Grabbing a first aid kit, the school nurse opened the box. Tricia and Kate excused themselves so she could do her work. They took their seats outside waiting for news. As I laid on the bed, my head moved back and forth feeling a burning sensation over my forehead. I started feeling my body heat up the more as time passed by.

She picked a few ice blocks from the fridge and soaked a towel in it. Squeezing the water out of the towel, she wiped the sweat on my forehead and cleaned it up before laying it in my forehead finally. She quickly set a glass of water and painkillers on the table before turning to me.

When she turned to my bruised arm, she picked an antibiotic and smeared it over the bruise before rolling a bandage on my arm. After a hour or less, I could open my eyes a bit. When I looked around, no one was there with me. I was completely alone. Staring at the dark room I had slept in, goose bumps drew on my skin. I quickly dropped my feet on the floor and walked to the door.

The hallway was totally empty too. As I bit my lips, I threw my critical gazes at both left and right sides to the hall way. But the only thing I could hear were my own footsteps.

Where was everybody? Did they leave me in the school?

I massaged my arm when I felt a sharp pain opening the door. I marched along the hallway tapping my feet slowly at each step. My feet paused when I saw an empty room facing me. It was pretty darker in it than my surroundings.

Moreover, the door was left side open. I stepped back immediately as the door swung backwards once, creating a screeching noise in the eerie hallway. Curious about the room, I  walked slowly inside. Hearing only my footsteps, I started to feel secure. But my eyes flickered when the door suddenly banged and closed.

"Who's there?" As I turned, I felt a sharp silhouette pass beside me. I couldn't see his face as he swiftly brushed past me. My eyes moved down when I saw drops of blood tracing deeper into the room.

A loud gasp left my lips when I saw the blood traces. Unable to move for a second, I turned to the door and tried to open the door knob but it didn't budge. "Someone help!" I yelled banging the door but no one could hear me. Shaking, I dropped my hands and walked further. But my legs began to wobble seeing a girl sleeping on the floor.

I got closer to wake her up. But when I shook her she was cold dead with bite marks on her neck.

I stumbled back in fear as a man in black robe opened the door behind me. Twisting his neck, he approached me with a knife.

I screamed on top of my lungs and managed to open my eyes. When I looked around again, I found myself in the first aid room with a glass of water and a painkiller lying on the table. Breathing heavily, I cling to my chest and took a gulp of the glass of water.

Someone rushed to my room. So I hid myself in the bedsheets.

"Clara? Are you okay? I heard your scream," Tricia asked removing the sheets from my face. I sighed when I realized that it was just a dream and nothing of that sort happened. Wiping the sweat off my face, I turned to my bandaged arm.

"I've hired a taxi for you. I'll help you sit up," added she while she assisted me to stand up from the bed . I nodded quietly and stood on my toes gradually. She helped me descend the stairs and waved goodbye when I sat in the car. The driver dropped me in front of my house.

Locking the door, I threw the keys on the sofa and walked into the kitchen to prepare some tea. Inhaling the aroma of the coffee, I walked to the kitchen table and fished out a hamburger from the fridge. I prepared sandwiches from the sausages bread, vegetables from the fridge and turned on the television.

Setting it in front of me, I raised my arm and closed my eyes remembering how I fell from the game.

Gosh, I wonder what's her problem. My arm really hurts from her push. She sure has strong arms.

Sipping the last time, I dropped the cup beneath the tap and rinsed it. When I moved out to walk to my room, the calendar on my wall fell down as I climbed the stairs to my room.

While looking at the date today, I heaved a sigh. "I'm almost eighteen next month," I alluded and looked in the fridge for anything edible for the next approaching days. Apparently, the fridge was quite empty.

I stopped by the television again and turned it on. As I grabbed a seat, my head jerked up with the first headline from the newscaster.

"What is happening in this city? Another girl about seventeen has committed suicide at Liverpool streets. Life is precious. Please observe it as such," the broadcaster announced before showing pictures of the young girl with black hair, pointed nose, about six inches and pink lips just like mine.

"She looks almost like me. This isn't suicide," I concluded before dropping the sandwich on the tray awestruck. I opened the door to my mom's room after several thoughts. There was a box in which she kept her treasured items in. Yes, she quickly closed the box when I entered her room once unannounced. But I didn't have the keys.

Since she wasn't here to reprimand me, I have to check.

I took a look at the drawer and scattered everything in it on the floor. When I dropped the last set of books on the floor, my eyes came across a letter hidden at the far end in one of the table. It labeled from my dad; Lucas to my mom.

