25. The allure of ice - Samira
Samira, even if half Moroccan, had been born in Heinrich Wittfeld's pack, Erik's father, that had been married to her aunt Eleonora.
He had died however when she had been twenty-five human years old, rather young, and had lived mostly in Italy with her mother to that point, seeing Erik and Michael only on a few occasions. She knew why.
She had always been smart and observant and the scars on Eleonora and Erik's bodies showed clearly how the family life was going and why her mother didn't want her near Heinrich.
That didn't mean that she and Erik hadn't been close from the begging. Her mother said that it was blood calling to blood and the two of them had inherited the mage gene.
Now he was dead, really dead it seemed, and she was left the only mage alive.
Hopefully not for long.
She thought caressed her swollen belly, lost in thoughts.
They had survived, as unlikely as it seemed both of them had survived. What she was going to do now was however a big question.
It didn't look like Kiril was holding her prisoner but now he was her Alpha. He could technically command her to do anything, literally anything, and resisting an alpha command was beyond painful.
She could turn rogue but that didn't seem a good idea in her current state. She could also go to Europe and join Michael's pack but that would mean she would abandon the power that was her daughter's heritage. To regain that power she had to kill him. That was the only way.
She was a good fighter but also very much pregnant and Kiril had besides his very creepy ability to look into your head and paralyze your body also two alpha powers now and she had... none.
It was also hard to admit that he did save her life. Thinking actively about how to kill him was somehow... ungrateful?
No, it isn't.
Dahiru was dead because he wanted to duel with the Moon Goddess; she had lost her mate because of him. Her father's power was Saraunyia's heritage and she had to get it back for her.
But how on earth? And why was he behaving this strangely? Sure he was as obnoxious as can be but he nursed her to health and he was... Samira was somehow reluctant to go further down that trail of thoughts.
Besides she could barely stomach seeing him in those clothes.
Senseless prick.
Her monologue was interrupted by a pull of the same nature. He was summoning the pack. That included her too, unfortunately.
Some hours later most of the wolves were gathered in front of her house. Kiril was in his wolf form looking in the distance.
He is somehow majestic with that pelt of his, all-white like a creature of light when he is anything but
She caught herself thinking but buried the thought just as quickly.
A familiar scent reached her nostrils and it made her growl. Seconds after, Yarran and Kiera stepped forward with their whole pack.
Shit!
Samira had known Kiera and Cohen for many years. Cohen had been a reserved guy, funny, with a nerdy flair, who didn't like to stand out, but his particular power could be very dangerous and more lethal than others if used smartly and quickly.
It also looked like they were parading a chained girl around. It reminded her of the time when Kiril had kidnapped her and chained her in silver but at least she didn't get any beating or parading around like that girl, whoever she was.
Then it started intriguing her because Kiril seemed to know her indeed. Maybe it was someone from his former pack but he was infamous for not giving a damn about what happens to anybody.
And she was damn right; not even a muscle moved in his body.
Idiots...
Surprised, she couldn't hold back a gasp when out of the blue he impaled the three wolves and gave everyone the command to fight. Everyone but her.
The whole fight was again a sight to behold and it was even a pang of envy she felt when seeing how well he yielded the earth power after such a short time and no training whatsoever.
He was horrible but a damn natural when it came to magic.
She had been so invested that she didn't even observe the thunderbolt that Yarran had directed towards her until it would have been too late. That ignited a lot of fury in her. How could she have been so stupid to owe him a life once again?
After the sand settled, she noticed in horror that it might cost even more than that. He had been careless and now he was struggling to breathe.
No!
He couldn't die right now. That would make Yarran Alpha and her again a prisoner.
Kiril! She couldn't help screaming in her mind, still in her wolf form. It was that type of scream that could reach even the underworld.
He moves, thank goodness.
Not only that, Samira watched once again how he killed an alpha with utmost ferocity.
Yarran is dead.
She exhaled. Swiping over the fighting wolves her eyes found Kiera in the crowd and her anger took over.
It's on, bitch.
Samira didn't stop until her fangs were in Kiera's tighs. She disregarded the context completely and saw only revenge.
"I command you to stop! Stop and out of my sight, all of you!"
The damn alpha command ripped through her body and Kiera's and she was beyond annoyed but regardless frozen in place.
Kiril ignored them completely, he just scooped up the injured girl without paying any attention to anyone. Looking over his shoulder, he whispered at her.
"She is yours, witch. Have fun, just don't hurt yourself too bad, I have my hands full and can't babysit you today."
Prick.
She didn't need anybody babysitting her, him least of all.
Everything became a frenzie; yhe run, the thirst for revenge, the overpowering lust for violence and blood. She chased Kiera deep in the desert. Injured as she was the balance of power was clearly in Samira's favor.
Exhausted from the chase, Kiera stopped and kneeled in the sand turning to her human form.
She couldn't kill her just like that, concluded Samira so she turned too and looked how the sand was sticking to her open wounds and the bloody face looked frightened and desperate.
"Why?"
No sound.
"Why? I trusted you. You of all people. You knew what I went through, you were most familiar with my pain because it is so much like yours, you that I called my friend all these years. You sold me out the first occasion you had. Me and my child! Filthy bitch!"
"Samira, I..."
Samira couldn't hold back her rage and a heavy hand slapped Kiera across the face.
