging in mock humility. "I guess I can't say no to my fans." With that, you pose with the group, Lillie joining in for a couple of the shots, her laughter mixing with the guests' excitement as they capture the moment.
Afterward, you return to your seats, shaking your head in disbelief. "I still can't believe this is my life now," you say, taking another sip of your drink.
"I think I could get used to this..." Lillie replies, resting her head against your shoulder, a content smile on her face.
You can feel her body gently pressing against yours, the soft fabric of her sundress and white bikini underneath brushing against your skin. As she closes her eyes, the gentle rise and fall of her breath creates a rhythm that calms your racing heart. In this moment, surrounded by the soothing sounds of splashing water and distant laughter, you can't help but cherish the simplicity of being together, letting the world fade away.
As the sun begins to dip below the horizon, casting a warm glow across the resort, you and Lillie make your way to Hano's fine restaurant with an elegant seaside view. The atmosphere is lively yet intimate, and you can smell the delicious aromas wafting from the kitchen.
Once seated, the waiter hands you both menus filled with exquisite dishes that highlight the local cuisine. You glance at Lillie, a playful smile forming on your lips. "Let's think for a second," you suggest, leaning forward conspiratorially. "Which Pokémon do you think would enjoy these dishes the most?"
Lillie raises an eyebrow, intrigued. "Okay, but we have to pick our Pokémon wisely. I bet my Togekiss would love the seafood platter," she declares confidently.
You chuckle, tapping your chin in thought. "And I'm going to say that my Primarina would steal the show with the dessert—it has an affinity for sweet flavors!"
With each dish that arrives, you continue the playful banter, placing bets on which of your Pokémon would enjoy the food more. It turns into a delightful competition, filled with laughter and the clinking of glasses, as you share stories about your Pokémon's quirks and tastes.
As you admire the beautifully set table and the delicious food laid out before you, an idea strikes. "Excuse me," you call out to the waiter, who approaches with a friendly smile. "Would it be alright if we let some of our Pokémon out of their Poké Balls? I think they'd love to join us for dinner."
The waiter's eyes light up with recognition. "Of course! As the Champion, you're always welcome to have your Pokémon with you. It'll make for a wonderful dining experience," he replies enthusiastically.
You turn to Lillie, excitement bubbling within you. "Let's do it!" You release Primarina, Lycanroc, and your Silvally, allowing them to stretch their legs and explore the luxurious surroundings of the restaurant. Lillie follows suit, letting Togekiss and Vaporeon out to join the party.
"Alright, everyone! You can try some of this delicious food!" you say, watching as your Pokémon approach the dishes with wide eyes.
As your Pokémon engage with the food, you notice several guests at nearby tables turning their heads in surprise and delight. "Wow, look at that!" one diner exclaims, pointing at Togekiss as it delicately pecks at the seafood platter. "I've never seen a Pokémon like that in person!"
Primarina, feeling the attention, performs a little twirl before sharing the cupcake with Vaporeon, who eagerly jumps in for a bite. The guests around you break into smiles, and a couple even pull out their Rotom phones to capture the moment.
You notice a couple of the restaurant guests gasp in realisation, one of them saying excitedly, "Those are the Champion's and his girlfriend's Pokémon!" The buzz of excitement ripples through the room as others turn to take in the sight. Togekiss, hearing the comment, puffs up even more, glancing over at Lillie with a joyful chirp.
The waiter chuckles at the sight. "It's not every day we get such special guests dining with us. Enjoy!"
Lillie giggles at the attention, leaning over to you. "Looks like they're enjoying being stars for the night," she whispers, and you can't help but agree as you watch your Pokémon bask in the attention. The atmosphere is lively, filled with laughter and appreciation, creating a perfect backdrop for your special evening.
As dinner winds down, the restaurant hums with quiet conversation and the soft clinking of glasses. Your Pokémon, content from the feast, return to their Poké Balls with satisfied smiles. The sky outside has deepened into rich hues of purple and navy, the first stars just beginning to dot the horizon.
You and Lillie exchange a warm glance, the kind that speaks of perfect evenings and shared memories. "Shall we take this night outside?" you suggest, tipping your head toward the inviting expanse of the beachfront loungers.
She nods, her eyes bright with anticipation. Together, you step out into the gentle embrace of the evening air, the path lit by lanterns swaying in the tropical breeze. Finding a pair of loungers facing the sea, you both settle in, the distant waves murmuring in rhythm with the beating of your hearts.
The stars twinkle brightly above, casting a gentle glow over the beach as you sink further into your loungers. Lillie turns her head to look at you, her eyes reflecting the starlight, soft and thoughtful.