"Please take care of our daughter. I know I should be the one doing it but if I don't come out alive. Keep her safe and you too. She shouldn't know about it," the letter dictated.

The crevices of my eyebrows furrowed at the entails of the letter. Checking the date, it was probably when I was still a baby. What didn't they want me to find out? I guess they're hiding something huge from me.

I rushed back to the room and turned on the television again. Listening to the newscaster, her words rang in my head.

"This was the same streets a couple died fighting a person we've been searching for. They left their wandering son with a snow globe . His whereabouts are still a mystery till date. Many say he was captured."

Payprus Street again? How many people have died on that street actually?

I couldn't think much about it because my phone started ringing. Staring at the screen, I found an unknown number calling me. Pursing my lips, I picked the call. "Hello?" A familiar voice replied me in no time. "This is the manager of City Mall. I got your request to work her part-time."

I popped out from my seat and affirmed het question. "I'm calling to tell you that I've accepted your request. You may start working here on night shifts on three working days. I hope you're okay with that?" Smiling, I nodded. "Of course. Thank you." Cutting the call, I turned to the television.

"Max might now more about that street. I should probably go there. I might not have the time tomorrow." Shrugging, I walked to the door and grabbed my keys.

I checked around for anyone before walking into the woods. It was quite creepy at night. Clutching to my pocket knife, I glared around carefully before taking further steps into the woods.

Suddenly I heard the crushing of leaves under someone's foot. The creasing sounds were from behind and didn't belong to me. It indicated a different footstep when I paused on my tracks. Rushing for my pocket knife, I took in a deep breath and turned around on a toe.

"Who's there?" I warned while turning around. But I got no response and found myself alone. Immediately I resumed running, a force pushed me to a tree. I winced in pain struggling to get up.  As I looked up to check who pushed me, I found a young creepy woman standing in front of me. She seemed traumatized and breathing heavily as her eyes rowed in thirst.

"Stay away from me," I demanded moving back in fear. With terrifying speed, she appeared in front of me  in no time and clenched her teeth hungrily. I gulped slowly as she was about to dig her carnissal teeth in my neck. "Aahhh!"

When she lowered her head over my neck, she was quickly thrown on the floor following a loud thud. My eyes widened in shock when I saw Max fighting with the vampire before he threw an arrow to her chest. Using his unknown physical strength to crush her to the tree, she feel down dead.

"Max," I cried in a low tone before losing consciousness while walking to him. When I got up, he was staring at me.

"What happened there? What was that?" I asked and touched my head . He got up hurriedly and started walking out.

"Where are you going? Why aren't you answering me?!" I yelled while standing up abruptly although I thought I hurt my head. He turned back fuming, "I told you not to come here without telling me!" Max snapped.

The pain I felt in my head had disappeared and every part of my body felt like nothing happened. I noticed his face had been stained with blood. He moved away and banged the door angrily. I rushed quickly outside while he stood staring around.

Touching his shoulder softly, I replied, "You're bleeding on your face. Let me help you."

He gave me an angry stare before turning back.

"You should go back. I'll send you off myself," he ordered while moving back into the cottage. "You're hurt. Let me help you first," I retorted.

He grabbed my hand and pulled me out dragging me towards the city streets. "Don't wander around at night and don't come here again at night," he said.

"Why? What attacked me back there? Tell me!" There was a loud noise followed by my scream. Turning to the loud bang with him, our eyebrows furrowed.

"What was that?" I whimpered hiding behind him. He told me to leave nevertheless and left in a haste. Unable to leave him behind, I followed after him. "I need to find out first," I said to myself walking slowly around.

An inquisitive smell was generating from around the cottage mom used to go which was also where the noise was from. I rushed there quickly to check.

I was shocked to find Max standing in front of the cottage which was totally burnt into ashes. "OMG!" I muttered while covering my surprised mouth. He turned alarmed when he heard my voice.

"This is far complicated than I expected. Someone's following us. And he knows about your mom coming here too." He couldn't scold me for following him because there was a delicate matter at hand.

The cottage was completely destroyed. All my mom's possessions went down in drain. I moved closer to search for anything that survived the consuming fire.

"Stop. It might be a trap," Max warned, but I had already gotten closer. My eyes fell on a white paper hiding behind one of the burning wood. When I pulled it out, its writing were in Spanish and large with only three words boldly written and a signature attached at the bottom.

"I'LL FIND YOU. RETURN THE ITEMS"

I stepped back looking around in fear. "Let me see," Max accentuated. I nodded quietly and gently gave it to him to have a look. He took a long time to analyze the letter and threw it away after crumpling it in anger.

"What items? Was mom owing someone dangerous?"