"I was strapped to a table and he was going to cut my child out of me! That is not even something you do to your worst enemies and I begged you to help me and you just walked away. You that I loved like a sister and relied on, you left me at his mercy! How the fuck could you?! You are not even worth my rage."
"I am really sorry. I thought it is for the best. You would have been still a luna and..."
"He wanted to kill my child! I would have been enslaved for life, humiliated, and raped by a guy I despised and you thought it's for the best?! "
Another blow. Kiera was injured, she would not stand a chance in a fight.
"Your pack wanted to kill you," she screamed.
"And you thought you should get the shovel to dig my grave faster? Was it worth it? Just to be Luna again?"
"After Cohen died I had nothing, no love, not even the respect of the pack, no place to be. I felt utterly lost. I had been Luna of the Australian pack since I was sixteen; I don't know anything else. It was the only thing I could envision that would give me back my will to live. I didn't have a child as you do! Do you have any idea how much I wished, how hard we have tried for decades?"
"And by what twisted logic did you think it was okay to kill mine instead?! Huh? What have I done to you?"
Samira was raging and hurting and she wanted to kill her but somehow something inside her didn't let her. Kiera was not an enemy on the battlefield, she had been her friend for years, even pitiful as she looked now she couldn't forget that.
"Go! Run, before I change my mind and avoid me at all costs. If I ever see you again I will kill you."
Her shoulders sagged and she kneeled down on the dunes crying and watching Kiera's shape disappear into the horizon.
When she returned to the house it was dark outside. The yard was debris, ashes and blood everywhere but that night she didn't have the energy to deal with any of it.
Where the fuck is Kiril?
She wondered but was too tired to follow the thought, just washed the blood off her body and sank into bed. Tomorrow was another day. Tomorrow she would deal with the dead pack members and make a plan for the future. Tomorrow...
Thud, thud.
Samira frowned but let it go.
Thud. There were also muffled sounds getting louder.
Master, please choke me harder.
"Oh, you must be kidding me. Just ignore it, they will stop eventually."
Harder.
"I am going to fucking kill him! What the fuck is he doing? And that girl, is she out of her mind?"
The thuds didn't stop, nor the screams, and her annoyance grew and grew. In the end, Samira was certain she would not be able to sleep so she got dressed and exited the house. She couldn't even pinpoint why she was so irritated and when she felt the little earthquake reverberating under her feet, she felt like throwing a rock at the window and hopping her aim was good enough to hit his head.
Freaking pervert.
Another smell distracted her, however. Was that possible?
"Angel! Jesus Christ, what are you doing here?" It felt like a blessing to finally see a friendly face.
Angel just wrapped her arms around her and she felt with certainty that the feeling was mutual.
"Who's this girl? Don't tell me you turned straight too?" she asked raising an eyebrow and looking Dasha up and down.
"Lord no."
"Thought so."
"This is Dasha, Mila's friend. Yes. Mila is alive and we all need your help. Woman, I am so freaking happy to see that you are not dead. You are my last hope. It was rumored that Sanjay killed you, then that Kiril killed you but you seem very much alive and I couldn't be happier," said Angel with tears in his eyes.
He looked around and frowned.
"It does look like battle here though and why is the earth moving? Stop doing that, it's making me anxious."
"That... is not me," answered Samira almost ashamed.
"Waaaait. Is that...?"
Samira nodded.
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"And he didn't kill you?"
"Long story but no."
"Ok kids, this is fun and all, I am happy about your encounter but where is Kiril? I need to talk to him right now, " said Dasha finally
"Inside but..."
Dasha didn't wait for more explanations just stormed inside following the vibrations to their epicenter when a frost wave pierced the air and in the aftermath, the atmosphere felt electric.
"Why are you in such a hurry?"
"Well, precious Michael wants to kill Mila and we have a few days to prevent that," answered Dasha.
"Indeed we need to hurry," answered Samira frowning and opening the door full of resolution but still blushing like the reddest of all tomatoes when she witnessed the scene unfolding in front of her.
"Cover the fuck up, savage. We have guests and we need to talk," she said and threw the bedsheets at him and at the girl.
"I don't really mind," whispered Angel and was elbowed in the ribs straight away by Samira.
"Me neither," said Dasha and entered the room smirking mischievously.
Kiril looked at them for a second with raised eyebrows, before grabbing the sheet and wrapping it around his body.
"Oh Daria, amazingly you are still alive..."
What the fuck, he knows her?
"I need to talk to you. Alone," said Dasha.
"Misguided confidence as always. To what do I owe the pleasure of this visit? As you see I was in the middle of something... And look who else came, Michael's lover. Why do I sense an alpha edge in you, boy? And what the fuck is that thing glowing on your neck? Not that I care but it stands out like a sore thumb."
"You... you can see it?" asked Angel amazed. "I smell like an alpha be-because I am one," he answered trying to seem confident.
"Ah, you killed Amaru."
"Do you uh.. mind?" asked Angel timidly almost not daring to look Kiril in the eyes.
"Hell no. Spared me some work."
But then his attention was caught by something else and Samira saw astonished how he thundered towards Dasha, pinned her against a wall and started nuzzling at her neck and shoulders.
"Ew! For fucks sake, what are you doing? Contain yourself," said Samira again irritated while the girl that had been silent so far started to growl.
Kiril ignored them altogether.
"Where is she?" he asked Dasha, while he couldn't contain his eyes from shining.