"Have you ever thought about what makes Alola so special?" she asks, her voice barely above a whisper. There's a depth to her tone, a hint that she's not just talking about the beauty of the islands but something deeper.
You take a moment, staring up at the constellations as if searching for an answer in their ancient patterns. "I think it's the way everything is connected here - people, Pokémon, even the land and sea," you begin, glancing at her as a smile plays on your lips. "There's a legend I once heard about the stars. It said that long ago, each one represented a guardian spirit watching over those who cared for both nature and Pokémon."
Lillie's eyes widen with intrigue as she shifts a little closer, listening intently.
"They believed that the bond between humans and Pokémon was so powerful that it could light up the darkest nights, even call out to the stars themselves. And when that bond was strongest, it's said that the stars would shine brightest, guiding lost souls back home," you continue, your voice deep and steady, weaving the tale into the quiet night.
The gentle rustle of the palm leaves punctuates the silence as she absorbs your words. "That's beautiful. And it makes sense," she says finally, eyes drifting up to the stars above. "I felt lost for so long. And yet, here I am, finding my way back - to you, to Alola. Maybe the stars, or someone out there, is watching over me... over us."
Reaching out, you intertwine your fingers with hers, the warmth of her touch grounding you both in this perfect moment. "And we're exactly where we're meant to be."
With the night winding down, you and Lillie decide to head back. The walk back to your suite is leisurely, punctuated by shared laughter and quiet, contented moments. The resort feels dreamlike under the moonlight, its gentle glow casting silvery hues over the pathways.
As you open the door to your suite, the calmness of the room greets you, accented by the soft breeze flowing in through the open window. Lillie steps inside first, turning to give you a playful smile over her shoulder as you follow her in. Without a word, you move to the sound system and switch it on, selecting a track that fills the room with a soft, romantic melody.
Lillie giggles as the music begins to play. "A private dance, huh?" she teases, raising an eyebrow but stepping toward you with an excited light in her eyes.
"Only the best for the Champion's girlfriend," you say with a grin, bowing dramatically before offering her your hand. She takes it, fingers threading together as she rolls her eyes in mock annoyance.
"You're impossible, you know that?" she says, but her voice is laced with affection.
"I do," you reply, pulling her gently into a close embrace. The two of you begin to sway, matching the rhythm of the music. The melody wraps around you both as the world fades away, leaving only the warmth of Lillie's body pressed to yours. Her head rests against your chest, and you can feel her breathing sync with yours, slow and steady.
Lillie tilts her face up to meet your gaze, her eyes sparkling as she whispers, "Again, I could get used to this."
You chuckle softly and press a kiss to her temple. "Good. Because this is just the beginning."
The dance continues, each step and sway reinforcing the bond you share, surrounded by the peace of the Alolan night.
When the song ends, Lillie gently slips out of your embrace and gathers her overnight bag. With a playful glint in her eyes, she looks over her shoulder as she starts making her way to the bathroom.
"Don't you even think about peeking!" she teases, her voice light and filled with mischief.
You chuckle, raising your hands in mock innocence. "I wouldn't dream of it... well, maybe a little," you add, smirking.
She rolls her eyes, the corners of her lips quirking up. "Behave," she scolds playfully, disappearing behind the inner wall of the room.
A few moments later, you hear the faint sounds of water running and the soft rustling as she changes. The anticipation builds, and you can't help but imagine the elegance she'll radiate when she steps out.
"Okay, ready!" Lillie's voice calls out, full of excitement and a hint of shyness. The door opens, and she stands there, dressed in a silky nightgown that catches the moonlight perfectly.
"Well?" she asks, tilting her head with a teasing smile. "Still glad you didn't peek?"
Your breath catches as you take in the sight. "Definitely, spoiling that surprise would have been a sin," you respond softly, eyes never leaving hers as she walks over, her laughter filling the room.
You quickly get ready for the night, changing into something comfortable before making your way to the bed where Lillie is already settled. She looks up at you with a warm smile, patting the spot beside her. The moonlight streams through the curtains, casting a soft glow over the room, creating an atmosphere that feels both peaceful and intimate.
Sliding into bed, you reach for her hand, fingers intertwining as you both sink into the pillows. Lillie shifts closer, her hair brushing your cheek as she rests her head on your shoulder.
"Today was perfect... thanks for bringing me here," she whispers, eyes closing as the serenity of the moment wraps around you both. You press a gentle kiss to her forehead.
"Here's to more days like this," you murmur, and she squeezes your hand in agreement.
With a contented sigh, Lillie nestles closer into you, and together you drift off, the gentle sounds of the Alolan night lulling you both into a restful sleep...
Suddenly, the silence of the night is broken by a sudden, loud knock at the glass balcony window. It's so abrupt and forceful that both you and Lillie jolt awake, your hearts pounding as your eyes snap open to the darkened room. A tall figure stands shrouded in shadow just outside, only illuminated by the faint moonlight glistening off the ocean. The silhouette's sharp lines and the flutter of a trench coat catch your attention, filling you with an unexpected rush of unease.
"What in the world...?" Lillie whispers, her voice barely above a breath. She grips your arm, her wide eyes reflecting the sudden alarm you feel.
Instinctively, you reach for one of your Poké Balls on the nightstand, fingers wrapping around it tightly as another series of knocks follows - more insistent this time, as if time itself is pressing on the other side of the glass. You exchange a glance with Lillie before swinging your legs over the edge of the bed, heart thundering as you approach the window with caution.
As you move closer, the figure steps into a sliver of moonlight, and recognition hits you like a wave.
"Looker," you mutter, seeing the determined, tired eyes of the International Police agent staring back at you. He leans forward, mouthing something urgent, his breath fogging up the glass.
You unlock and slide open the balcony door, letting the cool night air sweep in. The moment Looker steps inside, it's clear his appearance isn't a mere courtesy call.
"Y/n," he says, voice low and serious. His eyes flick to the Poké Ball clutched in your hand before meeting your gaze again. "We need to talk. Now."
You step aside, letting Looker pass through as Lillie crosses her arms, eyes narrowing with visible frustration. Her hands move to adjust her nightgown and smooth her hair, a subtle effort to maintain her composure and modesty in front of the unexpected guest. Her cheeks are flushed with both embarrassment and annoyance as she eyes Looker with a mix of curiosity and irritation.
"Why on earth did you come in through the balcony instead of just using the door like a normal person? How did you even get on the balcony in the first place?" she demands, her voice low but firm, trying not to disturb the quiet of the night.
Looker takes a moment to straighten his trench coat, casting a glance around the room before settling his eyes back on Lillie and you. "Because you never know who could be watching," he replies gravely, the weight of his words hanging in the air like a storm cloud.
Y/n furrows his brow, a cold sense of unease settling in. "What do you mean by that?" he asks, his voice low and cautious.
Looker glances over his shoulder, eyes narrowing as though expecting an unseen presence. "There are strange things happening in the world," he begins, his tone grave. "Chaos is spreading, and evil teams are rising up in every corner. It's more dangerous than you can imagine."
Lillie's brow furrows, her frustration resurfacing. "Yes, we know that already, the Champions told Y/n," she interjects, crossing her arms defiantly. "We could have just kept sleeping peacefully if you hadn't barged in here. We just saved Alola."
Looker nods, acknowledging her point. "Indeed, but you don't know the extent of it all."
You interject. "What's actually going on, Looker? Why are you here at this Arceus-forsaken hour?"
Looker takes a deep breath, his expression intensifying. "I've been traveling across all nine regions, and what I've discovered is troubling. The rise of these evil teams around the same time can't be a coincidence. Someone - or something - must be incentivising them to act up again. It feels orchestrated, like a distraction for an even bigger plot."
You and Lillie exchange worried glances, the implications of his words sinking in. "Especially in Sinnoh," Looker continues, his voice low. "Dawn and Lucas, Palkia and Dialga's trainers, have mysteriously disappeared. Meanwhile, Cynthia, the Gym Leaders, and the Elite Four are struggling against Team Galactic. Their resources are stretched thin, and I suspect that's part of the plan. And the fact that they've been stealing scientific gear can't be a coincidence, either. It all ties back to something larger. We need to figure out what."
You furrow your brow, remembering what Guzma had mentioned. "Guzma said the Team Skull uprising might have been a distraction. He also said he'd met with a scientist," you say, your mind racing. "He didn't specify who, but it felt important. Could it be related to all of this?"
"Absolutely," Looker replies, his eyes narrowing thoughtfully. "That could be a crucial piece of the puzzle. We need to find out who that scientist is and what they're planning."
You nod slowly, the weight of the conversation hanging between the three of you like a storm cloud. "Okay, so what do we do?" you ask, though the answer already stirs uneasily in your gut.
Looker's gaze sharpens as he stares at you in silence. No words need to pass between you; the unspoken understanding settles like a stone in your chest. You exhale, the realisation solidifying. "I need to go to Sinnoh."
Lillie's eyes widen, and she steps closer, her voice strained but steady. "I'm coming with you."
Looker's expression is unyielding as he takes a deep breath. "There's more you both need to know. The International Police has intercepted intel that Team Galactic's ambitions could extend beyond Sinnoh. I've had some reports that they're preparing to make a move on Alola, seeking scientific research on Ultra Space and the multiverse."
The gravity of the revelation sinks in, leaving the room in stunned silence. You take a step forward, your resolve unwavering as you meet Looker's gaze. "Then I have to stay. Alola needs its Champion if Team Galactic is truly planning to cross over."
Before Looker can respond, you feel Lillie's grip on your hand tighten. She shakes her head, eyes wide with both urgency and determination. "No, Y/n. You can't. The world needs you in Sinnoh. I'll stay. Alola has me, and I won't let it fall into chaos."
Looker's expression shifts, the urgency in his eyes meeting Lillie's fierce resolve. "Unfortunately, she's right," he admits, his voice gravelly. "Only you can bring balance to Sinnoh, and only someone strong and trusted can defend Alola."
A silence fills the room as your heart clenches, torn between your duty and your love. Lillie's eyes soften as she reaches up to touch your cheek. "You've always been the hero who goes where you're needed most. Let me be that for Alola this time. And when Alola is safe... I'll meet you there."
"Lillie-" you start, your heart twisting at the thought of leaving her behind.
"I'll be okay," she interrupts, squeezing your hand as her eyes meet yours, filled with an unspoken strength. "We've faced the impossible before, and we'll do it again. When things are safe here, I'll find you. But right now, the world needs you more."
Your chest tightens as you take in her resolve, pride and worry warring within you. You place your free hand over hers, promising with your touch what words struggle to convey. "We'll get through this," you say finally, your voice firm with the promise you both know is anything but simple.
Lillie smiles, a touch of sadness tempered by fierce hope. "We always do."
The urgency in the room gives way to a somber quiet as Looker takes a step back, glancing between the two of you. His face softens for the briefest moment, as if recognising what's at stake beyond strategy and missions. "Get some rest," he says, his voice lowering to an almost gentle command. "We leave at dawn. Make the most of tonight."
You nod, grateful for the unexpected reprieve. The tension eases slightly as Looker turns and quietly exits through the balcony, vanishing into the night with the same mysterious swiftness he arrived. The cool breeze that follows carries with it the weight of the challenges to come, but for now, the night still belongs to you and Lillie.
She steps closer, eyes shimmering with a mix of pride and worry. You pull her into your arms, feeling her heartbeat sync with yours as you hold on tightly, as if memorising the warmth between you. Neither of you speak, letting the silence hold what words cannot: a promise, a shared strength, and eternal love.
As you pull her closer, her eyes shimmering in the soft light, Lillie's breath hitches slightly, and you can feel the weight of the world lift, if only for a moment. "You know," she murmurs, her voice barely above a whisper, "no matter what happens out there, I'll always be here for you."
You meet her gaze, feeling a warmth swell in your chest. "And I'll always find my way back to you," you reply, brushing your fingers gently against her cheek. "You're the light that guides me, Lillie. I don't know what I'd do without you."
A soft blush spreads across her cheeks as she bites her lip, the corners of her mouth twitching into a smile. "You're such a hero, Y/n," she teases lightly, her voice playful but sincere. "But even heroes need someone to believe in them. You make me believe we can face anything."
"Believe me," you say, drawing her in even closer, "with you by my side, I feel like I can take on the world. You're my strength, my reason."
The weight of your words hangs in the air, wrapping around both of you like a comforting embrace. Lillie's smile widens, her eyes glistening as she leans in, resting her forehead against yours. "Even if it's just for tonight, let's forget about everything else."
With a gentle nod, you close the space between you, capturing her lips in a tender kiss. It's sweet and lingering, filled with unspoken promises and the depth of your shared connection. As you part, you both breathe in the moment, relishing the closeness that feels almost sacred.
"Promise me," Lillie says softly, her voice trembling with emotion, "that you'll come back to me."
You cup her face in your hands, looking deep into her eyes. "I promise," you affirm, your voice steady. "I'll always come back to you. You're my home."
Lillie nods, her smile turning softer, and as she wraps her arms around your neck, you can feel the tension of the world outside fade away, leaving only the two of you in this cocoon of warmth and intimacy.
As the night stretches on, you find solace in each other's arms, whispering sweet nothings and sharing dreams for the future. You know the path ahead will be tough, but in this moment, surrounded by the quiet and the stars, you feel ready to face whatever comes next...

Hi everyone! This chapter has been a special one, it's been in the draft for about a week or two, and now it's finally here! This has been a chapter I really loved writing. While making this story, I've come to realise that, while I always write about climactic huge-scale events, I actually enjoy writing about the little peaceful and light-hearted moments the most.
As someone who has only dated long-distance, the ending felt very personal to me XD
Anyways, I hope you liked the chapter!
Question of the chapter:
Who's your favourite Pokémon character of all time? (If it's Lillie, also mention your 2nd favourite ;))
Hope you've had a nice day! You may go away now.
